Maybe durable means reinforced like armor, so steel bonning(and all variations thereof)

To me it sounds like you would make durable silk (kinda like a swatch) and then combine with insert pattern.

The Platinum Thread Idea also doesn't seem to have recieved enough attention. I think some more combines could be tried(possibly add a curing agent?) Also substuting with Gold and Silver threads have not yet been reported. Something else is the Ribbons available in Gunthak to make the collapsable Medicine bag and potion bag.

in the real life when you want to adhere two substances together there are several ways to do it...but they generally revolve around two principles.

#1 use an intermediary to hold them together. Stitching, glue, fasteners, etc.

#2 use an intermediary to facilitate their desire to stay together. Arc Welding, Chemical Bonding, etc.

Chemical Bonding is kind of cool. They add a chemical to a substance that basically starts to turn both edges into goo...and then it stops, the edge merge and then reharden, often hundreds of times stronger then the rest of the structure.

The Thick Caustic Fluid is for a quest; it's on the original drop table for Castle Mistmoore for years already. I doubt it has any bearing on this particular quest, but you could try.

idea: try combining the Deep Fungus Mold and Distilled Spirits into a temper and THEN combining with the Stone Silk?

Tried combining Deep Fungus Mold and Distilled Spirits in the Tanaan Brew Barrel, DNC.

I didn't have time to try other combines though, no containers or water or anything.

My gut tells me this isn't for our quest, but is instead part of whatever they implemented for the Red/Green Dragon Scale thing. Since both items are Lore/No Drop/Non-Stackable they seem more like quest components then tradeskill ingredients. Much like the components for the PoK quest where you go to the various cities buying supplies.

Agreed that it seems unlikely that they are for the stone silk combine. However ...

• For Acorn oil (halfling cultural ) its acorn + water.
  
• For PoP curing agents (tradeskilled player armor), its 3 sap + 1 vial of mana (varies which type)
  
• For Ethereal curing agent (quested planar armor), its 2 CEs + sap + soda.
  
• For Paela/Kiola (cured silk & wu's silk), its 2 sap + water + bottle.

All four methods of creating a curing/hardening agent seem to be possible templates for any stone silk agent. Thus all seem reasonable things to attempt to brew (whether using the new two items or something old).

Very few of the items so far that are only used in this quest have had tradeskill tags The two spells come to mind, and I thought people mentioned other items lacking them as well.
