  • If the combine had to be done in an Erudite sewing kit, that would be the biggest f*** you to every other race in the game. Even VI isn't idiotic enough to make it to where only Erudites can finish this quest.

When I suggested it I figured it would be tested rather quickly since it was a cheap possibility.

Since no one is watching at the office, i'm going to put a solution matrix together and post it to the list. I REALLY+ expect those with the components to help me mark off the failures.

Even if it can only be done in an Erudite Sewing Kit, that dosent mean that only erudites can buy/use the kit~

With regards to Tailoring, we know that there are a few pricy items around: the metal threads. Maybe this would work (or a variety of it):

Stone Silk + Stone Silk + Platinum Thread

          In a Tailor Kit?
Silver and Gold thread is also available - Silver thread is used a lot (Crystalline) whereas Gold is only used for some Velious leather Tailoring. And no one ever said it had to just be one...

p.s. thanks for trying out all these suggestions.

The Erudite kit is just like the Vale Kit and Teir'dal Kit in that anyone can own it, but only the correct race can press combine. Same with cultural forges.

            • I know that other races couldn't, for example, make steelweave armor, but that dosent mean another race couldnt do a combine that reqires the use of the erudite cultural kit/loom. but is not a cultural item.

Go to a cultural forge in any city, that is not your own race's city. Try to click the combine button. You will get a message that says "Only XRACEX can use this forge". The recipe does not matter that is inside the container, you cannot press the button at all. Ever.

                • Yes it does. The restriction is tied to the container, not the recipe.

I don't have the insert so I can't comment on any combine done with the insert.

                          • Ok.. good work trying combines guys i wish i could help but havent managed to get any stone silk never mind the pattern lol

Ive started going through the spell lists seeing if any of the effects have "durable" when cast.. that might be the clue..

done necro and mage (mainly cos igot those 2 char's and know the spells) started on druid..

                            ill post back any possibilities..

                            • Ok, I am no were near as far as most of you in this quest, and I don't really know as much about it as I should, but as I was browing the thread something kind of jumped out at me.

I thought i read somewhere that the phylactery we're trying to create held a soul. So wouldn't it make sense to try using the shaman spell: Spirit Pouch with the combine? I mentioned it earlier and I haven't seen any feedback on it.
I also seem to rember that the final item came in 2 kinds and one was geard twards Necromancers yes? Well has anyone Tried either an Essence Emerald(A gem containing a soul) or the spell Sacrifice Scroll(makes Essence Emeralds), or perhaps even the Scroll of Convergence(Rez using EE)?

Also while I am on the subject of Necor spells, Two that can be called (how did the NPC put it, durable?) How about Harmshiled and Quivering Veil of Xarn. The two Necro versons of the INVUN spells.

I am probable really reaching, its just that other then myself, I don't really know any other Necro Tradeskillers, so I thought it might be getting overlooked. I mean I am in a VT level guild, near Eeles atm, and still 70% of the guild doesn't know what an Essence Emerald is for. =p

PS. It also might be that its 6am and I havnt been to bed yet, this tends to make me less coherient.

                              • The essence emerald would have made sense if we didn't have the Precious Garnet. I find it somehow appealing in this context.

However, as this step is merely to create the "durable stone silk" that would hold the contents of the phylactery, that may not apply.

There's also the possibility that you just need straight-up stone silk, with no combines whatsoever. I consider this unlikely, but it it's worth a shot. If someone has completed all the other steps, try putting the results in the Decorated Box with just a plain old Stone Silk and see if you get anything.

Yes, I realize you get handed an insert pattern. Yes, there probably is a combine you have to do with it. Yes, I'd still like to test plain old stone silk.
