ok i kill the **** ghoul for like the 20th time then at last i see he have an item, a NODROP item i am all happy and then i see it's a Truthbringer? what's that?

Truthbringer gems are for a low to mid level paladin quest in Freeport and Gukta. Here's the link to the quest:

Unfortunately, it's not used in the Phylactery at all.

Ghoul is driving me crazy

I have been camping south ro and oasis everyday and some at night for over a week now. I have never seen him in oasis , but i have killed him 5 times in south ro , but he is stingy and hasn't gave up the anchor to me yet .
I even went as far as to ask a GM if the drop got broke since the release of Gates and the answer was: NO, it's just a very rare drop. I have also done /feedback about this several times now.
I feel that the people that have invested the time, the AA's, and the platinum to max out treadeskills in order to do quests like this have gotten the shaft, especially on this one . Well /rant off

Any advice on spawn times, spawn spots, or what the correct way to spawn him please reply , I have spent so much time camping this thing, it's my last item i need. I have been dreaming of ghouls in my sleep.
Again,any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Any 1 know if the "alternative way to get Phylactery" was legit or if it was a bug? And if it was a bug, did those who got it this way got their item removed?

The alternate way was weird. Normally I'd call it a bug, but you actually get text when you handed in the Token to the Guardian. It leads me to believe that it was supposed to be an alternate way of doing it, but somehow they didn't realize how insanely easy and exploitable it could be. It can also be theorized that the reward was supposed to be another part of the phylactory quest so to speak. For instance, the guardian was supposed to give an item that goes with the mana crystals and not the phylactory itself. Either way, only time will tell.

To answer your question, it was removed from the game about 2 weeks ago. I did it the original way, but tried it the alternate way for kicks. I got a ton of friends phylactory'd, but ironically I never did the hand-ins myself =P. And unless none of them told me, the phylactery was not removed.

No word from SOE

I would like to hear from SOE on whether this was legit or not. I got Arialla's token the morning after the Guardian was despawned. It appears that they would likely the subject to quietly go away. There was no mention of it in Patch message, tho on an Ubi forum (across the sea) there was a post that "Sir Ariam Arcanum has taken to bed with a large Halas Heater and a Ten lb pie..." even though it was really the Guardian, LOL.

It almost seems like it validates the "rogue programmer" theories you hear floating around...

I'll 2nd that thought. Over 20 hours so far, 8 kills, ZERO drops.

After all the trouble for the books, the Velious BP, and all the skills needed, the final step is being held up by this insanely rare mob/rare drop item found in a random location in a wide open zone.

Last kill I had to race a bard to the mob who happened to hit tracking and see the mob. We both got there, he backed off not really knowing what it was, just that it looked like something to kill (high con mob). Didn't matter, ghoul didn't drop item anyway.

Finally got my item! Took another 3 hours on Saturday, but my quest is finally done.

Tip to you ghoul hunters out there...

Don't try to force camp it, you will just get frustrated. Bind yourself nearby (sro soulbinder works) and just check out sro / oasis everytime you log / gate, etc. You will end up getting the ghoul eventually but without the frustration.

If you aren't a tracking class, check the following locations:

S Ro: Anywhere in the desert. I've found the ghoul's most often right near the DE camp. Just do a quick scan and see if you spot him. If people are hunting the AC, see if you can talk them into letting you know if they spot the mob up-- that works well too (although the ghoul didn't cooperate with the drop).

Oasis: This is where I got my drop. He seems to spawn most along the north side of the spectre lake. If you run and search from the NW corner of spectre lake to the docks and then north past Takish'Hiz dungeon you will most likely spot him. I have occasionally seen the ghoul on the orc highway, but this was very rare. The ghoul that dropped mine was at the docks.
