Gnomish Greetings!
17 kills and 48 hours camping with no anchor. That is too much time to be only bad luck. It is a rare drop at least in Oasis. Consider yourself lucky.
Oasis: Don't just kill ghouls, clear an area. If he doesn't spawn clear at least once in 2 hours clear all wanderers. I can't tell you for centainty but it appears that he may be on a named cycle and will not (or has a lower chance of spawning) when the following are up:
Arthikus
Cazel
Hatar
A Madmen (as apposed to A Dessert Madman)
An Asp (as apposed to A Cistern Asp)
It also appears that there may be at least one common spawn in the cycle. I have found that if I have not gotten him to spawn in 2 hours, I clear wanders in the south the named cycle starts spawning again.
It seems clear that the spawns do not have a fixed spawn location and can spawn at any wandering start location. I have had the Ghoul spawn in 5 different locations. (pretty sure although I did not see him spawn)
If you are hunting him please please do a camp check and respond to camp checks. It is very frustrating to spend hours on end clearing the zone to have someone come up and whack the spawn you caused.
Anyone else have any tips, even a particular spawn dance?
