Lewena's Drink and Brodder's Revenge, Summarized

OK, I've put together a spreadsheet and a database (which is a straight import of the spreadsheet) listing all the recipes in the DNC thread so far. You can find it here:

New assumptions.

Going by the original recipe, we're looking for one hard liquor (the "vodka"), one ale, one spice or spicy item, and one egg. There may be one or two additional components, and there may be multiples of one or each. I'm going to assume there are no extra items and no duplicate items in the recipe for now.

Going through all the DNC's, I found a few that came out of left field (anyone remember my turnip ale idea? ). So, I removed the really wacky items from the list. Here are the unique items remaining for each slot:

Bearing in mind that Brodder has all but confirmed that we need to use Aviak Eggs and Habanero Peppers (though possibly in a subcombine), that leaves us a search for the ale and the hard liquor. If we assume that it uses an Aviak Eggs and a Habanero Pepper directly, that gives us 27 recipe possibilities. Of these, the following have been tried (all with Aviak Eggs, Habanero Peppers, and CBSN):

Feral Furry vodka ?

Feral Furry vodka , sold by barkeep rawlf in shar vahl .
require Luclin, but then, habanero are from pop.
Not flagged at tradeskills, but ... who knows ?
will try to get some avial eggs and see.
(lots of strange beers and ales in shar vahl , too. )

You've left off underfoot brown from the ale's list...

Probably because no one's actually tried it in a combine yet. My list was made up purely from the recipes in the DNC thread.

Run some tests, try some combines, let us know what you find with it, and I'll add it. =)

A weird thought....

...and most likely a dumb idea, but:

Has anyone considered that `Hair of the Dwarf' might be literal, instead of alcohol?

I know some of the Frost Giants in Velious drop beards, but don't the Coldain drop them, too?

When I first read that 'Hair of the dwarf that bit ya' hint, and a few others scattered in the posting, I RELLY thought braided beard of the coldain would be used. It isn't tradeskill flagged though. How reliable is that tradeskill flag? Is it possible it's either still used in the recipe or possibly use some shears and the beard to get a 'hair' to be used in the drink?

Some things to think about. Brodder, come tell us a story please! *sits down at the bar and starts asking for rumours and stories about his favorite brewer*

this thread totally intrigues me. i looked up a real bloody mary recipe.

1 1/2 oz vodka
3 drops tobasco
3 oz tomato juice
juice from 1 lemon
1 salt
1/2 worcerestershire sauce


i looked at the other thread noting all the things tried. i noticed the ratio.

im thinking that there needs to be more veggies in the mix to match the real recipe?

1 vodka + 1 tobasco (when recipe is found) + 2 or 3 vegtables + 1 salt + 1 aviak egg

here is another recipe:

3 ounces tomato juice
1 ounces vodka
2 dashes Hot Sauce
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
Pinch celery salt
1 lemon, juiced
Ice
Celery spears, for garnish
1 jalapeno pepper, slivered, for garnish


not sure where this egg comes in.... but....

maybe this is the equialvant:

3 ounces tomato juice = 3 veggies
1 ounces vodka = 1 vodka
2 dashes Hot Sauce = 1 spice (or tobasco)
1 dash Worcestershire sauce = ? the egg maybe?
Pinch celery salt = 1 salt
1 lemon, juiced = ? some kind of fruit ?

but what thinkers? in his poem he states in the begining:

why would he mention clerics if not a clue. something imbued by a cleric perhaps?

i mean, if you are talking about curing a headache, whoelse better to turn to then a doctor?

I'm thinking the cleric bit is just because he plays a dwarven cleric.

In a sad way, I'm kind of hoping they DON'T put in any give-away clue NPC's in the game. I'd rather it be an obscure clue like Brodder's been giving us. Much more entertaining to try and decipher it.

I remember the clue that was added to the Aid Grimel quest for the Party Platter. It wasn't obscure, it was a plain give-away. (Granted, the clue was needed as there was NOTHING whatsoever to provide guidance -- but we have Brodder! ) I'd rather do a bit of thinking and deciphering to get this one done.
