    Hot & Cold at the same time? Hmmmm...just a thought. I've had turnips that had a little "bite" to 'em.

    • It appears...

      I read through the last years worth of posts, up through the current. If my mind didn't fog over too much from all the reading and forget/misinterprit something, it would appear there's a chain reaction waiting to happen. What I see is this (and maybe why the slight hints concurrently of "hot sauce", Brodder's Revenge, and Lewena):

      Hot Sauce is the subcombine needed in what is an easy recipe for Brodder's Revenge.

      Brodder's Revenge is needed to give to Lewena to get her to talk.

      Lewena then talks and divulges one or more recipes through talking, a quest, or awarding a recipe book.

      I have yet to see anyone tie these together and state it as I have just proposed, but that's what I think to be the chain of events waiting to happen.

        • Not quite. We've had indirect confirmation from both Brodder and Maddoc that Brodder's Revenge and Lewena's ale are two different drinks, though they appear to be related in some way. The best guess I've found is that you give Brodder's Revenge (which is designed to be a hangover cure) to one of the drunks in Shadow Haven; then that person will give you a hint or a quest that provides more information on Lewena's ale.

          But you're right, the Hot Sauce is the first major step in getting this chain reaction going.

          I can't help but wonder. Would the Hot Sauce have uses beyond Brodder's Revenge? I imagine bakers would be interested in it...

          • I strongly suspect it's the halfling on the same porch as Lewena. He's three sheets to the wind already and probably needing something.

            • bottle

              I'm kinda worried based on some previous comments that the hot sauce component will require a special bottle

              One of brodder's comments referred to checking the SOL A bartender for new bottles. Has anyone done this?

              Second, I would point out that HOT and SPICY toelings merely use "Spices" as their ingredient. This implies that spices at least CAN be hot.

              Also, another thing that might point to a SOL A solution is the fact that two of the NPCs on the deck with Lewena have the word SOL mixed in their first names as an anagram.

              Could someone PLEASE check the goblin bartender, and post what his inventory is.

              BTW, another thing I have been mulling on is this : in reference to brodder's comment about some people never look down, if you look DOWN the inventory of the bartender on the deck, the last preset item in his inventory is also the ONLY combinable one "Soda". I would also note that Bicarbinate of SODA is used for upset stomachs.

              Anyway, those are the thoughts I've had on this.

              • I didnt have time to read this whole thread so accept my apoligies if someone has covered this but this "hair of the dog" in the original post caught my eye and a search yeilded

                "Hair of the Dog" -- This English expression dates back to 1546: "I pray thee let me and my fellow have a hairs of the dog that bit us last night," from "The Proverbs" by John Heywood. Although there are individual and national preferred "dog hair," they all stem from one pedigree, more alcohol mixed with about anything. Examples: Vodka, egg yolk, pepper and salt (Poland); brandy with peppermint (Switzerland); tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce (American); whiskey, hot water and sugar (Ireland), and restauranteur Toots Shor’s "Bull Shot," -- a good shot of whiskey, ½ cup of beef bouillon, two teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce, two teaspoons ketchup, dash of pepper, two dashes of vinegar, the yolk of a raw egg; drink in one gulp (New York).

                Again someone maybe have this covered already but I didnt have time to check all the posts

                    The SolA Bartender isn't a vendor.

                    There is, however, a goblin merchant in SolA. And in Runnyeye, as well.
                    Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
                    Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

                    • There's a Gnome vendor in SolA also - he's the one that sells Tink bags. He won't sell to me, though, doesn't seem to like Necros. If I FD I become indifferent but I can't right-click him, so there's no way for me to check his inventory.

                      I wonder if this has anything to do with Brodder's comment about Gnomes making "good ale carriers?"

                      • Near the bar in SolA is a goblin drunkard that drops a frothing tonic (or something such as that) that has a healing effect of some sort. Perhaps it is now earmarked as tradeskill?

                          • I think we need another clue.

                            ~~~
                            what we know so far:
                            Since the post about Hot Sauce was in the BAking forum, I think we can assume it is a Baking combine. Mixing bowl or oven? I'm leaning towards mixing bowl.
                            Vinegar is an ingredient (derived from Brodder's comments about what Ogres drink & what the drinks are made of)....
                            Veggies or fruit may be an ingredient.
                            The something spicy/hot ....could it be a cross-skill ingredient, much like alchemy's fennel is used in creamy fennel sauce (ground garlic, maybe?) or foraged (like wild radishes, turnips or frost turnips?)
                            ~~~

                            Gotta try this once I get home.

                            • Loremaster Fronden has a secert family recipe he serves one of his customers at his bar, he also mentions someone coming in and asking for "Frostreaver's Frozen Vodka". I dont know how to get it to talk else about it, or if its just him talking, i tried a few things about asking about it, but it did not work.

                              Not sure if anyone has mentioned that, i appologize if so. But since's dains name is dain frostreaver, maybe that is in refrence to the dain ale?

                              • Mabye the Frostreaver's Frozen Vodka is something new? I do happen to know there is a Kromrif Spit Vodka that is sellable in Kaladim that is tradeskill flagged. Now if we look at this logically, the Kromrif are the frost giants that the thurg dorfs really hate. So the frostreaver is a dorf, so who hates dorfs? If anyone is able to merchant in the giant town, please tell us if you can find something like this, it might be the brew to cure what ale's us. Check out the brewers and see what sorts of drinks they sell.

                                Sorry, but I'm right now killing giants so I can start my thurg armor quests (and the ring quests so I can make thurg gate potions), otherwise I would.
