  • Anyone else notice....

There is no recipe of this quest calling for baking skill is there? Maybe the stone silk needs to be cured in an oven? Really reaching on that but it seems odd to me that baking was forgotten on this multi-skill quest.

    • I noticed that everyone is using "stone silk" from the stone spider. Maybe that is not the correct silk. Maybe you need to use regular silk/swatch and combine it with a stone or a skin like stone spell, and the pattern or something, to create a stone silk object.

Stone silk seems like the logical conculsion, but given all the combines people have tried, maybe it is not.

      • Hunch

So after reading much conjecture about the durable stone silk recipe I had an inspiration. What about cockatrice egg oil?

It seems to fit with other known tailoring recipes as well as the stone theme. After all cockatrice are supposed to turn people into stone.

I have a couple of stone silks bagged and some oil about, will give it a try tonight. No insert pattern to use I'm afraid but maybe it will work for a pre-combine.

        • Just confirming that:

Sea Foam Sugar + Moon Harvested Grapes + Yeast + Vial of Purified Mana

          Produces:

          Palatable Purified Mana
          Magic Item No Drop
          Slot: Primary Secondary
          Charges:1
Effect: Palatable Purified Mana (Casting Time: Instant)
          WT: 0.1 Size: Tiny
          Class: All
          Race: All

The spell effect description on the item matches that at:

          http://lucy.fnord.net/spell.html?id=4423&source=Live

Note that the description talks about a group effect with that increases mana regen, int, wis, and mana pool. But that only the mana pool increase appears to be implemented so far. If it is ever possible to make this item without turning in a Tome of Miragul and if the effect is changed to match the description, it might be worth a vial of purified mana, a sands of ro and some running around.

            • For those who make the various types of Palatable Mana, could your please report your brewing skill, whether the combine was trivial, and whether you failed at all? If you did fail, did you get back the Sea-Foam Sugar or the Moon-Harvested Grapes?

              Thanks.

              Edit: Updated to here.

              • sigh, wel, I've been following this for some time, and I'm absolutely certain you guys are on the wrong track. This is why.

When talking about the insert, he gives you a pattern and says it must be made of "durable stone silk to withstand the energies of the phylactery". You guys are off a bit imo. You are reading it like this:

DURABLE STONE SILK to withstand the energies of the phylactery

when it should be read like:

durable STONE SILK to withstand the energies of the phylactery

meaning the silk, in being stone silk, is already durable, else it wouldnt need to be specifically stone silk, we could just durabilify(or whatever you wanna call it) average everyday spider silk. due to the fact there is only one gap in the central string directly after the silk, and the pattern of ID number placement, I would put this as being a no subcombine thing, and we need some sort of other item with 1-2(I doubt more are needed) stone silks and the pattern to make the insert. an insert is the lining of a box/container to prevent liquid contents from getting in/out(or in this case energy) and to pad the contents of it from smashing around against the sides, like jewelry(or the garnet). it is usually applied to the sides of the box via paste or sealant. what we need probably, is, as someone posted, a pelt/base insert material to weave the silk into and reinforce, which would be an item anlready dropping, likely a pelt, probably having something to do with either stone or spirits or etherealness, perhaps an embroidering/tanaan/ykesha robe needle, the insert, one silk, and the pattern. So basically it comes to this: what pelt dropping creature already exists that is related or directly connected to the spirit world, or is made of ethereal energy? Whats the material used for pop leather armor? that might be it.

                • And let's just hope it doesn't neet the as of yet unknown Sewing Needle that they tried using on the Lemming Fur Bag teh first time around. I've given up on trying to find it for now, but I'll give it a few more goes next time I get some spare time to sit and think....

                  • I think Grel may be on to something, anyone with the Insert Pattern want to try:

Stone Silk + Cockatrice Egg Oil + Insert Pattern

                    • I had 200 brewing skill + a geerlok when I made the Palatable Purified Mana. It was not trivial, but I succeeded on the first attempt, so I do not know if the grapes or sugar are returned.

The Vial of xxx Mana in the last two lines include Viscous, Cloudy, Distilled and Purified, but not Clear which I did not have on hand when I tried the different combinations last night.
