New Oracle Quest

  • OK, for anyone who hasn't visited the hole since revamp, it's way harder.

    I 2boxed Ench+Cleric, duoed down to the first castle just past some water, where I got a lvl 46 SK DC pet, gave it 2 weapons, hasted, virtued, it had around 6k hp buffed, and was quadding 121.

    I was getting torn up past the city part when you start going down the ramps. Mobs were tripling for 270, when slow landed after tash and 10 attempts it did next to nothing, couldn't mez anything, had 2 mobs in camp almost constantly, came close to dying repeatedly.

    I finally got to in front of the tower. I breathed a sigh of relief because the tower is all undead, and the undead are considerably WAY easier than the golems and gargoyles (being fully slowable, not MR, mezzable, charmable, and some casters so I could scryer's). So i stroll up, when I notice something ... FOUR gargoyles and FOUR ghosts right outside it. I start pacifying, I single pull a gargoyle, I pull it way back to the flat area before the temple, got it to 70 or so, when a golem added. It's ok, I can do 2 ... then another added. I don't know where from, they seemed to warp from the wall. I had been fighting there previously, unless there was insanely short repop these mobs were coming from nowhere. I died, and am corpse summoning now. Next time I will take some melee and beg a porter to come for port out I guess. Disappointing as this is the only piece I won't have done with less than 2 people (bought firebone notebook for 3k, guildbank had velk spellbook).

    Anyways I didn't actually get past the outer wall around castle, so I didn't find out if/where safe area was, or see the roamer, but you need more than DC Ench + Cleric, unfortunately. If I had brought any decently geared (ssra+) level hybrid or tank we probably would've won, who knows.

    • two mages, me and a friend duo'd down to the gates, where i knew we couldnt break in, so when we cleared the wanderes and i timed it to be safe of when repops, i used eye of tallon to check the place out from our temporarilly safe spot. i seen several empty rooms in the tomb area and one 'fallen heretic' skelly in one of the rooms, only mob i seen down there as i recall, that means 'IF" dartain now has a ph, then dartain/ph and that one spawn are the only two down in the tomb's which should make it fairly safe to camp/log ect.

      i know i have been wrong and mislead before, but it could be the reason why no dartain has been seen, cept the one or two supposed reports, which probably randomly spawned him after the patch.

      • Been watching the old Dartain spot for a while now. Have a Monk feigned at the spot and using an SoS Rogue to scout around.

        There are two wanderers, for me at least one is a ruined construct and the other is a templebound spirit. The construct seems to just path down to in front of the Dartain spot, stop a sec, then turn around and path back. The spirit seems to have popped while I was feigned and watching, then after a moment it moved away. I've had it targetted since I first saw it pop, and it hasn't despawned yet. It has appeared down at Dartain's spot one other time, but mostly it's just been making a circuit in the large room you pass through on the way to the stairs to reach the tower. It seems to path around the room from mob to mob, pausing at each one.

        Something odd did happen, though I'm not sure why as I was scouting out other areas. I brought the Rogue back and the spirit wasn't in that main room. It took me a while to find it, somehow it had warped up onto the roof of this building. I was able to find it by standing on a grave to the right of the building and looking on top. It was still making it's circuit, as if it still thought it was in the room beneath it, so I'm not sure what happened to get it up there. Wasn't an aggro issue since I've been the only one down here for the entire time.

        Going to leave the Rogue and Monk here tonight and check my logs in the morning. Hopefully if Dartain does spawn he will have some form of emote or cast a spell so that I can cature it in my logs.

          No, just roamers from the first and second tunnels.

          There are 4 fallen heretics and 2 roamers (templebound spirit, broken/ruined golem) in the basement of the temple, where Dartain used to spawn.

          Nope. Golems, gargoyles and the fallen heretics (despite the fact that they look like skeles) are not undead.

            Every 4 minutes, more or less, a golem appears in the tunnel there near that flat area and walks out. It's a lousy place to fight.

            On the other hand, once you kill the two golems that wander through the courtyard of the tower, you can invis to undead and walk right into the cellar without any gargoyle aggro. Just be sure to stay under the roof when going through the west archway.

              This is true, the gargoyles will not aggro you when you are not in their LoS (which is easy to avoid). however, the fallen heretics (one in the left graveyard near ghost of golonar and 3 of the 4 in the basement) will see thorugh IVU, as they are not undead. I believe they are summoned mobs. When SoE did the revamp, I think they just copied the existing spawns down there (except dartain of cours >:[ ) and changed stats on them, and added some drops. Ive had fallen heretics drop charcoal and iron oxide for me. I'll grab a gold plated koshigata with the dismiss summoned proc and test this tonight or tomarrow.

                Actually when I was down there last night the Ghost was in the basement, right hand room as you enter the area leading to Dartain's old spot. He was static, didn't budge an inch all night that I could tell.

                BTW - Stayed logged in to both accounts all night, Rogue upstairs and Monk in basement. Both had the Templebound Spirit targetted, the one that roams down to Dartain's old spot. She didn't depop for the entire 7 - 8 hours I was down there.

                  They don't attack me. I assumed it was because they didn't see me. Maybe they just like me.

                  • Update on Tome of Miragul...
                    Reported today, in serverwide channel, that a tome dropped on Kael server -reported when it happened, wasn't an old report, from an ancient construct....(was linked in channel, broken link though since thats the german server)

                    After clearing my way down, and being WAY lucky - ancient was up, stumbled across it, didn't drop tome, but was able to find his home base, and I would have gone right on by looking deeper and never woulda found him if he hadn't been up.....here's what I've learned..

                    an ancient construct - roamer, spawns at about (160,384), small path route, has a ruined construct as a ph. Both named and ph hit in the 160ish range, spells land fine, probably 10-12k or so hp, maybe as many as 20k, don't think so though. Respawn is 12 1/2 minutes. One ratman roamer paths by, same respawn timer, and every now and then I seem to be getting another roamer from behind, towards the gargoyle building to the south of campsite. The 'a spirit of the old city' in the fountain to the east of camp site has a 30 min timer, so the extra add that I'm getting could be on same timer, have only been here about an hour and a half since I got the spawn point nailed down - this is the only roamer through where I found the ancient (Ancient dropped a sacred key, and a Rock Helm of Defense (ac 25, str/wis/agi/dex 5, hp/mana 35, mr 5, plate classes, no drop)

                    I've got the next couple days off, so I'll be here a bit, and will be sure to let everyone know if a Tome drops from him. about 7-8 PHs so far...

                    • Interesting. When I was looking around The Hole last Friday, we had ancient constructs spawn 2 or 3 times in different parts of the city. They appear to be able to spawn in place of any ruined construct or at least any that are far enough into the city to be dark blue to 65.

                      We had the same helm you got drop off an ancient construct in the library and they always seem to drop the key. If they also drop the Tome of Miragul, it seems to be a rare drop or to only drop off a specific ancient construct spawn. I would think the rare drop is more likely.

                      • Stuff from EQRPG vignettes

                        Hopefully this might trigger some thought for someone.

                        The story behind the vignettes revolves around Befallen, especially Marnek Jaull, and Miragul.

                        The Befallen expansion refers to bringing out the phylactery as well as gold runed black weapons when Marnek Jaull is brought back to life and trapping his soul in the phylactery. Back when the expansion came out no one knew how to make the gold runed weapons but that it might be found at EQRPG.org - it wasn't.

                        Opal Dark Briar hints about restoring the original power to the Wand of Marnek in the Freeport expansion through doing her a favor - again no one figured that out if it was made active in EQ.

                        The Oracle was able to steal Miragul's phylactery with the help of Vazaelle Kaleine. Miragul was trying to become a demigod by means of becoming a full lich but his alternative was apotheosis like Vazaelle which apparently has more strings. Anyhow, from the Everfrost expansion it sounds like Miragul will reward people who help him complete turning into a lich within reason (suggests using the phylactery and an essence emerald). However the vignette for that expansion refers to using the phylactery to transfer Marnek's soul into Miragul's body to destroy them both forever.

                        None of it is spelled out as a recipe and unfortunately there aren't any real hints to the gold runed black weapons or if any of the stuff with Marnek is implemented in the quests. If they did, the quest has one of the best stories in the game and hopefully the full tale will be told.

                              These guys are all inside the broken coffins down there, if you are a short race, or just move fast, you can usually avoid aggroing them.

                              This is correct. the golem "mini"named can spawn in place of any ruined, broken, or destroyed construct. There are 2 (maybe 3?) different golem named, the old construct and the ancient construct are the two I have seen/killed. Maybe the Tome is a rare off any named?
