Got an Ancient Tome of Lost Lore from an old gargoyle today (and almost had a heart attack when I saw it). Still no Tome of Miragul however.

Ever intrigued to look at stuff that people don't yet know I have been spending a lot of time walking around the Hole (65th rogue with SOS and escape). There are certain mobs that can see through SOS, and it seems to be only Destroyed constructs (sp) and not all of them. Dartain's old spawn point seems to have very little there and I believe that he is somewhere in city, as the rock barrier has fallen in, he has prolly relocated. Still trying to find him, but not really sure where he could be. A GM told me that it was very sensitive information and they could not say anything about him, but to her knowledge the spawn was not broken. I am not a tradeskiller, but a friend is and we are trying to move this along. As a point, how much do you reckon one of these books would sell for atm? As a rogue I am always considering the business side of things, haha!!!! Good luck all, hope you get it soon )).

maybe ancient tome of lost lore is meant to be turned in, perhaps to the 'protecter of the ruins' (the guy i think really is dartain :P) or perhaps he needs something given to him to jog his memory as to who he is/was whatever, could also be you need to hand something in to one of the ground untargetables, like the ghost 'corpses' that lay around you can open a trade window with them but i am not sure if this is the best idea, they like to keep stuff. either way if this is the case i would assume that there would be a male ghost corpse somewhere.

Killed Guardian of the Seal and his cronies this morning (1 group kill for Time geared group, with 2 clerics, bard <me> doing the pulling to split them)

The guards dropped the piece for the fusible core quest.

Killed a bunch more ancients as well, and still no Tome of Miragual... lots of rotting helmets, bracers, etc etc

Incorrect itemization on the Euro servers is a running joke to the players there.

Of course, I'm in no position to really say whether the book is on an ancient construct or not. There's been one same ancient construct up on the Rathe for 3 days, and I haven't been able to pull it without training and killing my group. I've killed all the old constructs that spawned for 3 days, and none of them had it.

Dartain simply IS NOT up anywhere else. In between dying to that 6 construct pull around the ancient, I have explored the rest of The Hole. I've been behind every rock and into every dead-end. He's not in there hiding.

My current crackpot theory is that Dartain is a triggered spawn, perhaps triggered by an action in another zone.

Some mobs in the Hole are not trackable, like Guardian of the Seal. That said.

I have a friend who has "better than track". Dartain has not been up. My server has crashed twice in the past week, and also the all servers downtime, making for 3 downtimes. Friend checked right after servers came up in all 3 cases, and later on as well. No mob close to named Dartain has been up at any time. If he has a PH, he should've popped at one of those times.

Has anyone IDed whatever the book is that's been dropping? Or tried turning it in for that matter?

My guess is the spawn is broken. We've killed Guardian of the Seal 4 times now and not seen anything different.

edit - POTR is lvl 75, and for a different, also large, quest. I'm seriously doubting they'd make this huge quest and that one tie in to the same NPC, it's not their style. I'm also guessing you can't engage him, although I haven't tried.

POTR cannot be engaged.
He asks for 12 pages to be combined in some no drop books and gives you one such book and also acts as an information NPC about the 3 portals behind him (paineel, neriak, and erudin).
The only way he could possibly tie in was that the combination of the 12 pages = Tome of Miragual... I hope this is not the case, as that would add a very significant chunk of time into completing this quest

Ok, final 100% sure, no question about it.

The Ghoul of Takish-Hiz can spawn during the day.

Really, for sure. Regardless of what people might want to think.

Spawned him 5 times, 3 of them were during the day. The 5th time I killed him (finally had anchor), he spawned at either Noon or 1 PM.

For sure.

At least I got another Ring of the Ancients during this silliness...

Oh yes, a little addition.

I think, from some experience, as well as tracking, that the Ghoul is on the normal rares spawn table for South Ro.

So, the best plan is to kill everything. Cept the vendors. Clean the desert as much as possible.

But let's pretend you can't do that, but can track. Then find these creatures and kill them:

A dry bones skeleton
A young ronin
A Sand Giant
Ancient Cyclops (just in case you weren't planning on killing him)
Terrorantula
Terrorantuling
Sand Giant Hassam
An Orcish Raider
A jackal (that has spawned in the desert, not in the green area)
Anumnan Dathy (warning, harder) - named quest Madman
A madman
A Sand Mummy
Crypt Mummy (not sure, but kill him anyway, it's fun)

yes, on this list spelling counts. not 'a crypt mummy', but 'crypt mummy' and not 'dry bones skeleton' but 'a dry bones skeleton'.

You can also bag Moldrak Drin and his pet if you want (at the skelly tower thingy in the valley), as well as the couple of rares that supposedly exist, but I never saw (Scrounge and Gargantula).

Experience has shown me that these mobs (cept maybe crypt mummy and Moldrak Drin) are all on the same spawn table as the Ghoul (and as each other). I think they have a short spawn delay and only a few of them (maybe 3) can be up at once.

And be prepared to have him NOT drop the anchor when you kill him..;-/

ARGH! 9 hours, I can't get the flipping ghoul to spawn >

Don't do S. Ro, you can get him to spawn in Oasis much faster, just kill all mobs between Gypsies and N. Ro zone, just that section, ignore everything after the gypsy camp


I got him to spawn 6 times in a matter of 40 minutes and got my anchor


I started out in S. Ro and ended up making AC spawn 3 times in 5 hours, no Ghoul though, trust me Oasis is much faster
