Dang ask questions in the other thread and everyone gets all ancy, perhaps nobody wants to know my possible lead on the tome of miragul...................

Well i tried attaching pics but i am gimp and couldnt get it to work, there is a npc that is either triggered(trap) or about a 4 hour spawn, maybe both, similar to the wounded coldain outside kael in EW near the ramp.

In the room with the first water hole where you meet the first construct(metal golem type) there is an elemental lyin on teh floor, untargetable. but if you try to go by his feet you find there is something there unseen, near the rock if the gnome is there you should see him kinda behind it a bit.

Pellillo Cogswin. you go through the text and learn that the elemental on the floor had a page of magic, dealing with the beings in the hole, his brothers wanted to take it home for good but he had 'doubts' well both brothers wound up tearing it and each taking a half, one to dragon nec, the other to chardok. When you say you will do him a 'favor' you get two no drop notes one to each brother.

first one i found in chardok, being ally helps :P took me a bit to find him, i gave him teh paper and he said that i needed to kill Historian Selrin (even con to 65), who is next to the prince, i dont know if the turn in spawned Historian or if he despawns, i couldnt get help to do him tonight. i will check in morn see if he is still there.

The other brother in dragon nec, though i cant confirm yet, i believe he is in disquise, back near the tunnel down to Zlandicar, one of the buildings straigh out has 3 spiders, one is a small brown one called 'an odd looking spider' which i believe to be the other brother.

From here on, i dunno, might not even do with tome of miragul, but seems like a dang good lead to me.

Anyone thought that perhaps he's triggered via saying a trigger phrase?

I wonder if there's any reference at all to Dartain the Lost or the Tome of Miragul in the pen-and-paper books? Given that the quest does originate from the books, it's not unreasonable that there may be another clue or trigger phrase that we have to say in the Hole (either in a particular spot or to an NPC) that gets us going.

On a related note, people have been saying Dartain hasn't been seen since the last patch that kicked off this quest. The Hole was revamped just a few patches ago, if memory serves. Has anyone seen Dartain at all since the revamp?

seems historian despawned by the time i got up this morn to check, though i gated out before i thought to check the library, which is also a place mentioned he could be, but it hinted strongly he would be with the prince. So, have a crew ready, prob be a good idea to have prince room cleared ready for spawn, have non kos person do the turn in.

Went down to the hole last night and started exploring. Made it all the way down to the tower where the old Dartian used to spawn and of course there was nothing up. We explored and looked for any type of PHer (both up in the tower where the Shammy epic mob is) and down below in the basement (/curse mob spawn traps). Nothing. Actively looked for any type of ground spawn but did not see a thing. I need to bring a group down (instead of just a 65 bard + 65 mage) and just clear the entire area and hold it. My biggest fear that either the book is on another mob which is rare where the book is rare drop.

Who wants to bet a Tome of Miragul they put Dartain, untrackable, in the City?

I'll bet you that and a Firebone Notebook that they didn't. Make of these points what you will:

1. I've been all over the Hole 10 times in the last 7 days with my non KOS character and my level 65 hunter-killer. Dartain was not anywhere to be found.

2. I had someone with 'special' radar check to see if Dartain was around at all a couple times. Dartain wasn't available, and my acquaintance can see untargetable items like the emotes in the city entrance.

3. I killed most of the mobs in the city (except the gargoyles) 2 or 3 times. No Dartain popped there.

4. Beyond people at the zone and the occasional powerleveller in the city, I've not encountered people in the Hole. There's been nobody camping any spawns for hours, and hardly anyone but me hanging around below the ledge. If somebody's killing Dartain on my server, they are making surgical strikes and then leaving.

Think its safe to say that Dartain no longer spawns as he used to (timer or PH). I would bet that the Tome of Miragul, if it still exists in The Hole, is a ground spawn, or that Dartain the Lost is a triggered spawn.

Or SoE screwed up, go figure. Don't they have people that accually test these things before they go live?

Then my original assumption was likely correct: Until someone solves this quest, Dartain is LOST.

PS~ My halfling druid companion in slaughter found the gnomish historian, and the notes. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to find Stiggle yet. We're looking. I think this is probably related to the research tome quest for the portal activation, but who knows. The notes are pure caster only, no races. This guy is new, right?

Anyone tried charming that random erudite spawn that's down there and seeing if perhaps he/she will talk to you? Chances are it's Dartain the Lost and saying something to him or handing something in to him is the key.

First off stiggle is in Dragon nec, hiding as a spider, named 'an odd looking spider' i turned in the note to him today, it defintly takes a good group or two because he respawns as stiggil and is a kos 65 nasty mob, well hits for like 600, dispells, gflux, charm etc, not to mention all the **** spider adds and stupid constructs(no not spawned for fight just normal agro trash)

Pellillo is the guy you ask to get the two notes, he is the one in the hole.
