Has anyone considered that this recipe can only be done by dwarves??
It is my belief that the first paragraph of the last clue can only be done by dorfs in the dorf forge, hence my DNC list a few pages ago of combines in the dorf forge. If it was a baking/brewing subcombine, it could not be restricted by race.

I still have a nagging feeling that the Mystery "pepper" is an alchemy ingredient. after doing some research on the herbs many of them could be considered spicy and are used in Curry. The 2 on the top of my hit parade were Hyssop and Fenugreek, alas they yielded DNC with vinegar and salt.
Thanks for the bump, I hadn't noticed this thread previously(I'm an avid reader but not a frequent poster[actually just registered to post now because of this thread :-p]) New minds add new ideas, I don't have any atm but am stubborn and will work feverishly to come up with a few........New minds also need to be caught up, because of that new minds tend to revert to basics, so let's go back to original post
THis is something I've been watching for to be discovered forever...since well Scars of velious...and the pre SOL big Trade patch ...
You guys are ruling out haberno's because they are in PoP, in my view, this first sentence means we should rule out PoP AND SoL expansions for this recipe...
Tower of Frozen Shadow has chefs. My bet is that they are KOS to everyone and probably not going to give us any information. But in the spirit of trying to actually locate an npc to give us a clue, it may be worth trying to chat with them. A guildmate has the key so I'll have to wait until later to give this a try.
If you go by chef locations, there are ancille cooks in mistmoore (not dungeon) and chefs in skyshrine. I think they are just mobs to kill with a little color added.

and thought, "what does it mean to be ground fine?" and came up with the answer "to be made into powder" It occured to me that combining things in a mortar & pestle to make powder was a very PoPish thing to do, so I had a looksie to see how we made powder before:
Opal Powder:
In a Kiln: opal + jar of acid
Black Marble Powder:
In a Kiln: opal + jar of acid + celestial essence
So I tried:
Kiln:
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Celestial Essence = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Celestial Essence = DNC
For sake of argument I also noted that the only things I've seen people try are 1-4 scales in m&p so I tried:
Mortar and Pestle:
5 x Fire Drake Scale = DNC
6 x Fire Drake Scale = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Celestial Essence = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Celestial Essence = DNC
At the moment I'm running around collecting wines to try in place of the celestial essence.
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Dain's Choice Porter = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Fish Wine = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Red Wine = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + White Wine = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Winter Falls Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Dain's Choice Porter =
DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Fish Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Red Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + White Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Winter Falls Wine = DNC
(Note: These also don't work in an oven since i tried that first due to a brain freeze! :-p)
I'm 100 % sure I've missed a ton of wines so if any have any obvious exclusions that I've missed please try em or let me know to try
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Gypsy Wine = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Elven Wine = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Ro Porter = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Red Porter = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Gypsy Porter = DNC
Fire Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Faydwer Porter = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Gypsy Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Elven Wine = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Ro Porter = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Red Porter = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Gypsy Porter = DNC
Moss Covered Drake Scale + Jar of Acid + Faydwer Porter = DNC
Folks I thought I was clear the second recipe was submitted, but never implemented due to time contraints...
Though the idea of powdered drake scale (fire drakes) as a chili or hot pepper substitute does have Fantasy game appeal...
Concentrate on the first please the second was only included for completeness of the process of discussions with devs at time.
(I so wish that old message board had cache`d my old posts and dev commentary).
Sorry took so long to let you know about this, but life's got a way of intruding...
If I say it wasn't likely to be implemented in a previous post please take it to heart.
I'm still waiting like most of you for confirmation for that confirmation from EQ Devs on the Brodder's Revenge, Hot Sauce and Lewena's Secret/favorite ale...
We'd have hoped it'd have come through before EQ tried another expansion...they are coming too fast...a sign that the game's evolved past end game viability...content is where they need to refocus now...and we can only hope that they do remember us tradeskillers.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to this thread, only Brodder can clear this up, If he can of course. This is a thread I found from many moons/hangovers ago.
