Coldain Heater maybe used in this?

    • Oh yes,

it also more than likely requires subcombines(but not necessarily) see my post a page or so back for "possible" combination methods, there are, of course, hundreds more but those seem the most likely...

      • With a tear in my eye
a small bottle I did decry
Red and fierce it had to be
for it to finish this recipe
perhaps some type of poison vial??

A small fruit as fierce as a dragon's breath
Ogre's favorite juice to capture it's death
One list called for veggies, another for fruit
But a dwarf could capture best the firey loot
        Habanero
        Ogre Swill
        Coldain Heater

By mixing a bit of both, with the dragon's fruit
Foam of sea captured and caked.
WOuld in a cask be baked
        Sea Foam but caked?
Baked perhaps made in an oven?

        Aged by a brewer...
decanted into bottles many and small...
For a few drops, is a wondrous cure all...
For with that fire, all other aches will seem fewer...
Perhaps make this b4 and then put in a vial?

Thats my guess Ill see what I can do later tonight.

        • Well it's been debated numerous times, Ogre's favorite juice is most likely vinegar(if you go back and read brodder's diaries themselves, he talks about it briefly and only quickly mentions ogre swill as something not worthy to be drunk, thus not making ogre swill the best choice as a solution of this imo) is Ogre's favorite fluid...

If you want to take the first paragraph literally which a few posts have mentioned now then you look at this:

          small bottle - poison vial/regular bottle/something else

          [Edited because I'm stupid]

Let it be noted that I do not believe the first paragraph will lead to much for the final combine but /shrug never know, just furthering the options you guys have said...

          • Ok!

After doing a little deep digging,
Brodder had mentioned that he at one point suggested an alchemy ingredient for this(or some other, I'm so confused right now ) recipe but the mixing of tradeskill ingridents wasn't possible at time of suggestion(but may have been available at time of implementation as it is now). So I did a little digging around......... I'm fairly convinced and am going to add it to my list of possibilities that "allspice" may be used as part of this recipe.... It's been mentioned before as being tried but not with very much detail...

I am unable to get onto an EQ capable computer at this time... can someone do some combines for me and post the actual DNC list for me? Using Allspice as the "small fruit as fierce as a dragon's breath" if it helps you can use my equations of possible combinations on the previous page(or was it two pages ago?)

            Something like:

            Allspice + Vinegar
Allspice + Vinegar + Sea Salt/Mug of Sea Foam
            Allspice + Vinegar + Fruit
            Allspice + Vinegar + Fruit + Veggies
Allspice + Vinegar + Fruit + Sea Salt/Mug of Sea Foam
            etc etc etc....

Use different containers and tradeskill equipment(spit/oven, mixing bowl, brewing barrel, etc)

            Thank you!

                  • Been meaning to post on this subject, but had permission issues on the old login

                    Anyway...
I'm still trying to nail down the time frame on when this recipe went in as it can end up excluding a lot of items/zones. Trying to do a little bit more detective work before I sit down again and hit combine a million times.

                    I have two questions:

From the first post in this thread.
THis is something I've been watching for to be discovered forever...since well Scars of velious...and the pre SOL big Trade patch...
Was it the 2 year anniversary patch or before/after?

Another thing that caught my eye from the first post.
And if anyone's found the references?
Does this mean there is/was a reference in game?

                    ----------

Thought on Coldain Heater: The first time I recall any mention of Coldain Heaters was after the release of SoL. Although the recipe uses ingrediants from SoV, the recipe was written in one of the books that were used in the Solstice Earring/Protection of the Cabbage quest. It also uses an alchemy componant in a brewing combine which is not something that recipes released prior to SoL did that I can remember.

                    • The only problem I have with Coldain heater in hot sauce, is that there really isn't a reason to believe a liquid is used as part of the hot sauce recipe other than the ogre's juice based on Brodder's remarks... Granted, this doesn't rule it out, but it also doesn't lead to a very compelling case...

                      • One recipie called for veggies, another for fruit...

Just got a W.A.G. here, but don't you get Ginesh or something when you combine fruit and veggies? I know that to make really potent concoctions, you sometimes need to make a 'tincture' using ethanol instead of water to make it more concentrated.

by mixing a bit of both with the dragon's fruit-

It's a subcombine, probably in a mixing bowl. Vinigar + 'dragon's fruit' + whatever he means by one recipie calls for veggies and another for fruit + spoon? = the subcombine

Take subcombine + sea salt (or mabye cask of sea salt made with mug of sea foam + cake mold or something) in an OVEN. Possibly using a number of vials to decant into here or possibly another subcombine to decant using poison vials + that product.

That's how I am reading it. I may be wrong, but that is my assumption and I am sticking to it.

Oh, the Peppers ARE foraged in PoFire as well as PoK. So it's not a PoK exclusive.

                        • I maintain Allspice as the best pre PoP option for the "small fruit" I just don't see any other option that would make sense, unless I'm missing something obvious....

                          • I agree with the post regarding ONE dwarven looted item instead of both a veggie and a fruit being used.

First of all, the 2 lines say "One list called for veggies, the other for fruit, BUT a dwarf could capture best this fiery loot"

The other reason is because of the first line in the next paragraph...

By mixing a bit of BOTH with the Dragon's fruit.

which most simplified sounds like a bit of 2 items with a "dragon's fruit" in a mixing bowl...

we know that one is an Ogre's favorite juice (most likely Vinegar)... so there should probably be one other item and the text sounds like someone said to use veggies, and someone said to use fruit, but only a dwarf could come up with fiery item that he looted that worked in the recipe.

                            • First in the poem Brodder states "a small bottle I did decry" I believe in this context that means he needed it.

I have been thinking about the baked and caked salt. Perhaps we should try a kiln? That would be similar to a dehydration process. Though the poem does say baked. Another salt thought, has anyone tried combining the mug of sea foam with saltwater seaweed and/or bag of sea salt? Perhaps it takes more than one type. /shrug

I read the "But a dwarf could capture best the fiery loot By mixing a bit of both with the dragon's fruit" as one sentence even though it's seperated into two stanzas. So to me "dragon fruit" (the hot spicy ingredient) gets combined with fruit & veggie. This after it's mixed with Ogre's favorite juice. (maybe bog juice since vinegar doesn't seem to be working?)

Brodder has mentioned that there are most likely sub combines for this.

Coldain Heaters are used to make Coldain Velium Temper. Isn't that part of the Shawl quest? So wouldn't that put it in game before SOL? Allspice is a definate idea, and I still like the idea of garlic even if it's only available in Neriak.
