  • ehhe well yeah he's only said it a dozen times or so that if he wouldn't eat it its not going in. Its bag of sea salt or nothing. Rules out limestone that was also recently mentioned and he already shot down stone fruit i believe. Also made it clear that he wont eat parts of creatures that are intellegent so that makes almost all 'parts' suspect. Also said no prickles so anything cacti like is out.

All that aside we still dont know if habenaros are the primary element.

Its akin to trying to find the right key for a car and not even sure what car you are tying to open.

Yes a tomateo would be a godsend in solving this but its looking more and more like thats not it because its not in game.

On a complete side note there might be an Anti-recepie out there designed to kill dwarves on contact, maybe a poison that should be looked into envolving saltpeter, jum jum, cactus and creature parts.

p.s. the pickling was in reference to vinegar and what it does to stuff, so yeah vinegar is in the recepie but pickled stuff isn't. However something pickled could possibly be the result of a subcombine, i.e. pickled dragonheartvegifruit, or maybe simply pickled habenaro.

Saw that on your list seems like a possibility far more likely then all the others.

Wish we knew if this process actually had a subcombine and more importanly in what container that subcombine was to be done in. It does seem likely that its mixing bowl but it could be brewing or even an oven pre-combine.

      • I still don't believe habaneros can be a possible choice, its foraged...

        • I thought saltpeter is used for explosive. Saltpeter is not a condiment.

Would be nice to know if we shouldn't bother with foraged stuffs like habenaros, fruit or vegies. Almost takes us back to square 1 and its odd that fruit and vegi are mentioned.

Garlic was mentioned earlier I might try and find some time to give it a testing, perhapse it will yeild some results.

              • I still think we need to look at the vegifruits category. Something that can be considered either or. Its pretty obvious in his poem thats what hes talking about, and a pepper fits it perfectly. However, there are many other vegifruits that could be a possibility.

                • Saltpeter was used once as a meat tenderizer. In fact, it was rumored that blackpowder was created by a chef trying to make a better sauce.

However, I believe we can safely remove this from the list...

                  • I like the whole vegie fruit idea. One thing that stuck out for me on that list was cucumbers. Pickles are nothing but pickled cucumbers so I think pickles might be a possibility? (Yeah yeah, who would put those in real hot sauce?) Lucy turns up a "Coldain Pickles" and a "Dwarf Pickles." Not sure if those are types of pickles (aka pickles made by coldain and dwarfs respectively) or if they're pickles made of them (which would rule them out as possiblities).

                    • Has anyone tried to do something with the Ripened Mango thats foraged in Plane of Growth? I believe its not tradeskill tagged, but its a fruit that came out with the velious expansion, so couldn't hurt

I've been silently following this thread and experiementing on my own with different stuff. I know that foraged items are kinda not being looked at, but aren't fruits and vegetables foraged and not vendor sold? Many of the easier recipes needs foraged items, so I don't see why this wouldn't.

I'll keep plugging away on my own and post results when I get them organized

See Boomba the Big by the gates in West Freeport. He sells all sorts of pickles, including Paladin Pickles (Mmmm....).

                        • 1 list called for vegies another for fruit but a dwarf decided to try a pickle instead.

Somehow this doesn't seem right to me, but my all mean try, we really dont have much to go on at this point. Its likely the recipe calls for tomatoes and they forgot to code them.

                          • This was brought up a few times before but shot down for various reasons (/em recalls his infamous Turnip Ale idea). There are a number of vendor-sold vegetable-like items scattered across PoK and Luclin. The most prominent one that comes to mind is the Freshly Cleaned Vegetables in PoK, though there are a number of others. Anyone think it's worth re-checking those, or am I going out on a limb?

I seriously doubt it's the racial or class pickles; Brodder's pretty clear that he's not a cannibal. Besides, I object to the paladin pickles just on general principles. Those should be reserved for quiet, intimate occasions between ... well, never mind. Suffice it to say I can't see anyone in their right mind trying to brew with Paladin pickles.

On the other hand, mebbe we should chat with Boomba and ask where he got his pickling juice!

Oh, and to (mis)quote Brodder, "NO JUMJUM!"

(Did I mention that I really LOVE the new smilies? )

Well this is probably far off, but this recipe has got me intrigued. Someone mentioned something earlier about using Cactus or cactus drop having something to do with receipe.

I Just saw Succlent sap on a vendor from Kunark of succlent ____ (insert rest of name) and its tagged tradeskill and for posion but could it be a piece to the puzzle. Just my two cents.
