I dunno... but it seems to me that it's asking for both Fruit and veggies in the mix.
Perhaps sub-combines, like with the "three types of Hero Parts" clue.
Vinegar + Fruit + (mystery item) & Vinegar + Veggies + (mystery item). Or perhaps just Vinegar + Fruit & Vinegar + Veggies, then mixed with the mystery item.
There also seems to be a line missing, right after "By mixing a bit of both, with the dragon's fruit"... or have I just forgotten it in reading your quote?

I have finally gotten around to getting some garlic and testing a few things, so far nothing simple. I'll test more systematically later and post with my finding, I just have a bad feeling it will be a big waste of my time
OK I know this is a stretch and I can't remember if they have tradeskill tags - but what about the wild radishes from Kithicor? I was thinking maybe they are horseradish!
Still haven't managed to pickle a dragon egg, sigh....

well, Brodder's Revenge has been solved sans Hot Sauce... so perhaps that's why we couldn't figure out this recipe? =p anyone over on test got a baker to look this one up too? Maybe it doesn't even exist. oooh the frustration!
