    some dnc

very sleepy after a long night at work and not sure if someone else already tried these combos, but I was bored making CE and coldain tempers, and I had these things on me so I tried out of curiosity. If they are repeat DNC from earlier in the thread, I apologize, I just want to get to bed. heh.

    Used in Mixing Bowl:
coldain heater + firewater + spices + jug of sauce = DNC
coldain heater + water + jug of sauce + spices = DNC
coldain heater + firewater + vegetables + spices = DNC
coldain heater + firewater + spices = DNC
coldain heater + firewater + vegetables = DNC
firewater + water + jug of sauce + spices = DNC
firewater + water + jug of sauce + vegetables = DNC
firewater + jug of sauce + vegetables + spices = DNC

I couldn't remember if this recipe pre-dated velious or not, so while I had the coldain heaters, figured I'd try em out

Just catching up with the threads...

Did anyone try grounding the peppers first? In a mortar and pestle? May be?

Hot Sauce will NOT contain a habenaro pepper. The pepper we are looking for would have been in the game circa Scars of Velious according to Brodder's post.

With a tear in my eye
a small bottle I did decry
Red and fierce it had to be
for it to finish this recipe

A small fruit as fierce as a dragon's breath
Ogre's favorite juice to capture it's death
One list called for veggies, another for fruit
But a dwarf could capture best the firey loot

By mixing a bit of both, with the dragon's fruit
Foam of sea captured and caked.
WOuld in a cask be baked

            Aged by a brewer...
decanted into bottles many and small...
For a few drops, is a wondrous cure all...
For with that fire, all other aches will seem fewer...
            ------------------------------------------

A rarer recipe of a different sort was scale of red drake
Killed or harvested by a lake
            Ground fine, mixed with wine.
Rare spiced added and a powder of fine garlic might do
what others could not, and uncurl a gnome's whiskers thrice
with only a taste from the bowl and mixing spoon.

(Second recipe was never really discussed past the first one)
NOTE-- these clues are based off discussion notes with DEVS over 2 years old now...and in no way should they be taken as gospel. they are just a working point to start from- a reference...

that some have just happened to work out is good news...
I just hope SOE/VI/EQ is on same page as me...

well for now that's it me ladds (n lasses)...
nary a clue more shall I give, less drunker then I am ye can make me...
            But outright recipe...nope...sorry

              Useful clues :-)

I think these clues could really lead to some progress...

I wish I wasn't at work, so I could try some of these out.

              For what it's worth:

small fruit fierce as a dragon's breath - still sounds like habaneros to me
ogre's favourite juice - ogre swill?
mug of sea foam involved there also.

              Second recipe looks like:
fire drake scales (assuming the lake refers to lava) - maybe ground in a mortar and pestle, with red? wine.

Ground garlic is a poison ingredient sold in 3rd Gate - along with red hellebore, which could conceivably be the rare spice. These are used to make corrosive solvent, which sort of fits in with dissolving something like a drake scale.

I remember Brodder hinting about a DE quest which involves brewing - so whatever is produced here may be used in that, although with the spoon and bowl this sounds like a baking combine.

OK.. thinking a bit more (dangerous, I know - especially when at work...)

The first recipe I assume is for the "Brodder's Revenge", "hair of the dwarf" or whatever you want to call it (for the unsolved SH quest).

The second is for the hot sauce - which I then assume takes the place of "dragon's fruit" in the first??

I'm confused about a few things though (I'm still not fluent in drunken-dwarvish)...especially about what are sub-combines.

Maybe combine the pepper with something (ogre swill?) as a sub-combine. Another sub-combine for the stuff about fruit, veggies etc...maybe a sort of vodka?

Then combine those two with the hot sauce and sea foam in a cask. And maybe even another combine to bottle it??

But shouldn't there be aviak eggs involved somewhere??

Maybe the "dwarf could capture best" bit refers to them as they are only found in butcherblock (not that dwarves can forage)... so perhaps the second sub-combine really refers to egg nog XXX (which contains veggies and fruit.. well berries anyway).

Hmmm... sorry about my unstructured rambling here - but maybe some ideas for people to work on :-)

A small fruit as fierce as a dragon's breath
                  - habanero pepper
Ogre's favorite juice to capture it's death
                  - vinegar
One list called for veggies, another for fruit
                  - two recipes, one with fruit, one with veggies??
But a dwarf could capture best the firey loot
                  - not sure what a dwarf would do best - after thinking about this... perhaps in the Kaladim cultural forge!

By mixing a bit of both, with the dragon's fruit
                  - two recipes above again with another habanero
Foam of sea captured and caked.
                  - mug of sea foam baked somehow
WOuld in a cask be baked
                  - in an oven with a cask

A rarer recipe of a different sort was scale of red drake
                  - drake scales
Killed or harvested by a lake
                  - still drake scales
                  Ground fine, mixed with wine.
                  - one or two in mortar and pestle, then mixed with wine, assuming in brew barrel
Rare spiced added and a powder of fine garlic might do
                  - rare spice, hmmm... and garlic
what others could not, and uncurl a gnome's whiskers thrice
                  - gnomes have whiskers?
with only a taste from the bowl and mixing spoon.
                  - mixing bowl and a new spoon?

My take on it, going in game now to try these things out.

I read recipe one to be veggie, fruit, vinegar, bag of sea salt, cask & habanero pepper (even though it wasn't in game until PoP) all baked in an oven. Results would then be brewed into the smaller tabasco style bottles. I've seen posts of folks looking for the bottles Brodder has mentioned, but no reports of finding them.

Recipe two looks to me like Red drake scale in motar & pestle. Mix that with wine, ground garlic & "rare spice" in a mixing bowl with a spoon. (dairy spoon?) I wonder if by killed or harvested the drake scale could be a ground spawn. Brings to mind the moss covered drake scale found in Steamfont. (lake near by? no water in Steamfont, but Ak'non has water)

Today is a busy one for me, I don't know that I'll get in game at all. But I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on Brodder's latest clue.

Yeah - I think you are right there about the sea salt - that explains the "captured and caked" bit

                        Second recipe:
Red drake scale I'm taking to be Fire drake scale but I don't know how to grind it or it's the wrong scale. (Looted off A fire drake in LS)

                        I've tried:
1,2,3,4 scales in a mortar and pestle (collapsable & regular) = DNC
Those #s + (1 & 2) fish wine, white wine, red wine, elven wine, gypsy wine, water, celestial essence, jar of acid in mortar and pestle = DNC

Tried 1-4 scales + 1-2 fish wine, white wine, red wine, elven wine, gypsy wine in brew barrel = DNC

Didn't try using multiple types of wine in any combines.

Could it be a refference to a poison vial of some sort? Small enough for "tabasco sauce" type bottle...

What about in a mixing bowl.
From the look of the recepe, 2 combines in mixing bowl, then together again in bowl and bake.
Just a thought while I'm at work....
