I spent this morning trying random combos of

        Firewater
        Jug of Sauces
        Spices
        Vinegar

to no avail. I tried combos of 2 and three of specific items right down to just "firewater+sauces". All DNC. It occurs to me, however, that I neglected to add water in there somewhere as a possible ingredient, so may have to do this trial again.

oh. And I tried all of the combos in a spit, mixing bowl, brewers barrel.

I didn't see that listed as an ingredient in the DNC lists. (though there are a couple threads on this subject and I may have overlooked it)
On the same note, Ground Garlic is a poison-making ingredient, and seems to be commonly found in many real-life hot sauces. Alas I've attempted just about every DNC that's been posted with the addition of garlic and gotten no results. Same with Allspice and Cinnamon (there are a few hot sauce recipies out there that utilize these ingredients, as bizarre as that may seem. A google search for vinegar allspice or vinegar cinnamon turns up a few )

Brackish Water is foraged in Cobalt Scar, marked with a tradeskill tag, and has no known use to the best of my knowledge. ::shrug::

I found a few of these on a vendor the other day and thought of this thread... Everburning Oil. It is foraged in the Plane of Fire. I tried a horde of combines all with no luck... In oven, mixing bowl, and all 3 jar sizes. With vinegar, spices, veges and Jug of Sauce...

              No luck.

I discovered the Brackish Water forage today. Wouldn't Brackish mean it's salty? And it is a velious forage marked for tradeskills. The other thing I thought was interesting is that it is labled as a whistle wetter.

Sounds useful, but nothing I combined with it worked. I wonder about that ground garlic. I'll have to find a poison vendor and check it out.

C'mon Brodder let us know if we are on the right track.

So what would a dwarf cook with...

This ol' dwarf got to thinking
What would I cook with when I be drinking?
If I can use brew while I be smithing
I could use brew while I be mixing !

(ok so bad rhyme - blame the beer)

Try throwin in some Dwarven Ale when testing ye recipes! If dwarven ale works well in the forge - perhaps that is all the "hot" ye need.

Ever wonder why no one has discovered a recipe for Dwarven Ale? What's the secret ingredient that makes that stuff so desired by us dwarves?

                    Only vaguely on topic:

Yes, flour is used in sauces, but not of the "hot sauce" variety. Flour and butter cooked together makes "roux" which is used to thicken many sauces in traditional french cooking.

Same with Allspice and Cinnamon (there are a few hot sauce recipies out there that utilize these ingredients, as bizarre as that may seem.
Not that bizarre, if you are a fan of "jerk" cooking:

                    1/2 cup ground allspice berries
                    1/2+ cup packed brown sugar
                    6 to 8 garlic cloves
4 to 6 Scotch bonnet peppers
1 tablespoon ground thyme or 2 tablespoons thyme leaves
                    2 bunches escallions (green onions)
                    1 teaspoon cinnamon
                    1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
                    Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons soy sauce to moisten

Yummy! Hot and tasty! Though personally I would add some lime juice to make it a bit more tart. Mix in a food processor and marinade your meat in it overnight and grill over real charcoal.

                      I am currently experementing with....

                      Cup of sugar
                      Jug of Sauces
                      Spices
                      Vinegar
Soda Water....because the bottle of texas pete in the fridge uses soda
                      Water flask
                      Fire beetle eye
                      Fire drake scale
Moss covered scale.....it looks like a fire drake scale and Brodder has used it before in brewing.

If you are in a mood to try these as well feel free. I am going to try and document the exact DNC off these items soon.

ok i jsut did a search for all the sauces/glazes on the board and these are the ingredients:

                        4jug of sauces
                        2spices
                        2vinegar
                        2milk
                        2flour
                        2cream
                        red wine
                        white wine
                        water
                        fennel
                        benzoin
                        eucalyptus leaf
                        brown algae
                        frosting

ok so jug of sauces is used the most and then a 5 way tie with spices, vinegar, milk, flour, and cream. now i know in chili you add chocolate to improve the taste. Brodder is useing odd ingredients so i wouldntd discount it until eh says no. so from what i can tell the mixing bowl is a 4slot that has vinegar, sauce, possible spoon and xxxx anybody think i'm off track?

elven veal......test of hate-elven delight perhaps? and is it possible to find out if it is tabasco or hot sauce?

Does anyone have any info on when this recipe went live?

If it was before PoP, then, say, we could rule our planar drops.

According to the DB, Ground Garlic is only sold in one place. Neriak. Rogue's guild in the Third Gate, to be specific.

Tweedledea, Brodder said he's been waiting for somebody to discover the recipe ever since Velious, so I'm willing to bet that PoP ingredients are, indeed, unlikely. Luclin too. Of course it never hurts to be thorough (well, it might wound the sanity a tad) and since you really never know, it's probably best to not rule anything out if it seems appropriate.

I found a "Essence of Fire" that someone had sold to the merchant at the druid port in lavastorm. (IIRC it drops in lavastorm/sola) I know it's for a temper, but may have another use. Flagged for tradeskills, and something that might go into a norathian hot souce. Might be worth testing.

has anyone checked Kael? their are merchants in there, but the list on the site only had tradeskill mob drop information, but no information on tradeskill items sold there. (i was pretty sure there were at least JC items there, but maybe i am wong).

Maybe something has been tagged with a tradeskill item on one of the vendors who sells food/drink and no one has noticed. i cant check because i do not have the faction unfortunatly.
