  • I remembered this quest and the doll, but there was something different about it.

Looking back it appears that the text of the quest has changed.

I wouldn't presume to speak definitively, but it certainly appears that this quest was changed, possibly with PoP, so it may still be of value.

      • how couls rizlona be necessary to access sol ro? im pretty sure that sol ro was dead for a week or three before rz was killed the first time (back when the encounter was too bugged to beat legit) if rizlona is in water foh couldnt have even seen it before they took sol ro the first time back in october or november.

        • 1: Rizlona is IN Temple of Sol Ro

2: Temple of Sol Ro minis (Rizlona, Jiva, etc) are accessable after killing Tallon, Vallon, Saryn and Marr IIRC.

3: You cannot get access the area to kill Sol Ro (the god) without killing Rallos

4: You don't need to kill Sol Ro to get into Plane of Water.

5: This is all irrelevent to this quest or tradeskills. The book details that you have to kill (and collect flags) from all 5 minibosses in ToSR before you can get in to kill Sol Ro.

          • You know - the suction cups off the giant krakens in powater could be construed as being tray- or platter-like. Anybody tried those out in combination with the powater foods?

            • Someone with the supplies might want to test out some combines with smithing components from POWater to make a platter. here are just a few ideas off top of my head:

              e'cian ice + chisel = e'cian metal bits
e'cian metal bits + povarian mist temper + some type of mold = ?
              e'cian metal bits + water + some type of mold = ?
              e'cian metal bits + suction cups + file = ?
e'cian metal bits + flask of pure water + some type of mold = ?

possibly a pottery made item using essense of bristlebane (whatever its called), laquered peridot (peridot seems to be tied in to bristlebane for imbues)....

just some suggestions for folks trying to test some combines.

Regardless of these guesses, i tend to think that possibly the answer to this quest is the simplest answer (whatever that might be)... Lesson to be learned from the Valdanov Zeefer quest that stumped so many people for so long, the quest was actually alot more simple than everyone thought. Some over sight lead to alot of wild stabs in the dark to solve the quest, and in the end, was just your basic Verant quest model. Kill kill kill til you find what you need.

Just some thoughts... the word "platter" indicates to me a multitude of foods to eat, so could possibly be multiple foods made from POWater zone combined with a platter... some rare drop off the Regrua in water that gives a clue to the haflings fate (which just hasnt been found yet).

hope this helps give some people some more ideas.

                  • I've been trying to follow paper trails to see if anything came up.

Waterlogged Journal (listed as CLR) drops in InnySwamp off Leatherhide. I have yet to get on to see if there is any text.

No idea about the Large Greasy Spoon yet.

And no new real infomation of the continuation of the Aid quests.

There is still the possibility that the final item/clue drops off a mob that has yet to be killed. There is still one last mob that hasn't been killed by anyone. The boss, just before Coirnav, in the script is a Regrua. /shrug

I've tried various "plates" from PoInnovation in the Wok recipe and came up with a lotta DNC's.

Going to try various Alchemy items just in case the tray is based off of the Woven Mandrake/basket stuff (along with using as many different bonings etc..) when I get time.

                    • I think the simplest answer is the right one. Because this Halfling Cleric was slain in the PoW, I'm quite sure that a book with the recipe or further hints towards this quest can be found either on a specific mob (albeit rare drop) or spawned on the ground in the PoW. You should concentrate your search in PoW as indicated, furthermore the rare item that this Halfling was searching for may be involved in making the platter or with the quest.

                      • Can someone explain the flags needed a bit more clearly? For example, the quest page says that for the second part you need Terris Thule - does that mean you need entry to Terris Thule's lair (ie, PoNB flag), or that you have to have killed Terris Thule?

I'm GMed in 4 tradeksills, but smithing is not one of them yet, only 201 in smithing. When I do hit the required smithing level, I suspect my lack of flags will hold me up. I'm flagged for PoNB, CoD via quest only (not grummus kill), PoV/PoS and BoT.

The way I read the quest page, once I do have the smithing, my quest only CoD flag isn't going to get him talking. Is this correct?

Part of why I'm asking, my guild has a joint raid for Grummus planned in a few weeks. Each guild can only bring a max of 36 people. I have the feeling my guild leader is thinking that since I'm already CoD flagged via quest, I don't need to go on this trip to make room for others. I want to understand this better so I can explain it to him.

                        Thanks

                        • You need to explain to your guildleader that if you are flagged only by quest, you cannot progress further into the planes without going back and getting the kill flag. For instance, lets say your guild wanders through COD and kills Bertoloxxus, you will be unable to progress with them past Berty until you go back and kill Grummus. The new raid rules that allow 85% of a raid to be flagged and the other 15% to be unflagged would not really help you because if you go LD and drop the raid, you will be instantly ported back to the Plane of Tranquility with no ability to get back to your raid in progress.

As to the Aid Grimel quest, I would use that as a secondary argument, but would focus the primary argument on not getting left behind. The quests were very foolishly designed and basically all of the flags eventually require a raid force.

I still have no idea what to think on the Aid Grimel Quest -- but working on getting my first flags so that I can start the Smithing bits!

                          • I think everyone is reading too much into the halfling slain in the powater stuff. Unless an actual recipe drops off Cornaiv (which if it does and takes a loot spot, expect screaming) no printed recipe exists. It is more likely that the text from Aid Grimel is a 'hint' like the text of the hero sandwhiches was a 'hint'. The problem is Aid Grimels hint doesn't help at all. The sandwhich hint at least explains what items to try '3 different types of hero meat', that narrowed the things to try down a bit. It might sound odd to complain about this but there are millions of combines you can 'try' using just food items, because aid grimel doesn't explain anything about what is in the platter. Then you have the problem of the actual platter. Is there one or not, no one playing knows.

I'm a little bitter about this quest atm, the sixth earring is nice, but without a level seven earring it's annoying. Moreso when the logistics of 'guessing' the right combine is so staggering. It really annoys me that I and others worked hard to get all the items and skills up to the sixth step, and we are now reduced to guessing which things to combine.

Don't take this the wrong way but if you have to worry about getting a flag from a grumms kill or if it means killed terris thule or access to terris thule in PoNb then this probably isn't the quest for you.

The level of the flags you need quickly rises and you need at least 3 or 4 steps on the earring before it's even worth considering wearing.

As far as i know the flags are always having killed said mob and sometimes require going threw the flagging diolgue afterwords so TT flag would the flag from having killed terris thule.

                              • Agree totally with you there Naedayr. I've spent literally several days /played chasing my tail on this darn earring. I don't mind putting in the work, but the way the quest is so openended and with so little to go on, means we really have no clue whether we're looking in the right direction.
