  • I've gone 1/1 on most of the combines while going 1/2 for the robe and 1/2 for the bow.

My success rate for the normal bows started out so low that I reliquished bow duty for my guild and started letting the rangers do most of the attempts. The Rangers have had a higher success rate then I have (I'm Shaman). I've also stopped doing most JC work as JCM3 kicks my a** to the point of *almost* being overpowering, hehe...

On the other hand, I've had very good success making Earth/Fire silks with failures being somewhat rare.

    • edit: also, might want to update the quest page -- clockwork grease is combined in small jar, not medium. And the final bow combine requires a planing tool. Great work on the compilation!
Thanks for the corrections/updates! They're fixed on the site now.

The following information is like 3rd hand and not verified
          *******************************

I was asking a friend of mine to keep an eye out for anything that sounded remotely close to a Bristlebane Party Platter and he mentioned that he thinks his raid to Basition of Thunder might have looted soemthing long those lines on their way to the nameds. I hate to say it but he's pretty sure it (whatever it happened to be) was destroyed as "Junk Loot". Having never been to the Bastion of Thunder i'm not exactly sure what he is talking about but I figured somebody might know and the information might be of use. Has anybody done some serious hunting in BoT? Might be worth a look...

          • I spent a LONG time hunting in BoT when we first got there, before it became over populated. It's either an obscenely rare drop that hasn't even made it onto either Lucy or Magelo yet, or your friend was very much mistaken.

Grimel says a female halfling cleric went to Plane of Water for a rare componant. That to me does not say, 'Go to pre-elemental Bastion of Thunder and get a tradeable drop of the complete platter'

            • For some reason I think his friend is thinking about the "Card of Bristlebane". It's a brand new research item and I could easily see it being confused with the platter due to Bristlebane's name in it. I've had like 4 guildmates of mine all show the card to me thinking it's what I was looking for.

              • Something Ashur wrote in the first thread when he checked out the baking step:

My baking skill is sub-200 and Aid Grimel tells me if he wanted bad food he'd go back to Rivervale and eat some of that slop Ella passes off as fine cuisine; and to come back when I have mastered the frying pan.
Perhaps Ella has some insight into the recipe.

                • ella foodcrafter is a quest npc for druid/ranger epics. I tried talking to her but she wont respond to anything I try. She is also a follower of karana since when you hail her she mentions karana so not consistent with the bristlebane text. I think the answer is something more along the crab cracker where the recipe was from another quest like maybe the councilwoman has some info if you help her out.

                  • The female halfling cleric mentioned was a quiet salute to me by the dev team. Unfortunately, that reference doesn't come with any extra knowledge or insight into the recipe.

I was told that this recipe was meant to be akin to the hero sandwich recipe, which took a bit of digging and a LOT of baking experimentation, to come up with the working recipe. The impression I got from the brief comments regarding this one was that there was no in-game source for the exact recipe, and it was going to require folks start mucking with various ways to prepare some of the planar drops.

                    • Thanks for the info Naimi. That's gonna save us a LOT of time, now we can focus our efforts in one direction.

                      • Yes, thank you.

We at least still know that the "rare" component came from Plane of Water.

                          • And me being me......

Based on the general comments, the recipe could include a combination of several finished products made from the planes or it could simply use Cracked Reruga Meat as it's common base (like Hero Parts). Or be like the MTP were you have PoP based drink and food used in the final combine.

                              • Couple of updates on Step 1

                                1) Skill of 214 + a 15% mod confirmed to work to receive quest, Vaslin was able to start his at this skill, and now has 3rd ear complete.... looks like it most likely requires something along the lines of 220 unmodified, or 230 modified... geerlock won't cut it, but as with ethereal bricks, a higher mod% will.

                                2) Cleaning the breasplate trivial confirmed at 227. I realized the extreme ease of skilling up by cleaning bps at 226, unfortunately, I got a trivial message as soon as I got a point - did not do further testing for trivial on tempering the bp, as I had no tempers to test with - missing only drops of pure rain for..umm...bout 8 or so tempers.

                                3) Sacred waters - these appear to be...umm...a feminine canine =) unless I'm totally missing an easy way to get these, ya need more than just a single group to work the camps, as the entire camp appears to be linked to the proper model dudes - monk worked for a bit the other night trying to pull em, couldn't split em off, had to clear from the outside in, which, with a pretty solid group of 65s, took nearly until respawn to clear enough to pull 2 yellow named (couldn't split) that hit 700s and were unmezzable... haven't done extensive testing on that yet, but looks like you need 2-3 groups to be able to mow through them effectively enough to get enough sacred waters in a reasonable amount of time..one group could handle it, carefully, once they get the hang of pulling and split the spawns, etc..... but those guys are rough enough that one mistake or LD, and odds are you'll get wiped or have to zone/evac, and you'll end up messing up respawn time on the mobs...... all the mobs there seem to have way too many hp for their level, exp is comparable to back caves per mob, but I'd estimate 2-3x the hp per mob, or way higher regen rate... either way, those guards take far too long to kill compared to other zone mobs that give the same exp.
