Update on pottery step - you do NOT need the flag you get from Maelin after killing both zeks - Prior to tonight, only pre-Rallos/sol ro flags I was missing were Saryrn and Tallon Zek - couldn't get text.... got Saryrn flag tonight, talked to Maelin, and after turning in ring for 3rd signet, I was able to get the urn pattern - unfortunately, I did not check after getting Saryrn, but before talking to Maelin... Still missing Tallon Zek flag, so apparently simply having one of the packs of notes from the Zeks is sufficient. =)

    So far...
Smithing - 6/6 successes for the 2 bps..
Brewing - 6/6 on the double constitutionals..
Jewelcraft - 2/4 on the pure velium bars (ouch), 2/2 on the rings

Got signet 3, and ring to turn in to replace it soon as I make my urn... =) Pottery only 233 atm though, so might try to skill up a bit more unless I have more divine glaze on my potter than I remember

Have anyone checked Plane of Mischief lately? Was years since I was there last, so this is just another wild idea trown out. PoM is Bristlebanes plane after all. Maybe there are clues to be found there.

Well, I did some experiments, but not enough to bother listing here. I ended up with 20 different pop baked goods to try combinations with. Assuming that the recepie uses 10 items, that still leaves a huge huge huge number or combinations. Even eliminating some I am sure must be part of the recipie (like Slarghilug Stuffed Poppers), there are still way to many combinations. I tried 10 or 20 likely ones, but got a bit discouraged by the number of combinations. Way too many to go thru myself.

Hmmm...as that information about the Zeks doesn't seem to contradict any prior confirmations (i.e. no one tried it with just one before), I'll add it tentatively...but secondary confirmation would be nice. Thanks for the update guys.

Now have a sacred urn and an unfired urn, just needing sacred water now...
233 Pottery + Geerlock, 2/2 on unfired urn, 1/1 on firing...
And don't have Tallon Zek flag yet.. =)

Question on the Sacred Waters - Do they drop from any of the human models in PoV?
I know that Grenic Drere can drop sacred water, a guildie had one drop from him the other week (and was ninja'd before I could get there to loot =( )... as far as the 'guards in tents' goes, I'd imagine that these are the guard outpost buildings straight out past graveyard? And if so...do any of the guards drop, or just the ones inside, and not the perimeter guards? Have yet to have any drop from there, so not sure if I'm having crap luck so far, or killing the wrong guys =)

Why are you doing the quest 6 times?

Also, Can anyone verify a failure on the Sacred Waterx3+Signet combine? Wondering if its like a glaze or celestial essence combine (very rare if not no-fail combine). Making the urn won't be too bad at 220, rather do that then have to do another 20 skillups so i don't poof the Sacred Waters

                    • he isnt doing it 6 times, he's doing it twice
the 6/6 smithing and 6/6 brewing refers to the 3 combines for each of the steps. and he would be doing it twice in order to have a second velium ring for hp/mp and worn eb, as several people have mentioned

                      • Actuallly....dont care about having a second ring, its..well... not all that great at the upper levels of the game.. very few folks who are able to get to the elemental planes to finish the quest would use it as anything other than EB gear to last til they get their elemental helm..... doing it for a second earring... having the 15 stats/10 saves/100 hp/mana/3 hp per tick regen ear as the lesser of two ears (assuming baking is the final step...more would rock though ) will most definitely be nice....

Any idea where it comes from and what it might be used for (other than a weapon or +5% baking item)?

                          • Have all the other Aid quests been solved fully? IIRC the Aid quest that resulted in the recipe for the Crab Cracker had a continuation. There's also a troll (or ogre?) that asks you to go to Ogguk to deliver several items to a friend. Maybe we have missed a quest somewhere within the library that would result in the coveted Bristlebane's Party Platter.

                            • Been looking into the other quests, mainly because of the Planar Manual quests converging eventually. Thing is, the Akanon linked quest that provides the Crab Cracker recipe, seems to end after you get the cloak and recipie:

Aid Fimli says 'Great! I see you got the items to uncle; perhaps he will stop badgering me now and let me be in my work. Hmmmmm, Uncle mentions in his letter that he worked out a way for a gnome to make a giant set of crab crackers. He states it is useless in Norrath but I may be able to make some use of it out here. I guess it wouldn't hurt to share it with you and file it away in the library. To create the cracker combine two metal rods, firewater and a knuckle joint in a toolbox. Interesting indeed, anyways here if your reward; I hope you can put it to good use.'
There is progression to the Aid Enio (sp?) quest but absolutely no indication that it converges with the Grimel line. Grimel's boss also seems to be the only one talking about 'heading to the planes and fighting' once he has the supplies. I would also be somewhat dismayed if this quest required racial faction.

Everything thus far has been entirely PoP related. I'd hazard a guess that the remained is also entirely PoP related. I still think Trila Cabbageroll is the key, and that the tray she is trying to reach possibly holds the elusive Platter, but due to the limitations of the whole hail/quest engine, it's just a matter of hitting on the exact (possibly misspelled) quest phrase.

I've spent literally hours standing there emoting, hailing, talking to her, I've also spammed the other NPCs in the building - only one who gave a hint was an Iksar speaking about bloodwater and the food he likes. All the standard foods from Cabilis were returned with the standard 'No thx' responce.

Iustus's random DNC lists were very useful, since they stop duplication of work. I even tried 3 x Buckets of crab meat + earring in bag, but that was DNC too (figured buckets were 'hard to carry around', and Bristlbane, being a joker, could refer to just about anything). I've got trackers to scout PoN, and they have noticed no new spawns. I've read the books in the library referring to halfers for a clue, and noticed nothing related.

Basically, this seems to be a step like the JC level earring, where you need the help of another NPC to continue. Trouble is, there is ZERO hint as to where to go next. I know I'm getting frustrated at wasting all this time, and I suspect the other initial discoverers of the quest are feeling the same. So depressing to have at the back of your mind the thought that the whole quest may be fubared at this point, and we'll have to wait 3 years for a patch to put a 'Ghost of Healalot Furrytoes' into PoWater or something silly like that.

I'd really like to continue this quest at a time when the result will actually be useful to me, but as the weeks go on, I'm getting closer and closer to upgrading my earrings to a point at which the next step would probably be banked. Would be really nice to get over this step before the whole quest becomes just another nodrop trinket in your (expanded thankfully) vault. Kinda at a loss at where to go next ((

That's mostly true, but not entirely. This quest cannot be completed without good coldain faction. You need to have the hammer, and you need to have the etching tools--no way around it (well, technically, if you saved the etching tools and hammer from some time when you DID have good coldaion faction, you don't need to get it up again). Meg Tucter also gives you part of one of the recipes (specifically added to her dialogue for this quest, apparently--not something left over from another quest like the coldain hammer) in addition to the etching tools.

Thus it's inaccurate to say there's no precedent to suggest our solution COULD be outside of PoP. I'm a little more disheartened by the lack of any verification that the quest is actually implemented yet, and the rumours that suggest it isn't.
