  • Or even Miragul in Everfrost

    • Imo, the phylactery is much more valuable than the robe. FT is cheap, and it's easy to hit the FT cap. On the other hand, the only places you can get hp/mana regen STACKABLE with the FT15 cap are off Emp Ssra, in VT, or in PoTime. The robe is barely an upgrade for me because I was already at the FT cap and because there are a lot of other comparable robes that are easy to obtain. I would have done this quest for the phylactery effect alone!

Btw, stats don't matter.. there's absolutely no difference between an item with negative stats and an item with +50 hp/mana.. if you have a better range slot item, you won't use it either way.

      • Actually considering that the next few quests to go in according to the stories in the EQRPG books talk about using it first to trap Marneks Soul and then to go after Miragul with it i am assuming that it is either upgradeable or needed for the future quests. The Upcoming Befallen quest also talks about gold runed blades used in conjunction with the phylactery to trap Marnek's soul .The info in the Befallen supplement also says there will be major changes to Befallen.

        • Beginning of Quest (Good Version)

You say, 'I have received your summons.'

Sir Artanis says 'Yes ______, thank you for responding with such haste. The Knights of Marr recently captured a Teir'Dal wizard who under intense questioning revealed a variety of disturbing matters. First, he worships Solusek Ro, which is no crime, but considering the nearby temple's past associations with the Burning Dead, specifically Marnek about whom you recently delivered revelations, then his other information seems even more dire. Secondly, he has admitted that he was in Freeport attempting to contact the leaders of the Dismal Rage for he understood that they have nearly completed a phylactery, a device that holds the mortal soul of a lich. In light of this, we ask that you visit the Oracle of K'Arnon in the Ocean of Tears to learn whatever you can about the nature of these phylacteries, including the means to create one so that we better know how to destroy them. This letter will serve as proof that you come in the name of the Knights of Marr.'

          Beginning of Quest (Evil Version)

You say, 'I have received your summons.'

Qrixat Du`voy says 'You have performed admirably in the past, so I shall overlook your tardiness responding to my call. One of our own has heeded the call of Solusek Ro over that of Innoruuk and is conspiring with that other traitorous cur, Opal Dark Briar. The wizard Salarz is a Teir'Dal now in the hands of the Knights of Marr in Freeport, but we have good information connecting him with the Dismal Rage and the Temple of Solusek Ro in a plot to create a phylactery. Somehow, this is connected to the news you brought from Befallen about the resurrection of Marnek. One who might know the answer is the oracle in the Ocean of Tears. Seek him out and learn what is required to create a phylactery so that we will remain one step ahead of any others. Go now and take this letter for the oracle with you!'

Why doesn't someone check back with the original quest givers? They clearly want to know if you have succeeded and may provide the upgrade! Just a theory -- still not phylatercy enabled here.

          • I tried handing in the mana crystals and the regular phylactory to Sir Artanis. He didn't want either =\. My guess is that this is for something bigger and that in the end we give it to Artanis for our reward.

            • By the way, has anyone handed in their robe or tunic to the Guardian to see what he'll exchange them for? Since I can't get a robe or tunic being a ranger, I'll leave it up to you casters to find it out.

              • Like a few people said (and I am not going to try and retype the stuff from the EQRPG books), the books suggest two routes:

                1) Help Miragul complete his transformation so that he can undergo autopoesis into a demigod like Vazaelle who inspired him. Evil folks who do this are supposed to be rewarded within reason. (Miragul wanted to become a demigod via liching rather than the way Vazaelle did. Apparently the price to Cazic was rather high.)

                2) Destroy Miragul by first trapping Marnek Jaull in the phylactery (which requires the gold runed black weapons and doing something either in Befallen or in the desert of Ro where he hid his canopic jar for his soul). Then forcing Marnek's soul into Miragul's body (or something like that) to destroy them both once and for all.

(see that Moderator tag - well that is for the Vazaelle marketplace, my posts and opinions should not be considered as anything but my own and not reflect poorly on the folks doing all the hard stuff here. )

                • Maybe this is related? Look at the text he says at the end:

And can you tell me the pages this stuff is on? I have the books, but I don't feel like looking through them all for this stuff.

                  EDIT: Fixed link, thanks Kryos!

                    Updated through here.

I still need a bunch of screenshots for the write-up. Any time you see a name in bold without a screenshot right next to it, it means I'm missing it. I'd appreciate any screenshots you'd care to submit.

Now that the tradeskill portions are complete, I'll be submitting it to EQTraders soon. I'll give it one more day or so in case we spot any glaring errors, then I'll send it in.

                    • KyrosKrane, I finally got around to reading your write up, excellent job! Just wanted to let you know, though, that at the end where you post the stats for the robe & tunic? Your transcription for the Tunic has INT casters listed and the picture shows WIS casters. Just a little typo

Congratulations everyone! I'm actually looking forward to the next patch to see how they change this into "a great tradeskill quest to rival the Cabbage Patch Earring Quest".

                      • Qrixat Du`voy did not accept either the phylactery or the dark phylactery. Nor the mana crystals.

text from Assistant Jeyular when you offer him the phylactery:
Excellent work. There is only one slight error that I have now corrected for you.

                        - is anyone willing to offer their grand robe to the guardian to see what he gives? still waiting to see what that yields. still farming kael for BPs.

                        • Anyone try talking with opal darkbriar? I tried talking with the paladin guild leader Valeron Dushire but he didnt say anything and didnt want phylactery or crystal. (valeron is the one the guard guy went to during the bridle quest) I doubt opal darkbriar would be the key, but maybe she has more clues. I looked for the 'captured tier'dal wizard' Salarz but couldnt find him in freeport with track. Ran to befallen and didnt find anything unusual cept for some red con gnome Teel i think, saying something about potions and asking for 'the four clues'. I also went to Temple of Sol Ro and tried handing in the crystals and phylactery to everyone with a name, even a keeper or two hehe and nothing. Which doesnt rule out possible text. I did hail them all and didnt see anything that would point to the phylactery, but then again i almost never go there so anything out of place wouldnt jump out at me. Has anyone done the horse bridle quest since this was implemented, perhaps some text was changed/added? Also, what is the evil version of the bridle quest? the quest is refered to when you start the oracle quest.

*tried talking/handing stuff in to the good opal darkbriar and nothing*

                              • Tae Ew bloodfiend spawn frequency...

How long have most people needed to camp to spawn the bloodfiend in CT? I saw one person who said that they had gone through 20 cycles without seeing him, but I assume (or at least hope) that that's bad luck -- I'm not sure I can convince my guildmates to spend that long on this one book and then still have any willingness at all to help me with the rest.

                                4 spawn cycles? 8? 10? Any idea?
