Or the palm leaf is made by breaking down some other item that might contain the leaf in some form. It is possible that you get it from another item. Just got off a 12 hr shift and brain not thinking fully on what items out there might yeild such a leaf if broken down and how ATM.

I remember a few months back I was walking in Hollowshade Moor, and found some ground spawn. Does anyone recall what the item was. It was a leaf of some sort, I just can't remember what.Jascenta Poolali

Platter requires drops from Plane of Mischeif, 8th Floor of Tower of Frozen Shadow, and the Plane of War, all combined in a Hen's Tooth (rare from from the Kracken in Lake Rathe)
Seriously though, look at the progression:
Step 1: Commonly found items + tradeable from PoNightmare (blood)
Step 2: Commonly found items
Step 3: Commonly found items + visit to Thurg
Step 4: Commonly found items + no-drop from PoValor (water)
Step 5: Commonly found items from PoFire + rare tradeable from PoFire (sap)
Step 6: Commonly found items from PoAir + rare tradeable from PoAir (staff)
Step 7: rare item from PoWater confirmed by Grimel, everything else is supposition.
There are a lot of food items using PoWater drops as a base, so my theory is that you have to combine all the known food drops with the rare drop, in order to make the platter.
The rare item I'm almost convinced is Crab Meat. Drop rate seems about correct to balance influx of earrings and/or the BPP itself if the quoted stats are correct. It also involves 'wasting' a valuable item (fire robe, air bow, 100/100 food?) in order to progress on the earring.
This is as far as I've narrowed it down, but it still leaves a million DNCs without a hint.
1: I think the 5 recipe giving 'Ironstove' NPCs in PoK might be involved for the subcombine items that go into the platter.
2: I think the platter itself 'may' have something to do with the npc in PoTranq, 'may' have something to do with the crab carapace, 'may' be an unknown tinkering/smithing/pottery recipe.
3: I think the search for the recipe is needlessly obscure, since it's a one time deal, and once completed, it'll be posted everywhere. I'm all for making things 'tough' to increase the sense of acheivement, but with no real ingame leads, it just comes down to blind luck, and random combines. No acheivement in picking random combination #32421 before anyone else

Demorgoth,
The Crab meat really isn't that rare. I have a full bag of Crab meat on one of my mules.
Based on DenMother's comments, earlier, it sounded like the reference to the Plane of Water was in reference to her death only and not a reference or lead on where to look for items for the recipe..../shrugAlchemy 200 Baking 250 Brewing 250 Fletching 250 Jewel Crafting 250 Pottery 250 Smithing 250 Tailoring 250 Tinkering 250 (Minitink)

Tying to the Palm Leaves -- I am reposting this thought here in the main thread.
I would consider the following as a means to get to the bottom of the palm oil issue, particularly considering Verant/SOE's spelling issues:
Balm Leaves

On topic... I think Tildareon's suggestion for the platter sounds the most likely so far. I'd bet you have to make it with pottery or smithing, as opposed to it being any existing dropped or bought item. Not to mention, I just dont think they'd be partial to eating food off anything infested with parasites.

This is a baking step (as described by Grimel), not a pottery step requiring at LEAST 15 pottery combines nontrivial at 250 skill.

How old are you Short? You sound like one of these 13 year old d00ds that likes to troll around boards and 0wnz0r people that they decide is a board n00b. Fact is, Ive been coming here since probably before you know what a tradeskill was, so keep your lip to yourself.
I haven't insulted you, so why do you feel the need to turn this into a Safehouse style thread and start the childish actions?
As for tradeskills, I'm closing in on 1750, so I wouldn't exactly call me a "noob" to tradeskills.Exarch Shortyrez Starfury

I'm maxed raw skill in all tradeskills cept smithing (226+15%), and rolled a few weeks after Beta. I also find the suggestion that this pop quest is linked to a hypothetical future upgrade to PoM implausible. Especially considering the GMs have been quoted on this very thread saying the quest is completable and ingame currently. Proposed PoM upgrade items wouldn't even be in the database yet, and PoM is no closer to being upgraded than PoHate, Nurga, Droga or anywhere else they mentioned in passing in the past.
Please take personal insults to the Primal Scream forum

I guess it might be possible to also use something like Leaf Encrusted Branch + whittling knife in a fletching kit to produce the Palm Leaf. or something.../shrug
Evergreen leaf used for dye may have a duel purpose....it can be found as ground spawn (GFay). Again /shrug
