You got to 190 in one day?

Nice. What path did you take?

    Mandrake --> Baskets ---> Backpacks ---> Quivers ---> Crystalline ---> Wus/Ribbons?

How much of a stock pile did it take?

    You almost had it :P

Mandrake --> Baskets ---> Greyhoppers ---> Quivers ---> Crystalline ---> Ribbons -----> Othmir caps (attempts anyway)

Didnt really require a stockpile...everything to greyhoppers is vendor purchasable..and I had 6 stacks of grehoppers from PLing in MS. Found a vendor in Bazaar who had 100 HQ cat pelts. Another vendor with almost 300 crystaline silks. Went straight into ribbons after I ran out of crystaline silk. (Being Queen Packrat, I had 3 backpacks of different dyes I had previously brewed). I would rather be beaten daily than ever make another piece of WUs armor. lol Just as my wrist was about to start protesting, a vendor put up 2 stacks of othmir furs. It really didn't take all that long to get to 190...I was kinda surprised. It was rather expensive, but that is another story......

I started Haversacks at about 215 and have made well over 20 of them with zero failures <knocks on wood> hehe
They always sell quite quick on The Tribunal server for 6kpp.

started haversacks at 199 - first one failed-

waited till 205 and tried another - since then I have made 18 in a row successfuly.

All I can say is THANK YOU KARANA! -Gained another 12 pts and now steady at 217 - all due to cash I earned from these wonderful bags!

18 successes in a row @ 3k profit each is quite alot of cash to spend on solstice robes -
Which incidently, one day I get 1 robe outta 20 attempts, the next I get 5 - outta 20 .

ONe day I did 48 combines on solstice robes and got 17 successes .

Not bad at all, but only one skillup in that process.

No one ever said it was gonna be easy. but man can't they make it less hard! lol

187 skill plus the %5 mod I went
2 for 3 on the 8 slot bags
            1 for 1 on haversack

Was I lucky? Guess time will tell foraging more tufts to try a few more.

            WOOT Hobbit tailoring pwns!

167 plus gearlock, 1 for 1 on backpack.
181 now, have enough for 2 more attempts at the 8sloter, no rush though as I can't seem to get enough acrylia to fill more than one bag.

So far I am 2 for 2 making Haversacks. I would make more if I had the tufts. *sigh* -- but they same to be rare on Lanys.

I have 187 skill plus a %5 geerlok which puts me at about 196 skill. I am currently 1 for 1 on the haversacks (not going to try another for a while) and 10 for 14 on the 8 slot back packs. I went 5 for 5 today WOOT Think Im just getting lucky but at least I get enough successes to cover my costs. Yet to see skill ups but at least Im not losing money....

                    Results

I was 3 of 4 yesterday with 194 skill and a geerlock (roughly 203 mod) so I was pretty happy. Of course the downside is that a fizzle costs around 1500pp (assuming BDs at vendor cost) and 27 Tufts (which are NEVER for sale on my server) so it's far from lucrative.

Dont even bother with 4/6/8 slot bags, just make the 10slots if you want fast cash. Personally i cant sell anything but 10sloters, end up giving away my "mistakes" (put in 3 threads instead of 4 after making 300+ combines of 3 tufts/patches). But thats just my opinion.

Did my first one yesterday at skill 180 (+geerlok), am pleased to say I was successful. Sold it on first auction shout in 45 seconds for 5250pp. .. nice tidy chunk of profit there. .. though I didnt have the guts to do another.

I figured at skill 180-200 with geerlok your looking at about 65-75% chance of success on Haversack. Cannot complain about that ... however .. /rude forage Tufts

Actually on Veeshan I sell the 8 slots EASILY at 4k (make them easily too) and the haversacks I have a pain trying to fet 6k out of. Everyone sees how good the 8 slots are but only monks get use out of the 10 slots since most ppl would save some plat and buy a tink. Sometimes I make the 8 slots since when I get large amounts of tufts I can make 4 8 slots instead of only 3 havers. 1 More tailoring combine to possibly get skill from and I still make a profit.

3 for 5 now on the 10 slotter (2/3 yesterday at 189 plus gearlock).

Traded one bag for a stack of acorns (hate farming them) and 3 tempers to a friend of mine, the other 2 I sold for 6k each. Have the supplies for a 2 more attempts lined up, except for the tufts. Buying tufts can get pricey when you know you'll need 2 stacks, minimum, after factoring in the failures of the pre-combines. Cheapest I have found them is 30pp each (in abundance) - those selling for cheaper have 1-2 only.

At 600pp a stack for tufts, plus buying the 4 (fail once every time in the kiln or barrel) BDs and the 3 plat threads, I'm pushing close to 3500pp invested if I buy everything - Tis a nice profit selling at 6k and could keep me buying supplies /selling bags for awhile, at least until I have more than one failure in a row. I won't press my luck, investing profit into skillup supplies.

Despite the difficulties, all in all you guys have a sweet route. Skill up -- even from pretty darn low levels -- and make a profit in the bargain. Good luck -- and I wish my elf, or ogre, or iksar could do the same!

                                /agree

I agree that the Halflings have a nice intermediate item that can finance some more skill-ups (so I'm not complaining) but I would think that robe races would actually have a pretty significant advantage when it comes to skilling up. I haven't tried this path yet, but I doubt the components are harder to get than, say 36 Tufts of dire wolf fur for one combine, heh.
