  • When to start leatherfoot haversack?

I'm sitting at skill 221 right now and was wondering how hard the bags were. I know they are easer then the halfling 250+ armor but what would my % be at 221 skill.

I started at 209 OUCH but all parts were provided and a nice cash payment on successes. I have made 100 or more of them since and only failed about 3 total. I fail the darn subcombines of tufts more often.

Are you doing it for skill ups or for sale? The cost is very server dependent because of BD prices. But still quite expensive if you do it for skill ups. The BDs are involved in a total of 4 combines (powder, temper, infused thread, bag), so lost rate is not terrible but significant.

Backpack (8 slots) should be pretty easy for you, cost 420 pp in platinum thread + 2 BDs, so may be 1600 at cost, assuming BD is 400pp each. I'd say 90% chance success rate.

Haversack (10 slots) is around 2.4K at cost. You should have 80-ish% chance of succeeding.

I am doing them for sale only and skillups are secondary to me right now I have gotten about 10 points on them so far just making them for sale.

I think I started on them when I was like 209 and had good success at that time. The trivial on them can't be much more than 250 due to the success rate I have seen. I sell the bags on Cazic-thule for 5200pp and very few ppl complain about it.

I have been making the bags since around 216. I have only failed 2 so far and have made 15 backpacks and 12 Haversacks. I have never failed on the backpacks. I fail more on the BD dust and the tuft combines. I usually will sell the backpacks for 4k and the haversacks I have not sold any yet. They all go to my brother who has twinked me.

heven't tried the haversacks yet, but done 10 backpacks, only failed on one at the final combine, with skill at 213, so a pretty good return. They seem to be a bit like Fleeting Quivers, in that the success rate is pretty reliable even before they are fully trivial (wonder if there's a variable in there somewhere). This being the case, might try a few Haversacks just to see.

On Anthonius Bale, monks don't even blink at 5K for a Leatherfoot Backpack. Not sure what the Haversack would sell for, but a Tink Bag can be got for 5.3KP or so, at weight 1.0 compared to haversack at 0.6, so they might not be prepared to pay MUCH more than for Tink Bag. One monk told me he'd prefer a backpack, at weight 0.5 - the extra bit of weight was more important than a couple of extra slots, since he wasn't in the habit of lugging lots of gear around.

The price of BDs on AB is on average 300-350. Backpack requires 3 BDs (not 2), which makes cost of production (without fails) about 1650PP.

I started at 209+geerlok I think, and I'm 9/10. Not much of a sample, but heartening.

They seem to have the same success rate as Othmir Caps, so you should be able to judge for yourself if the risk is acceptable.

I started Haversacks after gentle persuasion from Gello at skill 223 + geerlok. I have made over 30 combines and have only failed once! And it happen to be the only time I forgot to put my geerlok in, Doh!

I only make them when someone asks or I need a little extra cash. Been selling them for 6k on Karana server. It is a nice surprise getting a skill up when making a bag for someone. I'm now at skill 245. Been sewing anything and everything I can get my hands on. Oh and I have found that I can forage tufts while I do subcombines (bd dust, purified water, etc..) in Thurgadin. Some days the wolfs shed more than others.

Since I didn't find anyone who wanted those tufts, I created a halfling to give them to. Shes 1 day old, 190 Tailoring, 153 Smithing, and 133 Brewing. She attempted 1 haversack and made 1 haversack....guess these bags are easier than othmir, because she failed 2 stacks of othmir furs. lol

You got to 190 in one day?

Nice. What path did you take?

                            Mandrake --> Baskets ---> Backpacks ---> Quivers ---> Crystalline ---> Wus/Ribbons?

How much of a stock pile did it take?
