Do it before 300, you'll have a much better chance as 300+ is bugged.Mannwin Woobie - 75 Druid and Master Artisan

I failed 1 subcombine on a sheet early on, and the first 3 leg combines failed. I floated between 365/450str and 343/365wis.
Skill 256 + 15% = 294
BM3 + Salvage3
4 for 7 on the Ogre grandmaster legs
4 for 4 on the Ogre grandmaster bp
4 for 5 on the RZ grandmaster leg symbol
3 for 3 on the RZ grandmaster bp symbol
1 for 1 on the agnostic bp symbol
1 for 1 on the innoruuk bp symbol
1 more subcombine failure, so 2 scales gone to subcombine failures. (the initial brick ones that are 242 skill I think)
Given all of the bp/legs and their symbols are 386 trivial level, this seems like a good track record.
EDIT: mistyped a number
EDIT2: Another BP made but I didn't want to repostLast edited by Zeeko; 06-10-2005, 11:44 AM.

Most people with 300 skill just seem to be having horrible luck. Currently 345 skill and I've gone 1 for 4 on legs, 0 for 4 on bp, 2 for 7 on bp/leg augs, and 2 for 6 on a TRIVIAL black gold inlay (both successes were from salvaged scoriae ironically). There's a post on it in General. I made a ton of Farwater back in the day without the AAs and just 252 skill. I usually went about 3 for 5 on those. Yet with a closer trivial than Farwater I'm miraculously doing far, far worse. To me something is wrong here. That's why I say it's bugged. You can call it a run of bad luck, but I have others to back me up.

At 300 skill, and 315 with Trophy and BM 3, I seem to succeed by far most of my armour combines.
On the other hand, I fail more than half my BP/Leg augments, I'd go as far as as saying close to 2/3 of them... Which I just don't understand.
I have tailoring 251, 263 with geerlok I think and no TMastery at all, I have as good a succes rate with the augments there as with smithing. No difference at all.

I took up smithing for the sole reason to make GM Armor for my half-elf bard. After my last BP combine, my bard is 286 raw skill (300 w/ geerlok) and 425 STR with Wunishi.
Attempts:
2 for 2 on Breastplate
1 for 2 on Breastpalte Aug *
1 for 3 on Legs **
1 for 2 on Leg Augment
*The failure returned the scale and the water! (I love Salvage 3!)
** One of the failures returned all three risteel sheets! (I love Salvage 3!)
Edit: After making the legs this morning, I decided to dump all my remaining funds I was going to use for sickle skillups prior to the nerf into buying drake scales. I made the BP, failed the first aug attempt, but salvage 3 saved the day (I even included the screenshot this time). I made the BP aug on the second attempt.

my experience ist totally different - allways the crap is salvaged not the worthy components.
I failed making a symbol and got my drake scale back
I think that the chance of salvage returning a valuable item is exactly the same as it returning junk. It is just that in many combines use more junk items than valuables.
