Well, as some suggested would happen earlier, the rewards are now starting to look weak compared to dropped ears... while the elemental planar ears were on par, or better in some regards..... the folks hitting the early bosses in time have found a bit better, for melee at least...

Extra effect: Combat Effects +5 (most likely 5 point boost to DD procs)
Keep in mind, that anyone in a solid enough guild to complete their final ear will be in Time within a couple months if they don't quit...and the fact that guilds other than those that operate on a strict DKP/raidpoints/similar system will likely be unwilling to give ear upgrades to folks that they helped with ear quest so recently...
Think about it objectively, rationally, and its pretty obvious that once again what originally looks like a solid, top of the line reward for an extremely rough, exclusive quest for the most dedicated of players, turns out to be rather disappointing when compared to what folks that simply kill a single mob can get without the incredible hassle of questing...
From a personal perspective, I see the first as very much worth wearing over the Signet of Might, and the second as blowing away the Marked Runed Signet on my second ear....and, while it won't be more than a month before I'll possibly have a chance to set foot in time (depending on server competition of course), I'll most likely be wearing both of my ears til EQ ends, or at least a couple of expansions down the line, both as a symbol of pride, and a show of respect to my friends and family that made it possible for me to complete the quest.... and yet, it's depressing that 3 years of working up tradeskills, plus the massive effort required to gather components for this quest, yields something that pales beside items that I'll see drop for my guild by early July at the latest..... this quest really needs to continue with at least 1 more step in Time, otherwise it becomes nothing more than an intensified version of the Tradeskill Trophies - yes, they are useful to some extent, but in all actuality, its nothing more than a T Shirt that says 'I mastered every tradeskill and the Elemental Planes, and all I got was this crappy T-shirt' that gets worn due to a love of the tradeswork and not because its the best shirt you can wear.
Its pretty obvious what they need to do now. Add in one last step of the quest, using any tradeskill we've already done, or none such as hope stone, and require stuff from the Plane of Time, to make yet another final earring. ANYONE who has completed this earring is at most 3 months from time, and as such this earring will be likely unequipped by a few in the coming months. This quest should NOT have a reward that will be unequipped, short of the next two expantions. This is THE epic quest for PoP. Not just 'an' epic quest. K, done talking.
Umm I know I am in the minority, but I know I exist, so I'll just mention that I have the last earring and I won't be seeing Time anytime soon.
That's not to say I don't think there shouldn't be another step though... just wanted to point out that not everyone who has this earring is super-uber-i-kill-tier4-gods-for-lunch powerful.
I've basically given up hope of seeing the final rewards get upgraded. If it was going to be done they've had time to do it by now. I stand amazed at how out of touch with the game whoever designed this quest and its rewards was.
Upon completion of the quest the Signet of Might is awarded to -
Warriors Monks rogues and BARDS alone.
The Signet of the Arcane goes to Priests, pure casters, paladins,
Shadownights (ME), rangers and beastlords.
Forget that neither of these earrings are as good as they should be, or have any sort of tradeskill related effect . .. how on earth can you justify giving BARDS the Signet of Might, and not Shadowknights and the rest of the hybrids. Bards get an earring with 15 more hit points, a hefty skill mod, and Aura of Bravery, an awesome effect for melee classes.
The ultimate irony here is that most bards would prefer the Signet of the Arcane for its FT. As this quest stands only the pure melee classes are even close to adequately rewarded. For a quest so grand in scale, so difficult to complete, its just unforgiveable that no time at all was put into consideration for the rewards, and that after a month nothing has been changed.
I find it quite disinheartening that SoE has not responded to the rather scewed effort vs. reward for the final earring. Numerous suggestions have been made how to fix the earrings and it looks like we are just going to be ignored. For the caster earring, the FT should be changed to something similar to Aura of Eternity (worn effect of 5 regen/5 FT from an amulet in PoTime), but instead make it 3/3 to keep it in line with the current FT on caster earring and the hp regen on the melee version (aura of bravery). As for the focus effect, the only people who are happy with it generally are those not yet in the elemental planes or guildless in elemental planes ;p. Why repeat Preserv of Xegony so many times over (priest/caster elemental armor and god BPs) when there are numerous other focus effects that are MUCH rarer like timeburn, anger of solusek, eternistrum, or druzil distance?
You can MQ the brewing step(step 2) but unless you have 220 brewing AND smithing it'll fail. At any portion of this quest if you tried to MQ it(somehow) it would fail if BOTH people in the quest don't have 220 skill in all skills up to that point in the quest, basically it's not worth the effort to MQ any of the quest even if it was MQable. Either have to put in the time for the earring or go without, there's no way to cheat in this one.
Well, after 16 attempts at the tailoring part of the quest, I finally have both my earrings. While the quest only requires 220, I highly recommend getting at least 239 + geerlok before doing this step.
Got quick question. I was reviewing the flags needed for this and noticed the flag for the 4th step of the quest (pottery) is called "Pack of Notes from Vallon Zek".
Is there more to than just killing Vallon Zek for the proper flag? I've killed him but not sure if there's more I need to do.
