  • That would be a totally idiotic change if they force you to have 250 in all skills. Past 240 skill, you get no benefit from raising your skills, and I refuse to do so. Also, the reward is no where near good enough to require that as the focus/ft on earring is unimpressive for elemental planes (most people who get earring already have elemental pattern armor or will be soon getting them) and the stats are worse than far easier to get earrings there. Plus, what about the people who have already finished the quest?

I'm the highest tradeskiller on test at 1705. Well legit tradeskiller that is elemental flagged atleast.

      Edit: Added log file.

A little confused here. Is it possible he's saying that because you don't have one in your inventory?

Edit: One Marked Runed Signet that is.

      • It could be you need the marked rune signet to get the next part. If you remember you need to have the aid eno quest item to get councilwoman kerasha to speak about the 4 essences from the gods otherwise she gives you a similar line. I want to get 250 in all tradeskills but I was hoping to take my time on smithing once i get tailoring and the quest done.

        • A friend of mine had tailoring at 226, and the councilman would not talk to her, lack of skills. All other skills were at the 240 level. After getting 4 pts and tailoring to 230, the councilman let her turn in the hopestone and marked signet. It may simply require 230 for tailoring, or 230 for all skills. But 230 was the magic number for tailoring.

I highly doubt it, I have been checking back with him all week since the changes in the quest. He had never turned me away until yesterday.

Lyandras, My lowest skill is pottery at 230+.

Only thing we know for sure is that there are some newer skill requirements in, not even sure if what I found is live.

            • Having had the problem I mentioned earlier with low smithing, I've raised my smithing to 214. Counciller Taldarius still says 'You should not have that item at your skill level'. Someone earlier on the thread said they'd got the final Signet with skills that had been boosted by Geerloks before the changes, could anyone confirm what skill levels they managed to get the correct text and the final item at ?

              • Think patch before last they fixed that problem making you need unmodified 220 in each skill.

                • I just finished tonight and some of my skills are 225-227. . sadly, I got the Signet of the Arcane instead of the Signet of Might. As a shadowknight it was a big time let down, for all the reasons ive posted in my whines earlier in the thread. I really hope they upgrade both earrings, or at the VERY least give an option for people to do a trade-in to get the other earring. Pthffft!

I am certain this is the message you get when you do not have a marked runed signet in your inventory.

After I already had a Signet of the Arcane, I said this phrase to him and got the exact same message (on Live). (My skills are all 250, but I no longer had a marked runed signet). I did the quest again up to marked runed signet (so one was in inventory), and I got the correct phrase again. This is a simple check of your inventory.

Thanks. I thought this may have been the case. Will wait and see if that was the same case on Test.

                      • Finished the quest last night, recieved signet of arcane for a ranger. Skills were maxed except for 220 pottery, 220 brewing, 228 baking. Now back for 3 more sacred water to start a second earring.

                        • The only reason I can see that they would not allow you to choose which earing you recieve is so that people won't do the quest 2 times in order to recieve both.
So, what would be so wrong with that? It sounds like several people are already planning to get final earring as well as the one before it. That final step a second time would be nice.

                          • For caster/hybrids, yes, it would be nice to have both final ears.... but for pure melees.... the stats are useless, so it would basically be gaining...what, 15 hp and 3 save all, in exchange for losing 5 hp/tick regen..not worth it....and thus, not really balanced, since 3 classes would not have any benefit from the effects on final ear, while all the others would....so, I don't really see them making it possible to have both the final rewards.... now, if they made them non lore and able to trade them in for other... would be worth it for pure melees...and hybrids... but then it would only be marginal for pure casters, since the ATK would be wasted, and the dodgemod even more negigible than it is for melees, and doubling the focus effect would be useless...and the FT.... well..in all honesty, I would be suprised if even 10% of the non-alt characters with all the flags to finish this quest aren't at FT cap already, so having 2 ears wth FT3 would be equally redundant... I don't really see any way that they could allow quest to be done twice to final completion without changing the final rewards, it just wouldn't balance out for everyone...not that its necessarily balanced now, but I dont see a solution that wouldn't cause an uproar from some group....

                            • I'm no computer wiz or anything, but honestly, given all the things you can do in this game, how hard would it really be to program it so that you can do a trade in to get the version you want, and if you have one earring, youre not given the quest to get another. Have the quest giver do a check to see if you have one earring or something?

It would probably be about as hard as taking 5 minutes to consider how beneficial these quest rewards are to the people who will be doing the quest . . in other words, too **** hard for them to manage.

On another note, here's an idea for an upgrade. How about giving the earring an effect that makes you fail less on all tradeskill combines, like 5-10 percent less failures, nice enough to be meaningful, not too much so as to be unbalancing. If they can do it for the enchanter JC skill, they can put it on an effect or something im sure.

There already is a turn in system like that for the Talisman/Bracer/Robe of Benevolence quest. Everyone gets the same reward initially and you turn it in until you get the appropriate item for your class.
