  • So melees go from 5hp regen on Marked Runed to 3hp regen/30 attack on Signet of Might? /shrug whatever. I think we're all agreed that the effects on these earrings are screwed up. The arcane earring should have aura of eternity and a different focus or better MP focus maybe. Melees should have gotten something better as well imo.

    • Is the result just based on what class you are? Or is there a way to cycle the earrings. Hybrid classes aren't so cut and dry as to what earring they would want.

      • I would so much rather have the melee earring if I had to choose just one earring and I am a ranger. Is signet of might all/all or is it war/rog/monk only? I am really disappointed if I cant get signet of might that one is so much better for a ranger than ft3/preservation of xegony

          • Earring of Might is nice, the effect could use some twinking and anyone that knows anything about skill mods knows 8% dodge does NOTHING. Its like 1 extra dodge per 1000 chances. Big deal!

The stats/hp are nice, exactly what I had stated. The Aura Effect is nice, could have been a Higher Aura of XYZ but I'd settle for Bravery.

Try changing the dodge mod to something like an innate 7 pt ds/2 pt regen. This would maintain the 5 pt regen from the previous earring atleast and make the DS useful in some situations like Talisman of Vah Kerath.

            • Am I the only one who's curious why so many people wearing earrings of the solstice falling over themselves to stress how bad the Signet of the Arcane is? How many other 25/25/15/130/150 earrings are falling into people's laps without requiring any expenditure of raid points or whatever other consideration their guilds require for loot?

The earring has excellent stats even before you consider the focus and effect. I don't call my secrets of the planes a hunk of garbage just because I don't think conservation of solusek is important to me.

I may feel differently if the completion of this quest reset all your tradeskills to zero, but it doesn't. This quest is icing on the cake for tradeskillers, and it's tradeskillers for whom this quest was made.

Imagine someone who played a $20 million lottery every day for 20 years, and when the finally won, they bought a BMW for $60,000, and then after driving it decided that the ride wasn't really all that great after all, so winning the lottery was just a big waste of time. We'd smack that person in the head 19,940,000 times.

I say once more: If you 1750 your tradeskills and get elemental flagged for the sole purpose of getting this earring, you should consider how much you're squandering. Arguments based on the idea that this quest is the sole reward for GMing seven tradeskills and getting elemental flagged are silly.

I don't fault people for wishing the earring was better than it is, but I also wish my sword was 60/30 instead of 45/30, and that my helmet had 200ac, and that there was 500hp on my rings. There has to be a line somewhere.

IMO, a compromise would be to make a third earring for casters and priests with conservation of xegony, leave the signet as it is for hybrids, and leave the signet of might as it is for melees. But I still reject the assertion that this earring is a piece of krap because the focus is also on elemental pure caster and priests armor. But, I do have my own biases as well: I'm a paladin, and therefore I care dearly about my mana (I understand rangers care less about this), and in my current situation, I'd vastly prefer FT3 over Aura of Bravery. FT is tricky business for hybrids (especially those without ToVKs) in PoP.

                • I think the point everyone is trying to make is that HP/Mana are still king of the stats and that the effects (both earrings) are basically dupes for everyone BUT Paladins, Shadow Knights, Beastlords and Bards. So out of 15 classes only FOUR classes get a new effect that they can't find on their current Elemental armor.

I don't think this earring has "fallen" into my lap. Everyone that is able to complete this quest has worked hard not only to get the needed flags but also the required skill levels. Saying that this quest is "easy" I find somewhat insulting and cheapens the entire quest experience.

Everyone that is able to finish this quest is in a guild that has reached the upper levels of the game. This also means that EVERYONE in that guild also has the chance to get an earring that has equal to or greater hit points and mana WITHOUT ever lifting so much as a dairy spoon. I think that extra effort should be worth something more in terms of hp/mana and effect.

We're talking about different things, that's all. My point is that the flags have benefits beyond allowing you to complete this quest (no matter how good this earring is, it would not be as good as the sum of the twelve other pieces of elemental gear I wear), and the skill levels have benefits beyond allowing you to complete this quest. The parts of the quest that give you no benefit beyond the quest reward itself (cleaning the BP, making the twice brewed KC's, making the ring, filling the urn, making the robe, making the bow, making the party platters, and getting the hope stone) are not hard.

There's no Seru's head component or anything like that where you have to lean on the cooperation of 50 other people to kill a seven day spawn who drops one thing that they all need as much as you do.

I just can't shake the feeling that if the earring had no focus effect _at all_, there would be fewer complaints about it than there are now.

                    • You summed up my feelings exactly Forty. I am a cleric. Getting to 250 in all trades is not easy. If it was, everyone would do it. This quest requires SO much time and effort. I could easily get POA earing which is like idenical hps/mana and has resist. And thats just for one example. Without ever having to farm countless hours and massive combines and begging people to imbue and well most of you know what im saying. Now with earing im like FT 35 which is worhtless to me. I normally see a FT on pop item ill avoid it. I have Aten mask which is a greater mana preserve than on earing. So both focus effect are worthless to me. Id rather have regen on it and im a cleric! Anything BUT FT!!! And we get same effect on elemental boots i believe which is why i havent gotten them. Repeating Focus effects that are on items most ppl have is redundent. Id liked to of seen something new and special on such a hard item to obtain. I personally used 1 combine of air bow, 7 combines of fire robe. That could of been made into normal items and sold for lots of plat. So again, time doing tradeskills, AA 3 per each one past 200, the farming of items FOR each step, money you could of made on said item. Yes its ALOT for this earing. I am wearing earing and will prob continue to do so far awhile but for the time and effort involved its not where it should be. Not gonna cry over it but it should be better. Very glad its over with though.

What id liked to of seen perosnally
25 ac and all stats INCLUDING cha! *dwarfs are low cha*
                      25 to all resist
                      150 hps 150 mana
CLICK BUFF: 5 hps / 5 mana regen and 30 atk..

I think that would be better and would of made every class happy and **** well worth the time, money , effort. And i cant see anyone at all complaing about those final stats.

                      • When the Sigil Earring was completed, people regarded it as dream gear. It wasn't the only reward for killing Lord Seru.

The Signet isn't crap, but while very nice it falls short of being a similar reward at this stage of the game. Since there's no timed-spawn bottleneck, I can understand why Sony wouldn't want to make this a genuinely uber item. But it does need a tweak to the effects.

                        • Has any hybrid finished this yet? I lack the hopestone. I'm going to cry if we get that PoS Signet of the Arcane, ft3 does nothing for me, preservation of xegony does nothing for me, or any other hybrid who has elemental boots, or has done MUCH easier secret of the planes manual quest. I'm guessing since they put no mana on the signet of might that it is for pure melee only.

From a pure melee perspective...while that effect *could* be better....and having dodge mod on it is kinda bleh since I'm already using SotPlanes in range..thats an ear I'd use for a while.....with FA being so much better than reg avatar, it would take full Raex w/Aten bp to close in on 250 ATK without avatar proc (haven't done exact math), so it'll be awhile before effect becomes useless... just wish the saves scaled up more, since, at this stage in the game, those 25 stat boosts just look purty, and dont really do crap for 85% of the folks that are in guilds solid enough to get fully elemental flagged (barring the 200-300 zerg forces some servers send to Rallos ).

                              • I did up to the baking part while Gimmel accepted modified skill amounts, so a number of my skilled are in the 210-220 range, and I multi-quested the smithing part (much hate for smithing) though my smithing is 194, so if I had a 15% hammer I would have been able to get the quest at the time, when I talk to the counciller he says 'You don't have the skills to have this'. I guess this is something to stop people who got the earring off the goblin from acquiring the final earring. Has anyone else had this message ? Have people got the correct message with 210 in skills, or will I need to get them all up to 220 before the final hand-in ?
