I have ft 36 atm and no need for the focus on this earring......If it wasnt for this quest i wouldn't have bothered upping my skill...I'm not uncommon among casters that have access to flags/items as far as stats go. As far as melee's doing this quest? why bother....so i did all this work and because there is no FINALE in POTime.....i'll more then likely replace it. The earring is nice, but in the time spent to actually do tradeskills, and the zones required it's marginal....I would suggest improving upon this quest by adding in other versions and/or having a Ultimate upgrade quest in time.

"25ac 25stat 15save 130/150 FT3/Pres of Xegony earring is MORE than enough reward for the effort"
I disagree, from a pure melee stand point.
Even if you dont need the pres or ft3, it gives you more viability to change other equipment with those items down the robe.
With the time it takes to GM all 7 skills, this reward should be just short of a God Drop quality. For a pure melee this item is < atleast 3 earrings that drop in the Elemental PLanes tthat DONT drop off of gods.
It makes NO sense to change the effect from a somewhat middle of the road effect (regen) to something utterly useless for a pure melee. Atleast an aura of XYZ would maintain the middle road regen, and satisfy the melee, while keeping pres or ft3 for the casters.
If there IS a melee only earring, i'll retract all of this of course

My current favorite effect would be this:
5 regen
3 mana regen
20 attack
This makes the effect better than those aura of daring earrings floating around for melee types, and preserves the mana regen. (If possible, I would even go to 5 mana regen, but would not want to ask for too much).
Similarly, I would like to see the focus readdressed. Perhaps as a combo focus, something like:
Perservation of Xegony +
Patience of Eternity +
Anger of Solusek
That would give something for just about every class.

Nice stats on 8th, yea... but the sudden obvious bias towards casters is strange. I was hoping that at some point it would gain some FT (and, to a lesser degree, veng) to balance it out but not at the cost of the regen. I could do the turn in right now, but as a rogue I really question whether it's worthwhile if I'm going to get a caster-based earring. As long as I'm alive I'ma live illegal.

Ok, I just got the Signet myself, and, in reply to Khoren, I did actually skill up just to get this. JC and Baking were at 250 when I started, but the rest were all in the 160-180 range where I'd left them after doing the 8th shawl. Took me about 6 weeks of fairly solid skilling up from the time I decided to start on it. I'm still far from a GM in most skills: did the smithing part at 218 and the pottery bit at 214 when you could do them with a mod (increased both to 220 after the last patch just to make sure I didn't mess up the later handins). Just got 220 tailoring tonight and was VERY lucky in making the robe on the first try (had enough curing agent for 3). Made the air bow on the 2nd attempt (components for this are really pretty common, the main problem was finding clockwork grease).
Now, with 220 tailoring, 221 smithing and 220 fletching, I'm not going to be wasting rare elemental components, my guild has people who are GMs in those skills. I might work to get the final 20 points needed to max with a %mod, but that's still a way off. So basically this earring is the reward for all those weeks of effort, with the proviso that it will be easier for me to get GM status and do the high-end stuff in the future.
Was it worth it? Well I have to agree with the other posters. The stats are nice, but the effect is inappropriate - this is the third Preservation of Xegony item I have now... If you're in a guild which has elemental access but seldom kills the names and just exps there, this would be appropriate but that sounds like a very strange thing to design for. A small upgrade to Conservation of Xegony is in order I think (considering that 18% mana preservation drops in VT, after all).

I enjoy tradeskills anyways and probably would've 250ed Smithing without the quest but the quest made me 250 all my tradeskills, I wouldn't have touched tailoring or fletching if not for this quest because my character has absolutely no reason for doing them. a Dwarven Tailor or Fletcher just doesn't fit the character right, but due to this quest I went ahead and dumped about 200k to 250 both of those skills in addition to the other 5 I probably would've had it not been for the quest.

I just remembered... check Lucy when the info comes in.
16250 - Clay Signet
16251 - Wooden Signet
16252 - Metal Signet
16253 - Rusty Marked Signet
16254 - Runed Signet
16255 - no id (Marked Runed?)
16256 - no id (... melee earring?!)
16257 - Signet of the Arcane
16258 - Hope Stone
32800 - Marked Signet (thanks bug)
So... the Marked Runed jumps one to go to Signet of Arcane... now, what's in between? :twisted:As long as I'm alive I'ma live illegal.

The stats on the earring are what I hoped for and very pleased with it. However, the effects really need to be changed. Preservation of Xegony is sooo common for those in ele planes that it is just the wrong thing to put on the earring. Put a focus that isnt on elemental pattern armor for priests or int casters like Druzzil Distance or a focus that extends all spells like focus of mediocrity from VT - which excludes charm of course, and dont limit it to dots only. Also, for the effect, some FT is nice as alot of people are replacing older armor that had FT and ele bracers only add up to 8. However, some regen needs to be added to go along with the prior earrings, especially for melee types which these changes screw over - how about making a custom effect thats just FT and regen? Or if thats not possible, a toned down version of Maelin's Methodical mind (5 hp regen and 8 mana regen) - could make it 3 hp regen and 4 mana regen?Stormwarden of Xegony

Fletching 241, Baking 240 (+spoon), JC 242, Tailoring 240, Brewing 241, Pottery 235, Smithing 227.
