It's interesting, for me at least, to see that the most troublesome part of the quest is the tailoring step. I succeeded on all steps first time round, including tailoring, and that was my worst skill, at 240 modified (everythign else was 252/250 whichever the cap is, raw or modified). I wasn't sure whether or not I should do the tailoring combine, saps are annoyingly rare when you are actively seeking them :b So I was very relieved when the robe appeared on my cursor. This also gave me a sort of feeling that perhaps the trivials weren't so high above 250, or the success rate was a little better, considering the time and effort put into getting the components. This 'feeling' was also reinforced by me succeeding two farwater chain legs, and one fire plate legs. 3/3 in such items is very good imo. Reading about some of the unfortunate multiple failures suffered by some people here, makes me aprpeciate much more how random the RNG really is, and how good my luck has been throughout this quest. I am now at peace with all those many many MANY huge smithing runs with no skill ups. I guess it all balances out in the end
