  • It's interesting, for me at least, to see that the most troublesome part of the quest is the tailoring step. I succeeded on all steps first time round, including tailoring, and that was my worst skill, at 240 modified (everythign else was 252/250 whichever the cap is, raw or modified). I wasn't sure whether or not I should do the tailoring combine, saps are annoyingly rare when you are actively seeking them :b So I was very relieved when the robe appeared on my cursor. This also gave me a sort of feeling that perhaps the trivials weren't so high above 250, or the success rate was a little better, considering the time and effort put into getting the components. This 'feeling' was also reinforced by me succeeding two farwater chain legs, and one fire plate legs. 3/3 in such items is very good imo. Reading about some of the unfortunate multiple failures suffered by some people here, makes me aprpeciate much more how random the RNG really is, and how good my luck has been throughout this quest. I am now at peace with all those many many MANY huge smithing runs with no skill ups. I guess it all balances out in the end

    • The tailoring part is terrible. 2 of my guildmates each failed SIX fire tunics before finally succeeding. One of them might have made 1 or 2 attempts at sub 250, but the vast majority were done with 250+5%. I was very lucky and only failed 2 with 250+5%.

The fletching part can be a pain. Its nearly impossible for a single group to get the needed parts, but any raiding guild should get a good quantity if they spend any time there. The bow seems relativly easy to succeed. In my guild, all 3 that have tried succeeded on the first try (not counting my blunder of putting all but the signet in the fletching kit and combining... which does combine into an air bow... which I failed).

And I might as well throw in my complaint about the baking step. Seems about as finished as PoTime... a figment of some programmers imagination. I wish they would stop jerking everyone around and just finish the quest. If this becomes another 7th shawl I'm gonna be one very unhappy enchanter.

That's the problem... and he's not helping us out in any way whatsoever. Pleas have been made... and they are falling on deaf (or uncaring) ears. But the 7th step of this quest is merely a small annoyance compared to the debacle that the rest of PoP has been. If you ask me, this is just par for the course.

          • Palm Leaf?

Getting back to the Palm Leaf, which I think is pivitol in us actually getting somewhere with this, what choices do we have for how we obtain this?

            Forage
            Ground Spawn
            Fished (far-fetched, but still possible)
            Drop
            Quest Reward
            Crafted

At this point we can pretty much rule out straight drop, if it was a drop we should have seen it by now. Ditto for foraged, fished or ground spawn. Which leaves us with three possibilities.

            Quest Reward
            Crafted
            Not-In-Game

            Any ideas?

Notice the desert area with the pyramids. Palm trees grow in the desert. I know it's supposed to all be in water/elementals, but elemental BPs should be in elementals and they ain't droppin either. Barring all other possibilities - it could be in Time.

              • update.

Some people were saying that % bonus modifiers to tradeskills allowed you to do the quest now

As of yesterday evening they did NOT for the smithing portion

I have 218 base smithing. Just got my bertrox flag. Tried with both my ironfrost (15% giving me 250 equivlant) and my GM smiths hammer (well i dont want to do the math but its over 220). And he told me he would not trust someone with my skill

Might I just ask how did you do that? Are you a game maker and have the software to build a zone without the game going? Not like it's any great advantage but even that pic is amazing. PM me if you can make more zones, always wanted to see VT.

Palm leaf is for the Karana Salad, just wondering why some think it has anything to do with the Party Platter? /shrug

Once someone does finally get into time we still don't know what to look for. Not like you will be able to forage a "party platter" or anything.

For all we know it was suppose to be read as Bristlebane's Party Platter and we have to either talk or kill Bristlebane in PoM. Although we have been told that there was no in game recipe for this.

                      • I don't think the salad belongs to the platter either. Even given the way the items are ordered in that emulator database it doesnt neccessarily follow that the salad is a component of the platter. It's just as possible that the platter is made up of unlisted items that precede the platter in the database, which seems to be the case for some of the other combinations you can see there. For example ..

                        29758,Tormentor Stiry Fry,Tormentor Stiry Fry
                        29759,Bloody Tormentor Parts,Bloody Tormentor Parts
                        29760,Wok,Wok
29761,Clockwork Carapace,A good surface for stir fry

                        29762,Hero Sandwhich,Hero Sandwhich
                        29763,Hero Meat,Hero Meat
                        29764,Spiced Hero Meat,Spiced Hero Meat
                        29765,Smoked Hero Meat,Smoked Hero Meat
                        29766,Dressing,A mild oil and vinegrette

You dont see fish oil or vegetables listed right under the tormentor stir fry, because these items are older components somewhere else in the database. So to me it seems more likely the platter is just made up of some of the other previously made pop food items (like triloun tail soup, mephit meat pie, etc), but in some unknown combination or with other older components.

Also, just because the recipe for the platter itself isnt given out via another quest or npc, doesnt mean some of its components are'nt, like say what to do for crabmeat or krakken meat. Has anyone ever gotten any information at all out of the PoTranq kitchen staff?

Anyway at this point, I've tried every reasonable concieveable combination (based on older recipes) using crab meat, and krakken meat, including the more obscure stuff like patte's and beer braised whatever. . but come up with nothing, and I'm about ready to give up.

                        • its gonna be a while before anyone solves this last part of this earring quest i think anyways.

what i think is this we need to get into timeA do a different quest to get a recipie or a tip that helps make the party platter. (kinda like the aid gnome that after you turn in the items you get the recipie for crab cracker).

we havent as of yet done the councel druid quest yet we need the 4 essences of the elemental planes ( those rare drops from rathe corinav xenogy fennin ro ) not the the ones you get from hailing the flags those i think are for the odyilic jar. - specualtion atm -

it could be possible that this druid gives the salad recipie. we just dont know yet.

im waiting like you to get hints or stumble on to something or brainstorm a great idea.

have we done anything with frog legs from the frogs in water? those are rare too. ive tryed a few things but im woring on tinkering on another character heh -neeeed caamms-

Granted im not in the one and only guild coalition that is in the elemental planes yet, and i think only a small handful (maybe 2?) people there are actively working on the Aid Grimel quest.

So I personally am not much help. :/ But i do think that the palm leaf is the next major hurdle.

                              • Eldrich, the essences are we documented as being combined in the jay to create the 'Quintessense of the Elements'. The only 'unknown' part is what exactly that is, but it's definitly an item in increadible power, rather than a snack.
