Is it possible that this recipe uses Pure Enchanted Velium Bars from the Aid Grimel quest? Would be odd but not unheard of. Stuck at work so can't check....

The text states:

As for the Enchanted Velium bits, The only known way to enchant any velium is the enchanter spell. That will provide a enchanted bar of velium, which isnt quite bits...

It could be that the soul anchor itself is what enchants the bits, thus these would be other possibilities:

Soul Anchor + Velium bits = Enchanted Velium bits + Mold + File = Hinges
Soul Anchor + Velium bits + File = Enchanted Velium bits + Mold + File = Hinges
Soul Anchor + Velium bits + File = Enchanted Velium bits + Mold= Hinges

Perhaps.... just maybe perhaps.... Velium Bits is a tad more descriptive... Maybe multiple Velium Bits are required....

Did ya fail before succeeding ? If so was the sketch returned?


Oh and yet another thought on the enchanted velium bits... perhaps since velium bits are made, perhaps the enchanting of them is part of that process.... Instead of combining the already made bits with the vials of mana, perhaps adding the mana vial into the recipe for making the bits themselves would work

It seems to me that the way this is phrased implies that the velium bits must be enchanted BEFORE combining with the soul anchor.

Maybe you need to use a Small Chunk of Velium, if it's tradeskill-tagged? Ignoring the fact that "bits" of various sorts already exist in-game, bits and chunks are pretty close descriptively.

I have been following this thread for a few days now. Interesting quest indeed. As for the velium smithing part, has anyone tried turning an enchanted bar of velium into bits? Get an enchanter to enchant a bar of velium and then break that bar into bits. Or maybe even see if its possible to take velium bits and have them enchanted by an enchanter using the Enchant Velium spell.

Not sure if either would work but its worth a try at this point.

Hmm ... that could be a good thing to try. For the Phenocryst's Focus quest, the npc says "Bring me a chunk o' Velium Ore along with his axe and I'll get to work." but he actually wants a "small piece of velium", so there definitely is precident.
