This item has no charges. QED, it is an item of type 2.

Try turning the tunic in to cycle to your robe and breastplate.
Well, Fungus Covered Scale Tunic has no augment slots, and it is a mob drop. So I think your reasoning here may be flawed.

    • it does not cycle back when you get the tunic instead of the robe. i also got only the tunic. the gm gave my my quest items back and said it was not working right and to put in a bug form. he said not to try again until i saw in the patch that it was fixed.

      • Another notable item that doesn't have a slot and doesn't fit either category is the talisman of val'kerath. It is the result of a quest but it isn't recyclable since it's the only reward and doesn't have any click to recharge either. I think there are probably still a few bugs with these items (ft as focus effects) etc that will likely be fixed in a future patch possibly along with bugs with the turn in. They may end up adding slots but they may not and it wouldn't be the first item with out slots on it.

Can't imagine trashing a Velious BP - what effect did the caster ones have on them that wasn't worth saving?

However melee's, Get to TS for their item? Did they fire the guy with the brains that figured out melee suck at TS thus why the dorf ring has very little TS in it?
Hey, my troll SK has better tradeskill stats and total points then my chanter mule who was mainly built for tradeskills.

Still though, we haven't had a melee confirm for certain yet that they don't get some form of BP upgrade - it's possible that it might just be yet another case of Sony wording something poorly.

From what I can tell all the TS elements are no drop making this nothing like the potc quest.
Well, for the moment, I'm holding my breath and hoping that they were telling the truth when they said that this was going to be on par with PoTC - they did indicate that once the first people solved the quest then the rules were going to change - maybe the changes are currently bugged or maybe they need to still be patched?

So if this is in fact a method of trying to force melee to Tradeskill sony has once again proved it's infinite stupidity.
LOL - well, they did promise that this would be like PoTC - PoTC did get a boat load of folks into tradeskills...

The advantage to the potc quest was you could farm stuff and have someone else make it (IE my cleric) or buy it and then turn it in yourself for the reward.
Well, until someone solves the quest and then goes back and checks to see if anything has changed, we can't flame Sony (yet) - so keep the flint and tinders dry and we'll see what we see.

In the area of getting faction with this guy - I can't recall the name or location of the NPC and it's not listed anywhere that I could find, but I could swear that there was a quest out there somewhere that was supposed to be the opposite of the Oracle's quest - were if you killed the guy who gave it, it would give you positive hits with the oracle?

That failing, perhaps using the different turn in tricks to gain faction with him by doing the burning torch quest would be a good idea?

No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Can this quest be soloed? I see that many mobs are lvl 50's so I tend to think it can but i just want to make sure.

            • With bazaar farming you can do the great tunic of the oracle solo. If you plan to loot all the books by yourself, get a raid started.....

                • One guy on Veeshan is trying to sell a couple of the books for this quest for 20K each. Ironically, they're two of the easier ones to get.

I'm not sure, but I think he had one of those two books priced at 100K yesterday. I about fell out of my chair laughing when I saw that.

Folks, even the filthy rich are not going to spend 100K per book just to do this quest.

                  • Phylactery

Correct me if I am wrong but the phylactery being a pure melee/hybrid reward is speculation.

I agree that it seems strange that pure casters can just turn in 6 books + thurg/ss/kael robe to get their reward while pure melee/hybrid would have to go through the tradeskills road.

As far as the story goes...only Miragul, a scholar of the 4 pure caster arts, has constructed a phylactery. He supposedly even made an error in the process...Frankly, I can't imagine Conan the barbarian attempting to make his own.

Unless I am mistaken, my bet is that the phylactery is the main reward...the oracle robe being a bonus. Or, the phylactery is turned in in exchange of the oracle robe (which would justify the tradeskill part vs thurg/ss/kael robe turnin).

The Oracle is used in the Paladin epic. You turn in the Book of Scale to him and recieve the phylactery of Miragul. This is occasionally a problem step for paladins who have killed the Oracle and/or his guardian, and its a not-too-uncommon complaint that there is no way to repair the damage to the Oracle's faction (thankfully the Book of Scale is droppable so the step can be worked around by having a friend do the Oracle & Miragul turnins).

If there's a way to repair Oracle faction, the paladins definitely haven't found it. Thus I'm a bit doubtful one exists :/

                      • Repairing Oracle faction is easy, if time-consuming. All it takes is three little words:

                        Book of Turmoil.

Of course, this will only work if you're not yet KoS, or if you can somehow pacify him so he doesn't attack before you can turn in the book (much like people do with Pandos in WFP).

I did this a long time ago. It took me about 80 books of turmoil to go from apprehensive to amiable. And since most people don't have to worry about TLC on their servers, getting the book can be done at any time.

The objection still stands. Your average paladin should not be puttering around in Neriak, offing random bartenders wily-nily.

So while an option may technically exist, it's hardly a practical one for your average paladin.

Furthermore, if you can manage to turn in the Book of Turmoil despite being KOS, it follows logically that you could just use the same steps (the invis trick, I assume?) to turn in the books for the Grand Robe/Tunic quest.
