My problem with this... I spent 50k on the Plainswalker a few days ago thinking i was getting the best bang for my buck. now this isn't the case. yes, the bow is still worth the 50k imho, BUT i could have saved that plat to go towards THE BEST TRADABLE BOW IN GAME. now i can't upgrade to the Druzzil because i'm broke. my logic behind this was, if the bow is changed in any way it would still be the BEST tradable bow, not being swapped with its former underling. had that been known, i would have purchased the Composite instead of the Plainswalker. thanks for the jerk.

This is the dumbest change I have seen. WE HAVE BEEN HUGELY HOSED...... I am furious.

Ngreth, what the heck are you thinking!

        OMG it's freaking attunable now.

Ngreth, may the wrath of Tunare come down on you for this change.

Sorry, I'm at work and haven't been able to check this or I would just check myself. Is the bow automatically unattuned now since the change even if you had equipped it before? I'm hoping so but just wanted to check. My only hope now is to sell the bow to get back some of the plat I spent and use that towards buying the new, better bow. That's really terrible though because I could've bought what is now the better of the two bows for less than the bow I bought.

Please tell me a mistake was made here.

Seems like everyone beat me to this. I just confirmed from bows I made last night, the superior bow for rangers, was downgraded, while the generic bow which required less combines to make was upgraded by far.

Did someone get these coversions reversed in the patch? Makes me wish I hadn't done the additional combine steps last night for our rangers.

Actually, I tried that. I had some calming fluid leftover from lastnight, and I got a DNC.

HEY! Calm down, people! When has Ngreth intentionally done something problematic or not listened to feedback? It is entirely possible to firmly protest while remaining polite and friendly. I don't want to close this, but will if I have to.

I will calm down when he posts an apology Sorry, Verdani, I'll edit this when I paste it in from what I posted at EQLive:

If you had this bow before patch:

                    Plainswalker's Treant Laminated Bow
                    MAGIC ITEM
                    Slot: RANGE
                    Skill: Archery Atk Delay: 37
                    DMG: 44 AC: 20
                    STR: +20 DEX: +5 STA: +15 WIS: +15
                    INT: +20 HP: +145 MANA: +145 ENDUR: +145
SV FIRE: +25 SV DISEASE: +25 SV MAGIC: +25 SV POISON: +25
                    Attack: +10
                    Regeneration: +2
                    Mana regeneration: +2
                    Recommended level of 70.
                    Required level of 63.
WT: 3.0 Range: 220 Size: LARGE
                    Class: RNG
                    Race: ALL

This required an extra step, one that could destroy the bow you already had that was pretty good. After patch you now have this bow, a slightly improved version of the bow you made Plainswalker from, but a big step down from Plainswalker:

                    Composite Treant Laminated Compound Bow
                    MAGIC ITEM ATTUNEABLE
                    Slot: RANGE
                    Skill: Archery Atk Delay: 37
                    DMG: 44 AC: 25
                    Skill Mod: Archery +5%
                    STR: +15 DEX: +10 STA: +15 WIS: +5 INT: +5 AGI: +10 HP: +125 MANA: +125 ENDUR: +125
SV FIRE: +10 SV DISEASE: +5 SV COLD: +10 SV MAGIC: +15 SV POISON: +5
                    Attack: +20 Regeneration: +2 Mana Regeneration: +1
Recommended level of 65. Required level of 63.
WT: 3.0 Range: 250 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD ROG
                    Race: ALL
                    Slot 1, Type 7
                    Slot 2, Type 4

That's pretty bad in itself. However, if you had the CTLCB I just detailed, which looked like this pre-patch:

                    Composite Treant Laminated Compound Bow
                    MAGIC ITEM
                    Slot: RANGE
                    Skill: Archery Atk Delay: 37

YOU GOT THIS AWESOME BOW IN RETURN:

Druzzil's Composite Treant Laminated Compound Bow
                    MAGIC ITEM ATTUNEABLE
                    Slot: RANGE

                    Attack: +20 Regeneration: +2 Mana Regeneration: +2
Recommended level of 70. Required level of 68.
WT: 3.0 Range: 250 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD ROG
                    Race: ALL
                    Slot 1, Type 7
                    Slot 2, Type 4

SO, If you had the nicer bow, which required an extra combine, you got a slightly upgraded version of the Compound bow. If you had the Compound bow, you got the VERY nice Druzzil bow. This is horribly handled. Why in the world would people with the "worse" bow get the massive upgrade (ratio alone is huge deal), while those that had made the extra effort for the nicer Plainswalker get *EDITED*?

There has to be a way to correct this injustice.

I'm sorry Ngreth, you are an awesome dev in so many aspects.....

...but this was just stupid. Everyone elses comments are completely on the money with this one. If you ask me, a better solution would have been to just leave all the old bows exactly as they were, and let people craft the new ones from scratch. Giving the worse bow for the plainswalker and the better bow for the composite was the WORST possible solution possible. It really just makes everyone upset.

One good thing to come from this was the attunable tag, which helps sellers very very much in the long run. I thank you for that anyway.

P.S. To anyone thinking this is just a bug: Ngreth has already stated in the official tradeskill forums that this was intended because "maddoc wanted it like this". So don't hold your breath on this getting changed.

P.P.S. By the way Ngreth, thanks for specifically telling us not to hoard bows. I sure as heck wish I would have hoarded about 10 of the regular composite treant laminate compounds. If the favor of druzzils are easily obtainable/vendor purchasable, I won't be too upset. But if they are a rare drop / raid drop I'm going to be fairly angry.

                        What they should have done:

Leave existing Plainswalkers in game AS THEY WERE. Unchanged.
Take Plainswalker recipe out of the game.
Make the changes to Compound Treant . . that they did, same recipe
                        Add Druzzil Recipe.

Right now I'm wishing very much I'd had my friend stop at the CLTCB. I was thinking I might want the Lifedraw, but went for more HP and Mana regen instead. Silly me.

I'm in the exact same situation, and I agree completely. If there were few enough Plainswalkers in game that the developers felt the main issue was the Compound bow - the above would have been the neatest solution. And I would honestly not have minded if the ORIGINAL Plainswalkers were made attuneable. (I admit that, having come back from retirement, and having bought PoR at the moment I did because of this bow, I desperately needed the slug of disease and poison resist - which is GONE in the replacement.)

At the very least, I'd like to see the old Plainswalkers replaced with the Druzzil bow straight across. But I think Aquendor's proposal is the simplest change which would leave people happy, AND remove the bow that was apparently of most concern.

Could those of us who had a Plainswalker, please have it back?

I'd be satisfied either way. Let me have the original Plainswalker back or give me the Druzzil bow. Either way, I'm getting something I could've had before since I had the Plainswalker and could've easily bought the bow that is now the Druzzil when I purchased the Plainswalker since it was selling for roughly half the price.

It just doesn't sit well with me that now I've got a bow that is subpar to a bow that I passed up on to get it AND the bow I'm left with is worse than it was when I bought it.

I posted what they should have done, just based on their apparent desire to remove Plainswalker. What I would have done:

                              Change Plainswalkers into Druzzil bow,
                              Remove Plainswalker recipe.
                              Add recipe for Druzzil bow.
Change CTLCB to what they changed it to.

Plainswalkers were selling 50% higher than the Composite. I feel sorry for people that paid 125K on my server when they first hit the bazaar, with a CTLCB sitting there for 100K.

I could make some snide remarks about the only people being really **** with this is Rangers, but I'll refrain . . .

I don't understand all the flipping out.

Seriously folks, it's not like the components are super hard to get. The branches are all groundspawns or drop from easy mobs, the cam pieces are groundspawns, and the horse hoofs drop from easy mobs. If you don't like what you have, make a different one.
