...and then I thought, gnomes? Tinkering? Perhaps it's not something tinkered, but he's pointing us over to the tinkering site. As it happens, he also frequents there as well. Hmmmm.

Just fyi, some recipes from a message he posted here:

Missing recipes?

of the top of my head....

Test of Hate Brewing quest for Dark Elfs/High Elf Discover the SPY Quest...A Pixie based faydwer special brew... yes that's the first of my missing Diaries.

Brodder's Revenge- or Hair of the Dwarf that bit you. (My Emphasis)

Red Hot Vodka- Hot spices, Vodka.

Hot Toddy- Rum, Cider/Tea, Cinamon stick, piece of butter, icing(sweetner)

Gnomish Pirate Grog (Catbik Tinkerton's Cureall)- recipe may have been too funny and risque for EQ...think I made the devs I sent it to spew coffee and mt dew on their computers...

ROK recipes... Iksar Salts- blood, salt, brewing stuffs, makes a chunky, frothy salty beverage that can act like a meal for a shedding iksar- promotes good scale and teeth growth-replacement.

Druid Vision Broth- mushrooms...plants...leaves...pixie dust...fruit juice...some mana...uhoh...maybe a quart of minobrew might have been better...

Ogre Bean beer...explosive...and source of ogre humor...barbarians and gnomes find it funny too...well the gnomes do unless they're behind a Barb or ogre drinking this...

Surprising what you turn up when you google someone. Dunno if these are known or not, likely are. Come from a 3 year old post on EQClerics:

-------------

Well I decided to come up with some more recipes for the brewers among us...
First off The Double Brewed Double Stout Dwarven Ale.
Dwarven Ale + Dwarven Ale + Short Beer + short Beer+ Cask = DBDSDA (or Holy
water to us dwarves)

The FrostBite
Vodka + Gnomish Spirits + Herb (pepermint/hot pepper) + ice of Velious + Bottle (a
frosty concotion with a bite, also doubled as antifreeze for the gnome explorers of
Velious) Would look like a frosty bottle with a bluish tinted liquid in it-think cabilis
pale ale, but not pink, but light bluish in same bottle)

Brodder's Revenge or Hair of the Dwarf that Bit ye!
Mug Ale, shot scotch/whisky, veggies, snake egg
cask. Good for what ails yah in dah morning. Secondary effect regurgitonic. (I
know no effects with alcoholic beverages, maybe shaman could make the
activateable one by adding a herb/root and rebottling it- a crossover trade skill
requiring this brew)

Stormguard Root Beer!
Two Foraged Roots, spices, water flask, yeast, bottle.
For the kiddies out there...

Root Beer Float
Root Beer and an Ice of Velious+ Icing

Malted Milk
Malt + Milk + Bottle

Egg NOG
Malted Milk + spices + Snake Egg(2) +Bottle

Egg NOG XXX a holiday treat.
Egg Nog + spirits of some sort (Brandy)

Schnapps
Fruit/Berries + Vodka/gnomish spirits + sweetener

Fizzlepop
Bottle + Berries + flask water + soda stone (new item?)
A gnomsih child and wood elf delight. Sickly sweet and ever bubbly!

Kandrak, excellent re-post. All recipes listed except for the Frostbite and the Brodder's Revenge are known and confirmed live (although some in slightly modified forms).

Also, for anyone trying the Frostbite, try a chunk of ice from the Golras in TD, as that was what ended up being used in the Rootbeer Float in place of the Ice of Velious.

A Few Tho'ts on Brodder FoamyMugs' post ...

----*looks about the room and whistles innocently, as he moves towards an exit and is stopped by a Halfling wielding scissors and a knitting needle*

Message board RP uses the thread as a 'room', so should be DenMom referred to.

----Ohh hey! Watch the beard by Brell!!

Responds like DenMom (or anyone wanting info from him in this in this room) threatens his dwarven beard, which even the women are proud enough to grow.

This next is the clue, it has to be. Nothing was asked in specific, but he did make reference to a specific type of drink, an ale. But, what question was he answering?

----Now I wouldn't know anything about new ales would I?
----Nope, if it was new I'd have tried it yep yep...

Something like, "Would I have to brew some new ale to see if it is her favorite?" or "Can you tell me about a new ale that you have only
heard of but never made?" I am very sure these are wrong questions, as I dont know what the correct wording could be. I am not good
at solving word puzzles. Maybe the ale is one that has already been tried, but it was not done the way the quest needs it to be done.
Could there be another NPC that needs asked "What is her favorite drink?" or variations of it? What other in-game references are made by her or other hailable characters that could be links to this?

----Oh Look Sticky Rolls !!

----*points at a high shelf near the bar, and as the halfling races to climb up and check the shelf just to be sure, the dwarf sneaks out whistling and patting his supply bag*

I would take this to mean one of a few things.
(1) Well, he just gave a halfling something that is liked by halflings. This is the DenMom on EQTraders, and tradeskills are liked here. His clue is about an ale. This 'new ale' would be the 'sticky roll', or 'treat' given, meaning a chance to discover a new recipie not yet finished,
or to complete an unsolved quest. Given this, the clue could make it an ale made specifically for a quest. What other quest drinks are there and how complicated were they to make? If you're going to list any, please use a link to make it easy on the rest of us. Then we can follow the logic in the development of the drink (what combined with what and how many of each 'what'; was it easy for the reward given, or did you have to trek all over Norrath; etc.) People can go from there, if it would even help.

(2) That a halfling in the game somewhere needs given a sticky roll of some sort (like a hot cross bun) in order for another hint to be given. So, how many baking recipies involve making some sort of Sticky Bun? And if so, where / how are they made if not just the fruit/dough/frosting?
Are they made for another quest-related reason of any sort? Would a Sticky Roll need to be given in order to make the drink better
(like I can drink milk and it is nothing special, but if I have a sweet roll with it, it is my favorite drink above all else (example only);
or what kind of ale is related to a sweet roll in any way in-game or RL, etc.)? This is a stretch, tho, and dunno if it is accurate.

(3) Whistling while walking just means to move along happily or easily, although there are many whistle-whetters in the game. The Deep zone Shreikers drop, er, A Shreiking fluid?, forget the name, which is a whistle-whetter. A foage in CScar, I think it is, is a whistle-whetter, brackish water, if I remember right. Can whistle-whetters be combined in any way? I am not a master brewer, and I dont know my brewing books forward and back. Again if listing any, please leave details, tho I am not sure this is the right track. FoamyMugs does, however, get the halfling to check on the shelf IN HER OWN PLACE where she would know where things are. "...races to climb up and check the shelf JUST TO BE SURE."
This should be a known thing, I would believe. Someone did link a prior post on an EQTrader thread (or DenMom's 'shelf', maybe?) by this same dwarf. Are there any others?

(4) What dwarven supplies are there that are used to make ale with? So, ... a dwarf with a supply bag. What brewing components are there that are dwarf-vendored or dwarf-supplied? Even as a sub-quest? Or what quests are involving a dwarven supply bag of some sort that also needs a brew in the quest? Can already-made ales be bottled after being player brewed? Can vendor-sold ales be modified by players, like 'upgraded' somehow, or 'changed'?

----Dem tinkers sure make good ale carriers dey doo...

With the accent he is typing with, he leaves out the H's. So "Dem tinkers sure make good ale carriers day doo..." becomes "Them Thinkers sure make good ale carriers they do..." He does not say Dem *Tinkerers*, which WOULD be staying within the accent used. I dont recall ever seeing in-game text from a dwarf that refers to a gnome or a 'tinkerer' as a 'tinker', tho I am sure I have not talked to them all, heh. The smart races are Gnomes and Erudites, I would think. Now, what carries ale? Casks do. Brew Barrels are stationary, so would not fit the defenition of a 'carrier' in my book, but again, I am not up on all EQ methods of brewing. Bottles are very portable, and the gnomish corking device needs to put corks in something, and I believe bottles are used in the liquidized grobb meat which is made with a corking device. Have combinations of ales and the corking device been tried ad naseum for combines? And are there any drinks made in Erudin, or any special bottles / casks to be found in Erudin, or related to any Erudite? Or are there any gnome or erudite
drink delivery people in EQ that relate to ales? Like the gnome prisoner in the Erudin jail, I believe it is. He needs a specific drink, but I only
read about the quest, never did it, and that was long ago. I don't remember the details, but he wants a special drink of some sort, which gives faction hits, no? Is a sub-quest in making it. Might be worth looking into.

Well, I am FAAK, I prolly mixed up a few sentences, scuze those, if I did. Hope it might shed some light on this quest. Will check back for more infos.

What about a drink combined in a toolbox? Fire water is made in a toolbox, so maybe firewater modifying an existing ale recipe?

Like barley, malt and firewater in a brew barrel/toolbox?

There is an item called "Case of Jumjum Juice"

Being that the recipie calls for something from a halfling shelf (jumjum most likely), and it wouldnt technically be a new item of any kind.

Perhaps she wants a lot of it at once? the case itself could have been tinkered at one time.

Doesn't she say "guess"?

Well.. given that someone, somewhere, has tried almost every possible drink by giving to her, I'm left wondering if giving something to her is the answer at all.

What if she simply wants you to guess the name of the drink? Does she specifically ask to be given a drink, or just for you to guess?

I'm going to try logging in again tonight, and if the gods of WinXP Compatibility are with me, I'll spend some time with Miss Lawena trying to find out.

D'OH! Oh man, I can't believe I didn't think of that! He would have refered to it as a tinkerER and not just a tinker if it was tinkered wouldn't he? So then... perhaps a drink for INT casters?

OR

You have to remember that Dwarves in general don't much like those uppedy erudites, so he would have referred to them as something derogatory. But a thinker is one who thinks, and is reguarded as wise.
Is there some kind of cleric quest that you need ale for? Mabye a bag?

Has anyone tried to imbue an ale? If anyone could, trust a dwarf to imbue something to imbibe. Wasn't there some kind of Brell's something-or-other that summoned ale? That would make it an ale carrier because it could produce ale.

Just grasping at straws here
