I'm skill 257 smith with blacksmithing master 3 aa's and salvage 3 aa's and a +15% smithing mod item. That puts me at about 295 modified skill.
For making GM armor that trivials around 386, I'm trying to get an approximate chance of success. I checked the "calculator" on eqtraders.com and it said something like 79% chance to make the armor, but from what I hear people with 345 modified skill dont' even succeed at that rate.
I've got some plat to spend and I was thinking about buying up all the metallic drake scales in the bazaar at around 25k-30k each and trying my luck at the breastplate & greaves. But at the same time if the chance of success isn't at least 50-50 then I'm wasting my plat bigtime.
Anyone tried the armor around 295 modified skill?
