New Oracle Quest

btw probably unrelated, but a poster on the safehouse is reporting that the Large Dino in OoT is dropping a lore nodrop 'Precious Garnet'. It dropped three out of three kills and it does not sound familiar to me as a always drop item.

I am not sure if they are on Dark Bargainers faction or not. Supposedly the neriak merchants are and I'm ally with them but apprehensive with the oracle and co.

EDIT: Take this for what its worth. I petitioned the oracle after checking my Dark Bargainers faction, which is ally, and a Guild told me it was very odd and to /bug it.

Ssynthi was in Mistmoore years and years before the RPG came out. Has he been changed?

I always had a soft spot in my heart for him. The shadowman who abandoned his people for true love. It was always scary to sneak into the crypt and pick up the flower to give to him. Even after I learned where exactly the pits were in the crypt, I was nervous.

And I always hated it when my group members would kill him for the robe. It was poetic justice when they learned that they were KOS in the Temple of Sol Ro after that and couldn't do the uber quests without a lot of faction work.

I can verify that the dino in OOT never droped a 'Precious Garnet' before, well, several months ago, I used to farm him for EXP and rare gems and it never droped.

OK, next step:
Hand the note to the Oracle (loc neg500, neg8800 in OoT, over from Sister Island) and he replies with this big spiel about how powerful phylacteries are, and you must prove yourself to him. Apparently, you prove your responsibility by stealing other peoples' books and giving them to his assistant.

When you hand in a book, he'll (supposedly) tell you what the next book it, while also giving you 1/6th (per turn in) of the instructions to make a phylactery of your very own.

Book 1: 'The Spellbook of Miragul' (Presumably the Tome of Miragul)

Sir Artanis is one of the guards that wanders around the Hall of Truth, the paladin guildhouse in North Freeport.

Sir Artanis says ''Yes Kyroskrane, thank you for responding with such haste. The Knights of Marr recently captured a Teir'Dal wizard who under intense questioning revealed a variety of disturbing matters. First, he worships Solusek Ro, which is no crime, but considering the nearby temple's past associations with the Burning Dead, specifically Marnek about whom you recently delivered revelations, then his other information seems even more dire. Secondly, he has admitted that he was in Freeport attempting to contact the leaders of the Dismal Rage for he understood that they have nearly completed a phylactery, a device that holds the mortal soul of a lich. In light of this, we ask that you visit the Oracle of K'Arnon in the Ocean of Tears to learn whatever you can about the nature of these phylacteries, including the means to create one so that we better know how to destroy them. This letter will serve as proof that you come in the name of the Knights of Marr.''

He hands you a note. Head to OoT and find the Oracle.

You say, 'Hail, Oracle of K`Arnon'
Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Greetings, Kyroskrane, I am the Oracle of K'Arnon. Do you quest for [knowledge] yourself, or do you offer that which I [seek]?'

Hand in the Note.

Oracle of K`Arnon says ''You walk a dangerous path if you seek to construct a phylactery. I can indeed assist you, but you must both pay my price of knowledge for knowledge and prove to me that you are capable of controlling the forces you might unleash. I seek six volumes of magical power and knowledge that are spread across the commonly known lands of Norrath and even beyond, in the planes. For each you bring me I shall instruct you on the next step in the process and provide you with one of the required pieces. Completing each step will require acquiring even more items. The process is time-consuming, but the power of a phylactery is such that it will benefit even a bearer who does not aspire to lichdom. When you are certain you are ready to begin, talk to my assistant, Jeyular and hand him. . . hmmm, where shall we start? I think it would be fitting to begin with a tome by the great lich himself, Miragul.'

Oh, so this is a quest that was already in the game, but was not working? Or the quest items could never be found? So, if we petition about faction they will just tell us tough luck? Looking at Allakazam, it looks like the only way to raise faction is in the dark elf city. That does not do much good for the non-evil races.

Another possible item he may want: Ancient Tome of Necromantic Magic that drops in Miragul's Menagerie -- an LDoN zone.
