    Thank you

I would like to thank Ngreth for keeping us updated on the changes going on with the new jc materials. I was afraid that if level requirements or recommendations were put on the new materials that they would cancel out the usefulness of these new pieces. The main focus of these new items (at least for me and my guild) has been twinkage. At higher levels I have seen more of an emphasis placed on focus effects and this has been addressed with the new drop items with the multiple effects. Placing recommended levels on all of the gems would have rendered the entire change in jc either ineffective or cost prohibitive.

I will look forward to seeing if the balance has been struck that enables us to retain the purpose in these changes.

Once again Thank you for your hard work

      re

something is screwy with the rec levels.

At lvl 44 i get 1ac 13 HP and 1 to all stats from harmonagate (rec level of 70) which was 10AC 250HP and 19 to stats/resists before

Definitely something wrong in the scripting.

75+ toons with round cut Taaffeite showing full stats, 19ac, 250h/m/e, 23 stats and resists, but on my 56 War, I'm showing 1ac, 19h/m/e, 1 stats / resists. That's just not right, this item is now worse than the same one with the Faerrune slot 11 or the 13 ds or the regen ones, without any effects

I believe they used a very steep curve for the recommended levels, have not logged in to look at any of the numbers though.

So far have seen posts about
          Harmonagate - now recommended 70
          Taaffeite - now recommended 75

My guess is Prestidigitase will be 65 and Staurolite will be 60. I also suspect some of the Nihilites will have them as well.

Can keep a list here but any changes need to also be submitted to the database update submissions section to make it into the actual database item listings.

If you're over the rec level, the max stats are all the same from all I have checked. But huge loss at even 5 levels, for even 75 rec stuff. Taaffeite and Harmonagate stuff is worthless unless your 70+, which doesn't make any sense. Now if it was worthless at say 30 level, I could see that. But even at 56, I get 10ac, 100hp, +13 ds or +7 regen or mana regen on several items, but the taaffeite item, is 9ac, 93hp, 19m/e, +1 stats / resists. I think that's ridiculous, it should be better ac / hp with the loss of DS or Regen or Mana Regen.

I hope this was not the intention.

                  hahahahaha

What a disaster. What complete garbage. There is absolutly no wonder why EQ is dying, how can you possibly expect to jerk people around this badly and not lose customers.

                  It honestly is rediculous.

Edit: Ngreth, man, do you realize how many people sold off thier old (now much better) gear because of the trio stuff being superior? What the hell is wrong with you? Other than the fact that you couldn't care less...

Edit2: and don't you diplomats and mods come in here and remove this or deffend the change... This crap is KILLING the game, or do you guys want to see that happen? It makes no sence.

Toll, you might be upset (along with quite a few others) but your outa line on that, N'greth has been the best thing to happen to the tradeskill community, and hes fixed ALOT of problems. remember, there are others in the chain of command and his recomendations are not always accepted

IF you think its bad on the main servers try look at the combine!

max stats all got lowered - totally fubar'd JC'd items. We don't even have access to dwerium, palladium is top for us.

Ngreth tells you, "hrm. oops." !!!!

I have two alts wearing Dwerium stuff, one is 72 and one is 55.

On the level 72 I have a couple of pieces, one with nihilite in it which has a rec level of 65, and one with harmonagate in it which is rec 70. Since she is over the rec level these items show as they did before the patch. Full HP/Mana, AC etc.

However when I log on the level 55 chanter who has been unabashedly twinked with this stuff, things look very different. She is only wearing shimmering/crimson nihilite, opal, emerald combos, I went with cheap and simple since I am levelling her purely to be an enchant this bar, purify this mana, hold my tradeskill items kind of toon.

When I look at the level 55 toon. The crimson nihilite shows a modified stat at 55/65 of AC 3, HP 95. The unmodified stats show as AC 3 HP 112. So the scaling is working (at least for the unmodified stats as they are showing currently), it's the unmodified stats which have been affected.

Is there some added penalty that is not clear, for being below the recommended level? Should I switch out the dwerium to paladium or another lesser bar? I remember reading that while the actually jewelry wouldn't have a rec level that it might be changed to try and encourage players to use the paladium, velium and so on settings.

However, even given the nerf, for my level 55 chanter, these items are still a lot better (and cheaper since I made them myself) than almost anything else I could find for her to wear in non-visible slots, so I'm not upset about. I'm glad we got the warning we did, and I leveled her from 1 to 55 before the patch.

Aside from being told they werent what was quite intended..... anyone whos played eq for any amount of time knows better then to look at something that is too good to be true and NOT expect them to be "nerfed" All of Norrath has been waiting with bated breath expecting this nerf .... frankly with all the 100 page rants everywhere , were lucky that we still have people like Ng on our side still.... less whining , more positive feedback.

we knew a nerf was coming, i dont think many of us knew THIS nerf was coming. I'd just like an explanation of exactly how it works, since it is obviously not the traditional system of rec levels.

Edit: forget it... its just a game, I just dont understand how anyone can expect anything besides alienated users as a result of all the recent changes.

We have to do the recommended level in the script that does the metal adjustment because scripts override the default recommended level code.

Maddoc plans on using a formula such that we will not need required levels, but if you are too low bellow the recommended level you will only get 10% (rounded DOWN) of the stats (if you are close you get more)

so the CURRENT plan is for no required levels.

The Ngreth quote is from the 10th post in this very thread, from back in November. Not only did he tell us recommended levels were coming, he told us how extreme it would be if you were much below the recommended level.

Despite what he said in that quote however, it turns out that the recommended level system DID work with the scripts. So we ended up getting a double adjustment, that's a bug, and I expect it will be fixed.
