Buy a drink...

Ok, I did some follow-up, and she does say exactly "If you buy me..." not "If you guess...".

So.. that leads me to believe that it does mean something bought, not made, and that it's probably something bought (or found) right there in the bar where Lawena hangs out.

Going to check the text from the other bar NPC's at the moment...

I think you're all working WAY to hard at figuring out the posting of an (in)famous role-player and the man many consider to be the father of brewing in EQ, because of all the work he did getting the devs to add in new recipies.

I'm 95% sure that what he posted was role-playing, not the answer.

I'm 95% sure that your 95% correct. I have come to the conclusion that the Vicar of Liquor's message was no more or less than there is no recipe that we have to invent (e.g. kava juice).

In all likelihood, it's some obscure drink sold by a hidden merchant somewhere in Luclin. I believe that this was meant to be an low level quest with a small reward, and we all have been working to hard to solve it. On the other hand, I'll be the first to admit that I hope I'm wrong and great rewards await the clever (or lucky) person who solves the riddle.

Whoever or whatever it is, I wish one of us could figure it out, so I can quit losing sleep. :?

Firewater
Vodka
Egg

Possibly a stretch, but...

"The clue in a name could be... "

Devs have been known to do trixy things with the names of stellar or influential players, both with their names themselves and names of items. I'm theorizing that maybe the MUG of sea FOAM could very likely be an ingredient in this drink that we are all bashing our heads in about. Also the "Blue" in "Cold n Blue" perhaps solidifies this ingredient seeing as how oceans and seas and large bodies of water are often known as "the blue" or "the big blue" (I'm sure that I am not the only one of have heard or used these terms) and the only known source of Mugs of Sea Foam the OCEAN of Tears.

Additionally, the clue about vodka, eggs and spices may not go into the recipe directly, but rather be a hint as to a sub-combine. We should try vodka + spices + various different eggs to possibly come up with a useable ingredient.

Actually

"The clue in a name could be... "

Probably refers to the fact that Lewena can be rearranged to

<TAH DAH>

New Ale.

Doh.

I followed Brodder's "Frostbite" recipe and created a Frothy Frostbite.

(Vodka + Gnomish Spirits + Spices + Ice of Velious + Bottle)

Unfortunately, it wasn't Lewena's favorite.

It seems that the hints point toward the new ale in question being Brodders Revenge. "The clue in a name could be" might refer to the fact that Lewana is anagram of "new ale" or it might refer to Brodders name being in the name of the ale, or both.

Anyway, scrolled back up for Brodder's original Brodders Revenge recipie:

"Mug Ale, shot scotch/whisky, veggies, snake egg, cask."

Compare this with:

"But with vodka, and egg and spices concoted...
Your revenge might be cured after all... "

So if the Brodders Revenger recipie that went live (if one did in fact go live and this isn't just a wild goose chase) is anything like the original perhaps it substitutes vodka for the scotch/whiskey and spices for the vegetables. However, all of the following were DNCs:

Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices
Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Cask
Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Bottle
Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Vegetables
Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Cask + Vegetables
Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Bottle + Vegetables
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Cask
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Bottle
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Vegetables
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Cask + Vegetables
Short Ale + Vodka + Snake Egg + Spices + Bottle + Vegetables

Then I got to thinking about one of the other major clues:

"Perhaps a mug on a shelf a clue?
"Near the lass it may be.

"But it's not far from that hall..."

Tried clicking on all the mugs on the shelf in the bar in Shadowhaven. Nothing. I thought maybe there was a ground spawn (well, shelf spawn) container to be used in the combine. Nothing. Then it occured to me that perhaps the Ale in the recipie was substituted for some other drink. Something that would be sold near Lewana. Possibly something with a graphic that looked like a mug of ale.

Three items are sold in the bar that have a mug graphic: Light Haven Ale, Dark Haven Ale and Grimthor Lager. Tried substituting them for Ale in all of the above recipies. All DNCs. Went back and tried all of the other drinks sold in the bar. All DNCs.

I think I might be close. Gonna keep trying. Perhaps the egg in question isn't a snake egg.
