That is something I have mentioned several times. I do not know why or how, But sunshard does give LESS skill ups then other combines. Unfortunatly the relevant person still claims this not to be so.

Make a complete, accurate, and detailed log of a thousand Sunshard combines, calculate the skillup rate, and compare that to a thousand combines of something else with the same trivial. If you can statistically show a meaningful difference, you'll have a valid basis with which to declare Sunshard broken.

Anything less than a few hundred combines is far too easily swayed by random chance. Even a thousand is the low end of what I'd look for, statistically speaking, since it will translate into maybe 30-40 usable data points.

In my opinion the Sunshard Ore path is meant for the plat farmers to make money. Sorry Ngreth, it is a great idea, but the economics are just not working out.

They sell for 1000 – 1500 each on The Rathe, for a combine you need to add another 450pp to buy the silver and stuff. With a sell back price around 400pp we are losing 50pp per combine, this doesn’t take into account the 1000pp to buy the ore. So for 100 combines this comes to a loss of 50,000pp and if you are lucky you will get 4 points. A run from 280 – 300 will take around 500 combines, 250,000pp loss. Ya, for most to get that kind of cash, they will go to a plat seller and just buy pp and pay the inflated prices of the bazaar; and since folks are doing this, the prices are not coming down.

The sunshard ore is used by a great many tradeskills, it shoudn’t be a rare as it is.

I have maxed all my skills except Tailoring. I have killed the othmirs till I can’t stand them no more and hunted the Holgresh forever and a day. I still have a ways to go and almost to the point of just buying plat so I can afford the 250k loss. (and I am a dwarf, so there isn’t a cultural path for me to use as an option).

I never meant it as the ONLY path. especially with the low drop rate.

There is a great guide for making 100 MTP's including quantities needed etc.

Does anyone have something similar for MCS?

Not really a narrative guide, but a useful diagram for making MCS --> http://www.eq-manager.com/MistletoeCuttingSickle.pdf

My experience making MCSs was that x2 stacks at a time was about ideal based on available bag space. You could certainly store and bank the emeralds for more if you cant make them yourself, but Im not a fan of storing vendored components and subcombines for future use. I just buy the stuff and make the subcombines as I need them for actual skillups.

                  Alternate Pottery Recipe

I just finished pottery, and for others like me who lack a high level forager, but have access to a high level enchanter, I would like to point out Unfired Faithstone of Decay. It takes an Idol Sketch (vendor bought in PoK), a Water Flask, a Large Block of Magic Clay (Enchanter), Sculpting Tools, Fetid Essence (fishing grubs and water flask in brew barrel), a Celestial Essence, and a Vial of Distilled Mana (2 Sapphires, a Poison Vial, and an Enchanter). It's fairly expensive, except when compared to the prospect of using sunshards or spring water from the bazaar. It trivials at 335, so it can take pottery to max.

                    More Smithing Alternatives:

                    Alternative to 295:
                    - 295 Tae Ew Chain Tunic/Tae Ew Chain Leggings (both tribute for over 4000)

Alternative to 300 for Dark Elves:
                    - Dark Prince Regent or Tier’dal Regent

                    Alternative to 300 for Dwarves:
                    - Brellium, Mischievous or Underfoot Platemail

                    Alternative to 300 for Ogres:
                    - Crimson, Fulvous, or Blackened Darkscale

Alternative to 300 for High Elves:
                    - Full Mithril or Blessed Full Mithril

                    Alternative to 300 for Humans:
                    - Fine, Fierce, Hateful, Luminant, Radiant, Salubrious, Thunderous, Dragonkin, or Fetid Heraldic

These are the old “Blue Diamond” culturals. Iksar Skyiron theoretically exists as a path to 300, but farming Iksar Blood for the temper is problematic; Troll BD cultural is similarly not really viable.

95th Priest of Brell, Povar-Quellious, 300 Dwarven Grand Master Smith, 300 all skills
(holds his 15% smithing trophy in his off hand and pretends to dual-wield - and hopes the Holy Dirt of Brell he's carried for twelve years will have a use in the new expansion)

95th Shaman of Inny, Povar-Quellious, 300 Troll Grand Master Smith
(got so tired of looking for a troll smith for armor that I made one)

                    Marzanna
                    95th Necromancer, Povar-Quellious, 300 Tinker - Tailor
                    (still working on Solder, Spy)

Dulak's Harbor. The Iksar and Dark Elven ship doesn't have too bad of a drop rate. It sure beats farming Iksar Necro's in Dalnir and Sebilis

                        Might I suggest for Tailoring...

                        from 77 to 87 - Bola
Since you have to farm HQ cat for the tailored quiver anyhow, it gives you something to do with the MQ cat you get along the way. More expensive than the quiver less farming in total than quivers from 77 up...
I call for the elimination of EQ levels 1-50.

Beer-Battered Hynid/Cragbeast/Tuna/Crab Souffles should be added to the baking skillup path. Trivial 252, and in the particular case of Tuna/Crab, the only non-vendor component is very commonly fished in a safe zone, not even Foraging required.
