    And pet classes.

Not sure about quaders, you'd quickly get lots of adds maybe.

Hasted Level 61 Shaman pet with Avatar and 2 weapons chews em up real gud $$

But yes, 150 lifetaps chew people up, though maybe a 65 tank full MR gear with Fungi tunic would be ok.

Cannot remember the grimlings name. The belt is a 14-16% haste with decent stats. a good drop at the level that would usually hunt this zone. i had one but i destroyed it for my Belt of Contention due to the 5-7% haste increase. the sonic wolves are always up in hollowshade on Tribunal. i have a feeling lots of smiths farm here, and when i actually get some plat to skill up some (currently spending it all on my NToV SV kit) i intend to go there to farm after i max fine plate.

        For the sake of accuracy:

The named grimling is Gleeknot Gnitr. He spawns in the left 'node' of the owlbear cave, when the grimlings own it. The stats are:
        Belt of the Grimling Skullcracker
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
        Slot: WAIST
        AC: 10
        Effect: Haste (worn)
        STR: +4 HP: +20
        WT: 2.0 Size: SMALL
        Classes: ALL
        Races: ALL

        The haste is 11%
This is a compromise item, halfway between a spiderfur belt and an FBSS, since it is NO DROP, the camp is often free. Therefore (if the grimlings are up) it is one of the easiest haste items to get, without spending plat on.

All of this has very little to do with the topic at hand.
TS is only for quaders and Higher level Melee, the MoBs have a 150 HP life tap that procs fairly regularly. If you can stand up to them, then it is a great camp.
Even high level melee don't hold up too well to mobs that proc 150 point lifetap this often. The best melee/hybrid would be paladin (shadows count as undead) with a high damage, high delay two-hander, chain stunnning, and using vs. undead nukes and procs (or fear kiting). Pet classes, wizards, clerics, druids, and shaman are the best choices for fighting here.

Until now i have been farming shadow around the lesser shade spawn spot around the cave entrance that leads to Paludal.
That cave. I've heard rumors of Shak Dratha dropping swirling shadows, but to the best of my knowledge, they are nothing but rumors.

I've recently started farming substances for SS armor and have kept to HSM for my hunting. At 56 I can easily solo wolves, owlbears and grimlings.

My question is, has anyone ever sucsessfuly reset the war?

Myself and another person were farming the wolves and agreed to try to flip/reset the war so we could get the owlbears to pop. We helped the wolves take all three camps and waited at the Vah Shir outpost for the boss to spawn. After 30mins (+/- 15m), nothing had happened. Just sonic wolves everywhere.

I've read an "walk thru" of the war script on Beastiary, for what it's worth. It seemed accurate, but gave no hint as to the time table of the "Prince" spawning after all three camps had been conquored.

          Any ideas?

I have never seen the zone sucessfully reset by a *player* before.

I believe getting the prince to spawn is impossible, as once one race takes over it just stays that way.

Of note, when the Owlbears have control of the Islands, a single Grimling still exists in one of the fishing huts.

And when the Sonic Wolves have control, there is one spot were a double spawn takes place.

Perhaps its things like this that stop the prince from spawning ...

I've also killed a grimling that had "a sonic (whatever)" name tag showing... Also seen an owlbear that had "a grimling (something)" tag.

It's a buggy zone, that's for sure. They need to either remove the "war" part and have the substances drop from their respective races or fix the darn thing.

I should add that when I logged back in a few hours later, the grimlings were back in the south camp. (When I logged out earlier, the wolves were in all three camps.) So something happened. Not sure what though. I'll try to find the other player that was there with me and ask if the Prince ever popped.

I've been running alts through the zone lately to get the wolfbane weapon for my main(nobody seems to do the quest anymore) and I have noticed the zone getting repopped more often recently on The Nameless. I can't say whether this is from /petitions or SOE has decided to just do it at a certain interval yet though. I hope it's the second because I still have a lot of farming to do.

Only way for me to reset zone was to petition. Yet you have to hope GMs will do it... Never seen Prince up.

This was spotted on TZ yesterday:

You petition: "War in Hollowshade Moor zone is stuck. Please reset the zone. Thank you."

                  ... hour later ...

Porsia tells you: "Hello, this is Guide Porsia. Is your warrior still stuck in Holloshade Moor zone?"

Oh my... it's sad when they assume you are an incompetent typer . I've almost hit the point where I need to start shadowscream or cultural (3 more skillups on fine plate... come on baby!) so I've read these threads with interest. I just hope as a 54 cleric I can mow through the mobs fast enough!

It should be plenty Make sure you have your level 52 spell upheaval. The trick to massive farming is a second class. I've done it with a 54 druid and another time with 54 warrior.

With the druid I did this: I would buff up, start massive train of all the mobs on south islands I could get (just left autoattack on and used bash as I ran up to mob, you have to keep running or the train will get you), drag train back to druid, druid cast upheaval and 95% of mobs died and rest were easy pickings. I counted the deathtoll and found I was pulling 50-55 mobs at a time (love the fast respawn!). One time I had to use divine aura on the way back so I would live (they still stuck to me because druid didn't touch them until the upheaval that killed them). Once I pulled around 75, proceeded to nearly die as druid was standing in the water so aoe didn't hit the mobs. He had agro'd half of them and we ran around for about 15 minutes trying to kill them (was pretty hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing while running for my life)

With warrior: Warrior would agro all the mobs he could find, bring the train back to me, I cast upheaval and mobs were dead. Simple. Though I liked it with druid more because I got to play puller

Excellent, thank you for the advice. Just need to convince a guildy of the benefit to coming with me . One Upheavel will finish them off?

                          New place for Swirling Substances?

I admit that I'm a bad boy and don't read every response in a thread. However, I thought I'd add this in case it's been missed or is new.

The other day I was in Maiden's Eye to get Akeva Blood off the four-armed dudes. I pulled one and got one of the black-robed guys (who look like the shadows out in Twilight Sea. So I had to kill them both.

When I looted the robed fellow, imagine my surprise to find 2 Swirling Shadows on him!

So we may have a new mob to battle to get those things. I didn't try any others, so I don't know the drop rate. The robes are significantly harder and have pets, so we can hope for better rates. However, given that this is EQ and they don't actually understand risk vs. reward, we probably shouldn't hold our collective breaths.

Yes, I have been hunting in ME at the Akheva zone line recently. The guys that look sort of like spectres withouth the scythe (names like Xi Vius and such) drop swirling shadows.

The aliens (umbrous toilers) will drop akheva blood from time to time, too.

At 53 it's a good experience camp, gets smithing ingredients, and the occasional good rare item drop, like a Vah Shir claw earring. Hard to go wrong.

Some of them have slightly more hp than upheaval. Of the 50-55 I pull there is usually 2-3 that didn't die, easily enough to nuke off or channel through another upheaval (with 2nd person there they can finish the mob, they are super weak)

If you can't get a friend to help you, or you prefer to just farm alone (me!) you can still manage nicely with Upheaval.

At 61 with Aego and Blessed Armor of the Risen up I can collect at least a dozen or so owlbears at a time. You'll probably be interrupted a time or two, but these guys really don't hit hard. I would CH myself maybe every other pull.

The 2 or 3 left standing are easy to melee down.

Since I was doing this without KEI, I would occasionally use Unspoken Word instead. It means a slightly longer clean up time, but with Yaulp V that's all medding time.

Managed to get 10 stacks of wailing substance in about 3 or 4 hours this way. Now if only I could get the wolves to cooperate
