Er, and that's a good drop rate is it? FrntMnts is a pretty big zone...Originally posted by Ngreth ThergnYesOriginally posted by Winenoseor 70 drops per hour is for whole zone if you pull it all and kill it every repop.

I never said if it was good or not. To tell you the truth I am too new to know if it is good.
What I did say is that it dropped most often in that zone.

wakening land
killing holgresh for tailoring - had one round (16? mobs) drop 4 sulphurs. Continued to farm for 7 hours - 0 more dropped. Further reinforces the point that this is so random you're better off just killing everything in sight, quantity > what someone else says is "the best place"Hangovr Regrets

Traded some PLing for some help in intensive farming. Three hours in FM and still not one drop. I have gotten one - ONE - total to drop, from anywhere I have tried farming, on my main and on my alts (which are all leveling in supposed drop spots now) and have spent a good chunk of time at it now. I'm worried about this 10x increase... I've managed to vendor and bazaar farm less than a stack (13) since the expansion (and I am a pretty dedicated vendor farmer). This is not enough... not enough for me to fix up the spellbook of my own main, nevermind make any for alts or friends or for sale... or for skill ups to avoid those costly failures. I am green with envy that anybody is getting any to drop at all.
After giving it some time, really trying to farm some despite my total dislike of farming a drop so totally random, waiting for the bazaar to adjust... I completely and totally disagree that enough is dropping to *make* spells.
I will play more wait and see, but I am honestly worried about the improved drop rate too.Last edited by Aryse Andenter; 10-19-2005, 11:51 PM.

back in my 40s and 50s when i solo'd dulaks, i got tonnes of crystalized sulfur and sold it off to merchants, or didn't loot/destroy if it took up space for gem drops--the only reconciliation here is this was before GoD so i don't think the stuff had much use.
last night, my guildleader mentioned he needed the crystalized sulfur and saltpeter for research. so, being the good lass i am, i hit dulaks. in roughly 45 minutes i cleared the amoury and first four ships, and one drop.
did a bit better in PoI with saltpeter--had 4 drop in an hour and a half.
hope the patch tomorrow fixes this. since it has got a reasonable purpose now, i'm not saying it should go back to how it was, but at least it should drop a bit more.Last edited by nekokirei; 10-26-2005, 02:29 PM.

Good Source?
I am not going to say that I have found the best source (since the drop rate has been increased in this patch), but I know of a fantastic source for Crystallized Sulfur. I use it all the time as a money making source. And I would bet each of you has used it at one time or another. It is a quest. The last 100 turn-ins netted 10 sulfurs. Now, the quest is limited to researchers, but you can easily get around that with what the quest reward brings.
Hoping the nerf bat does not swing (since I levelled my enchanter 3 levels in 30-40 turn-ins), anyone may want to try the Sage Research Quest in PoK. The cash rewards range from Sapphires to Crystallized Sulfur...Mithril Amulets to Pearl Necklaces. I affectionately call it "The Money Quest". I am sure that this will drive the prices of the Runes/Words up even moreso than they are. But once you can do the quest (requires 100 Research to start, iirc), there is no better rewarding quest in the game.
As for Maelin Starpyre people, my 63 rogue has over a stack of Sulfur and Saltpeter (and 2 Runic Parchments, for that matter) - all thru vendor mining and this quest. My apologies for making you think there were none on vendors.

Good news! Just hoping that more Saltpeter doesn't mean less Knuckle Joints, etcOriginally posted by Eleena Transienttodays patch:
- Saltpeter and Crystallized Sulfur should drop about 10 times as often as they did in the past.

Drop Rate
I have not killed anything, but I am confident the drop rate is noticable. I have already mined a stack of Crystallized Sulfur since the servers have been up today (10/27) on Maelin Starpyre.
