Actually there were several places where it was a common drop (and off of specific mobs -- ie bugs and juggs in Seb, etc).

My guess is they meant to reduce the drop rate by 50% and somehow the reduction was messed up. Now it is a 0.05% drop rate rather than 50% of the previous rate. At least that seems to be about how my math works out for it.

Given that is is game wide and not a specific zone, my bet is the code got messed up, not the database table.

Any chance a mod or Ngreth can point this out to SOE?

Btw, someone mentioned Saltpeter. Yes this is still a reasonable drop in PoI, although based on my logs I would guess the drop rate was reduced by 40-50% (not at all unreasonable, and likely what they meant to do with Crystallized Sulfur. However, I think the fact that Saltpeter is only in PoI and DoD is why it did not get messed up).

Crystallized Sulfer used to drop in 20ish (?) zones. I bet someone tried to do a "world" fix and someone else tried to "adjust" each zone. In effect multiplying the effect of each change.

Not even sure why they had to tweak the drop rates of those items anyway. You'd think Researchers would get a break after the whole Rune of Zephyr drama that lasted what, 4 expansions?

The first Sulfur I've seen in the maelin bazaar since the new expansion showed up tonight - for 24,995pp (I'm thinking maybe there was one earlier for the even 25k?!!). Talked to Xislaben and we've both been vendor farming maelin pretty extenisvely, but either there isn't any out there or others are beating us both to it, vendor farming isn't turning any up. I've done quite a few LDoNs since the new expansion came out to play with alts and shrouds, and haven't seen one drop there. Tried farming some in a few zones, got a single drop in OOT eventually (which at least proved to me it was still dropping as I was beginning to think it was all a myth ). I'm not really up to farming if the result is at best 1/hour... this doesn't even make sense to me, the parchment should be the rare drop, not the sulfur Anyone heard anything on if this is being reviewed or anything? Or willing to share their secret supply?

A guildy managed to vendor farm 11 over the course of about 2 hours hitting just about every city's common vendors.

Two clearings of the Vampire named in TM came up with 2 sulfurs... haven't seen one in the bazaar for days now.

Until they do a server side re-boot, the drop rate on these is going to be horrible. Something did get messed up, however they wont take the severs down just to patch a minor item drop rate issue.

                Is this confirmed somewhere?

I have not seen one in the Bazaar since the release.

Using most of my Guild, I have accumlated 41 this week. Half from vendor diving and half from one pre hour type hunting by myself and others (reviewing logs and stories.. for example I tried Jaggedpine Gnolls: got one on 5th mob, and then none for two complete clears of the caves).

Enough Sulfur is being found to *make* spells (be honest, you know it is).. but the first 300 Researcher should be in 2010 at this rate. I would love to know if it's supposed to be this rare (working as intented).

If you find a vendor that has quite a few on them, my advice is to buy all but one, so that vendor remains "seeded". If you buy them all and people sell more to that vendor it may not show up again for you to dive for.
Once you find a zone that it shows up regularly on the vendor, that dive turns to a mine.

Ah, problem on most servers is that vendor divers have already scooped up everything and are pricing them at ridiculous amounts. On Saryrn, Sulfur is now going for 1k a pop. Not that I'd pay for those ridiculous prices.

This only works if no one else is farming that vendor... on my server this is just asking for someone else to have one of your items.

Just AEd giant for 5 times, droga and nurga entrance and both goblin and burynai caves a few times.. net result = 0. Either i'm doing something very wrong or 70 drops per hour is for whole zone if you pull it all and kill it every repop.

If the Sarnak Zerkers have the same drop rate in Frontier Mnts as they do in OT it's still going to suck and be far from 70/hour
