Well, add me to the "shafted" list.

Just now got rolled back, and I wasn't online til hours after those merchants came down.

Haven't bought anything from anyone .. just sold useless crap from quest farming to guild hall merchants.

I lost BiC pieces, AA's, some stuff I was given for guild purposes (legally obtained) .. and worst of all, my time spent working on all this crap.

I'm all for the rollbacks, but good lord .. keep it to the people that actually merit it.

Apparently it's hitting alot of people that had no involvement at all. Even some who haven't been online in days.

Holy Christ I just lost my second holepoker, 200kpp, a TON of clockwork pieces from CC that some lvl 65 dude had picked up while farming for a single item from a named clockwork there - who, btw, also got rolled back.

SOE decided to run thier script again tonight and I was rolled back a second time. After getting rolled back the night before (which was justified and I am not complaining about that) I thought it safe to purchase some items in the bazaar. Tonight all those items are gone from the rollback but so is the pp I used to buy those items. None of it was replaced.

Petititons filed but I never hold my breath with thier customer service.

I got rolled back. So did my Ranger. And I can't even begin to imagine why. Heck I have't bought anywhing but water, iron rations, fishing bate...I dunno, maybe other incidental stuff. I am so angry and frustrated right now that I am almost in tears. Why are they doing this to me??

Wow, one of my characters just got rolled back, lost level 68 and some don mission stuff. I have not even done tradeskills on that character in over a year and I bought nothing the day this beta vendor thing happened.

I did not even log in until hours after the merchants were gone.

            This really sucks.

If my mage gets rolled back and loses the 251 to 267 shadowscream I finished 10 minutes before they sent out that message saying to be careful about playing...I am going to scream myself!

They should have immediately put out a warning saying buy nothing from anyone in the bazaar or from vendor diving (by nothing i mean the stuff that was on the beta vendors, hehe) until they get this resolved.

Believe me, I would have waited on the shadowscream combines. My sk has not bought anything at all that could be considered tainted and he got rolled back.

Once again, this really, really sucks

              2nd rollback again here.

1st time i bought a pick lock from Baz and then finished my master cultural, logged on next day im back to half way through my master quest. I think to myself ohh well at least its over with, just bite the bullet and finish it again. So this morning Ive logged back on and hey presto ive been rolled back a 2nd time, despite the fact I made a point of not buying anything in Baz. I also checked a baz merchant i have on another server and she's been rolled back today lost 2 days worth of sales and 2000 CE combines never happened.

Do I really want to do my Master quest a 3rd time?? Will they roll me back again?? I dont know!! What I do know, is that im fuming mad and for the 1st time im actually thinking of quitting the game.

I really think a full rollback of everyone after the error was found would have worked better, yes it may have pi**ed-off a few who had spent the hour after the patch doing their raids or whatever, but at least people like me who were never logged on during the rogue merchant incident wouldnt end up losing multiple days of gaming. Why didnt they go with the full rollback for all straight after the incident? I would suggest that the this has the stench of elitism, protecting their own, screwing over the little man.

Im going to go buy WoW, goodbye everquest... ok i dont know if its that bad, but I do know when buying future games, I will check to see if it mentions SoE (or whoever) on the packing and if so that will effect whether I purchase that game or another...

Please excuse my language, I really am fuming mad.

I agree with you completely Buns, they should have done the rollback right away, problem solved.

As I was writing a scathing message via /petition, I remembered that I had bought some mtp's with my sk yesterday. So now I know why I was rolled back.

Doesn't change the fact that I just got royally screwed for buying something in the bazaar that someone put up for sale, after doing his/her illegit combines.

From all the chat on my server, it seems some people are missing one crucial point on this mess: SOE is at fault here, yes, even more than those who knew they were taking advantage of something. There was a guy in pok telling people they should be wary of petitioning, because soe might see it as an admission of guilt and ban or suspend their account. Please! Who patched this in? Who failed to roll back, right away?

I only lost some xp, some gear, and some mission stuff. Here's hoping most people managed to avoid this whole nasty mess!

Oh and SOE, how about a public apology? You do realize that you are responsible for this, right?

The official message on the eq forums sounds like a police statement "we will be aggressively, blah, blah, blah". How about "sorry we totally screwed up"?

Then we can all get back to our happpy EQ space

                  Cxl!!

I've cancelled my accounts at this point pending resolution of this matter. Raid loot rolled back because I made the mistake of buying slugworms in bazaar for a 52k each, then reselling them moments later for a modest profit.
Sadly I got a roll back, but the guy I sold them to didn't.
I could have dealt with the lost tradeskill skillups, but the raid loot and the fact me customer didn't get a rollback just upsets me.

To the other innocents guys I'm sorry. To the community as a whole it's been real. I've enjoyed my time here. To those responsible, bad whoever you are. No cookie!

Sorry, for posting so many times in a row, but 2 minutes after I finished my previous message, I went back to the session of EQ I had open and lo and behold, one of those rare GM creatures was in POK answering questions and directing everyone to a new letter from the producer on the EQ boards.

And there I found the apology.

Ask and ye shall receive I guess.

Thanks for the official word and apology SOE

I didn't know about the vendors in PoK until much later in the day when a friend mentioned it. He said he heard they had vegetables and some hopper hides, and he didn't know anything else (he doesn't tradeskill). Since I didn't have anything to do with those vendors, I didn't think anything more about it. Grabbed some supplies, and started tradeskilling. I bought a few hq bear hides in the bazaar (for about the same price I had been pricing them at for a month), and got to work. I gained several points in Tailoring (up to 220), Fletching (up to 252) and Jewelcraft (289).

Yes, I know that if I had been more diligent in investigating this fiasco, I might have held off on my tradeskilling. However, all I had to go on was a vague warning about interaction with some npc's in PoK. I figured I was ok.

Well, I am now down about 20k, 6 stacks of scale ore, 5 stacks of air-infused spring water, 22 stacks of condensed shadow arrowheads, 22 stacks of bundled acrylia arrow shafts, lots of various tailoring supplies, and many legitimate skill gains.

That isn't the worst. This morning, a guildie was working on her rogue 1.5 epic, and asked me if she could borrow my smithy hammer so she could do her combines. Bye bye epic pieces. I borrowed my husband's reinforced jeweler's kit, then handed it back again. We are still waiting to see if his chanter gets rolled back.

My mage got burned this way. Vendor dived some Crystallized Sulfurs and Saltpeters, and it cost me an Infernal Ring of Regrowth, Veil of the Windstriders, 2 Muramite runes and 5 AAs. Oh, and the rollback hit as we were preparing to engage Bzzt Zzzt to get to the next island in Sky, for her epic. A guildie who'd shared in some of the same splits as me lasted long enough to make it to the next island and loot his crown. About 10 seconds later...wham.

Yes, what's happening sucks, and I understand that people are upset. However, the rules of the board still apply. This thread is going south quickly. If you want to discuss this in a civil manner, do so. If you'd like to complain about this, the PSR is the perfect place (but keep in mind, the rules still apply there as well.) However, flaming SOE, profanity, attacking specific people, and such are not tolerated on these boards.

Consider this a warning. This thread will be locked if this continues.

                          Thanks,

Well, I logged in about 12 hours after the patch. I knew nothing about it at that point. Bought a (yes 1) vegerog vine in the bazaar, made a stonewood bow, went trader mode, and went to bed.

This morning I've been rolled back... 2 days later.

I do not think that 2 days of my playtime is worth 1 vegerog vine.

Add me to the list of cancelled accounts.

Add me to the rollback list. My main bought a stack of clarity x potions in the bazaar and was rolled back. My trader sold 1 item (magnetic helm) and was rolled back. My 2-box alt (separate account) got mage toys for pet from a group member who had bought from the merchants and was rolled back.

My main and alt were rolled back during a DoN mission. 5 of the 6 of us in the group were rolled back. The 6th got pasted in the mission.

Seems like the dragnet was cast pretty wide on this.

Ok, I just logged in now again and found the following announcement from SOE.

"The character rollbacks for the Beta NPC issue have been completed. For more information, please visit (the EQ forums) Thank you for your patience and understanding while we resolved this issue."

That's.... a bit optimistic on their part.

They patched the servers. This is mature technology, they have been patching lo these many years.

The servers were brought up. At this point they are SUPPOSED to do a live check by having GM staff check that the zones are loaded and running properly. One would THINK that actually stepping foot in a zone or two would be a requirement. If any zone in the GAME is checked the presumption would be that PoK would be the first.

They UTTERLY FAILED to do "due diligence" in the patching.
They UTTERLY FAILED to do "due diligence" in verifying the patch went correctly.

For these two failures someone gets in serious trouble in my book.

                                Then what happened?

They became aware that the vendors were on Live servers.

You have a binary decision here.

                                a) Run around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to get GM-staff to log in to /permakill the vendors

                                b) down the servers

If they don't do a full tape backup of the player database before / during the patch process they invite disaster. So it's a sureity (Probability 1) that they had and have a complete data set from when the servers went down before the patch. All they have to do is repatch with the old PoK zone files. They lose 6 to 9 hours of play time for all servers.

They choose not to down the servers. This is an UTTER FAILURE to take the appropriate steps. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY they can track all the negative side effects of the Beta NPC disaster.

They didn't check the patch before they ran it.
They didn't check the patch AFTER they ran it.
They didn't IMMEDIATELY turn the servers OFF and re-patch.

I want a name, and I want that person to be looking for a new job, outside the software / customer service industry. I didn't get effected because

                                i) I wasn't on
ii) I didn't buy or sell ANYTHING since before the patch
iii) My guild is basicly dead so none of my guildmates donated illegal items
iv) I didn't trade any items with any toons for any reason during the disaster

In SWG they banned people, then teleported the friends of the banned people to the equivilent of Veeshan's Peak.

Now in EQ they rolled some individuals back and not others.

Someone lacked the ... guts... to make the hard decision at the crucial moment.

Gren: hey, the Beta NPC's are on LIVE in
Itek: Kill the servers. Do it now.
Gren: We have to get authorization from...
Itek: **Walks over to the router farm and hits The BIG Red Switch**
Itek: You were saying? That somebody needs to check the versioning and put the OLD PoK file back? That we need to start re-patching NOW? That in the mean-time someone else needs to haul buttocks to the vault and pull the backup player tapes and do a complete restore from before the patch? Yeah.... you could be right... I'm -sure- that's what we should do.

It's a multi-million dollar business. Bad customer experience is related 10 times over. Even frigging McDonalds knows that if you have an unsatisfied customer he'll tell 10 people about his bad hamburger. You fix the problem and you don't complain about the cost and you don't wait around for the Manager to come in and tell you to fix it.

AT LEAST ONE person at SOE should be looking for a job. Today.
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.
