My poor hubby though- when my buyer bought 245 othmir fur he got sooo excited about tailoring skillups- now to think we'll probably not have them, he almost cried!

I have to admit I admire the stand SOE is trying to make on this, so here's hoping not many suffer who shouldn't.

I'd put the shoe on the other foot and ask them - if NPCs in PoK had been selling (for 1p) Time/Qvic/Anguish loot, epics 1.0/1.5/2.0, that perhaps did not have NO TRADE tags in error and thus got traded, sold, switched to mules, etc would you not be SCREAMING for rollbacks? And wouldn't tradeskillers who got skillups have to sit there and suffer for something they had no part of?

Well, this bug is a huge disaster, the effects on the EQ economy will be far-reaching, and lots of innocent players have been 'tainted' or 'infected' by innocently buying items while in /Buyer mode, or receiving artificially created plat while selling in /Trader mode (from folks who exploited the item that could apparently be 'bought' for 0cp and sold back to NPCs for 570p)

How long must I wait before I set up a Tradr or Buyer? Or before I do some Vendor-Diving (my favorite way to kill some time in EQ)? If I get myself 'infected' without my knowledge and in the meanwhile I exp, do quests and DoDH spell missions, raid, etc....I risk losing all I've gained?

HOW LONG? I asked this question on EQLive and Kytherea said she didn't know.

At least a FULL ROLLBACk would be done and over with in a day (most likely). Yes, there would be some grumbling from the innocent bystanders who just saw today's exp and such go *poof* (no small matter, but a necessary cost IMO). But then folks could go one and group, quest, raid without fear of being tainted somewhere a few days down the line because SOE is still tracing the stuff that happened today.

The vendors poofed about 45 mins after servers went up today. I just cant understand why there was no roll-back for everyone then. I doubt many epics, raid loots etc. had been obtained in that 45 mins so there would have been very little trauma had there been a roll-back then.
SoE makes me boggle at times.

Personally I am just going to sit back and watch the show...lol gotta be good for a few laughs. I checked out the vendors in pok and heard about the one in the Library who was selling AA's..Man do the Beta testers have it nice. I dont blame any one person for this mess, but one I am NOT going to blame is Ngreth, he has enough on his plate. I am truely thankful that my accounts are not active right now, I hope to get a job soon so I can play some more...but man I know quite a few who did take advantage of todays fiasco and wow is it going to be bad news...

Had the decision been made when it should have been. There would have just been the emergency patch issue. No raids would have assembled by then. This was known within 30 minutes.

If it was epic 2.0s being sold on vendors, the scope of the effect would most likely be a lot greater because there sure are a lot more people who would want one of those compared to hoarding tradeskill items. Also the influx of items has done all their damage at once. People who are going to skill up on them or sell/buy them have already done so. On the other hand having hundreds of epic 2.0 (which is very conservative if you could buy those) added per server will have significant long-term effects as well as short.

In terms of severity, this would be about the same as a plat dupe which has happened before and I don't recall servers ever rolled back for plat dupes. During DoN release there were weapons that you can click for a 50dd which allowed you to kill just about anything instantly from range. This was fixed the next day but the server was not rolled back. Circle of Drakes was broken so you could do around 30 of those per day. Again this was fixed but the servers weren't rolled back. Actually I don't recall a server rollback for a very long time, so it is obviously not a tool you use just because you're panicing.

I logged on after the patch and found the merchants up, I expected a complete rollback right away so I went ahead and stocked up some empty chars with loads of stuff and was surprised when they took out the merchants but left the server up and all my goods in my bags. Glad to see they are going to fix it.
My chars are probably going to have a rollback, I will lose the AAs I just gained and playing right now won't be much use either but I'm still gonna be happy about it. Free magnetized patch plate was just to good to be true lol, hope all those stacks will be gone in the morning =) *Never thought I'd hear myself say that*

Wishing the dev's a lot of luck with their heavy task of undoing all of this!


p.s. thanks to the people that mentionned the risks of going into buyer and trader mode at this time, hadn't even thought of that yet. Hope they will find a way to undo the caused damage for the poor people in buyer mode =(

I know of at least 15 people on Tribunal that got rolled back.

I, for one, am very glad to see that they did follow through with it.

This is my issue. Timely decision making (emergency patch within 1 hour of servers back) and roll everyone back to pre-patch would have been fair. As it stands now, my trader got rolled back to about 2 hours pre-patch and lost 3 smudged runic parchments obtained prior to the patch (about 1 hour) and 1 (possibly legitimately removed) obtained ~ 1/2 hour after server up.

If the char info had been backed up when servers went down than I would only be out the single parchment which may/may not have been (though probably was) obtained from the "beta" vendors originally.

a couple of issues before the fact though:
1 - No char info back-up performed prior to performing a major change to the system.
2 - No QA of the patch prior to login server(s) allowing access to the Live servers. (lets see we are changing 2 zones PoK and GD, lets look at them before we open the login servers)

Hey - double plat! In your case you filled out several mules. You had the chance to multiply all your plat / items on all your rolled back characters. Or shared bank would probably work exactly the same way because rollbacks are based on character, not account.


This is something that partial rollback does not fix and something SOE can never give a 100% guarantee on.

Shared bank was enough to double your plat. I am sure there was a flood of money brought into eq with this mess.

Hoping they are still working on this mess.... Logged on this morning to find all the stuff removed, with indeed the exception of what I had alrdy tossed in my shared bank (7 artisan seals and 5 stacks of magnetized patch plate). Platinum spend was still missing from my bank but was only about 10K total so Im not too worried about it. But I don't understand this..... if they knew up front they wouldn't be able to fix that why go through the whole personal rollback thing? Keeping the stuff in my shared bank and still hoping it will dissapear..... Expected them to have the option to rollback my entire account including my shared bank, seems just a rollback on specific chars will not be enough in this case to prevent the impact this will have on the EQ economy.

Before I bought from the NPC's I did some high value tradeskill combines for a friend.... 2 sodalites, 1 bloodflow stone, 3 black gold inlays, and 2 other minor augments. Everything I combined for him is now gone... bye bye 400K+ =(

Looks like they haven't finished yet though so I'm still hopefull, but instead of a money flood I'm at a 410Kpp loss right now and still counting
