I'm about 50 minotaur kills in and no axes have dropped yet. Just to find out I did a bit of mino killing in Steamfont, got 4 axes in about 20 kills. Looks like that zone has the right ratio going, too bad you can't turn in axes from there.

    • Granmaster for Dark elf

Kill 120 spiders and loot 80 eyeclusters.
When i was done with the kills i only had around 40 eyeclusters.

      On a side note
If those only can be gotten during instanced missions then in the future when DoN looses it interest it will be nearly imposible to obtain those.
Just look at LDoN, no1 do those anymore and while i can solo 1, i cant obtain it solo.

      • Did The Hole for Hafling expert book last night and this morning. Killed 75 Elemental Warriors. I didn’t count the number of Monstrosities and Crusaders, but there were quite a few – probably another 25ish. Half the Drop of Mercury needed (10) came from the Monstrosities and Crusaders. Though they didn’t count for the kills, at least the drops counted or I’d still be there.

Almost as many Elemental Binders (lore item) dropped as mercury. On the plus side, the Loam Encrusted armor gets pretty good tribute – 600+ to 750ish.

I said I wasn’t going to try for the femur until after it was fixed, but I tried again anyway. Spent another few hours killing kobalds in Tox. One more Useless Cap, but no joy on the femur.

I've been at it for two and a half hours now and have only found 14/20 icebone skeletons. And that's at level 66, with a pet that is essentially long range Death Touch for these mobs. The time spent actually killing anything is negligible. I'm killing everything along both sides of the ice river where it hits the zone wall to the south, between the big, steep hill with the ldon entrance to the lower hills beyond the south tower, past which the lower level critters start. I'm killing everything: mammoths, orcs, spiders, leopards, and the occasional goblin whelp. I'm 99.99% sure there isn't anyone poaching on my icebones, as I'm wandering back and forth along this corridor, along the roam path these critters take and have yet to see another player.

I'm also taking periodic swings around the rest of the zone in the areas where icebones are found, with only one found further up the ice river, so I don't think it's that I'm s'posed to be somewhere else. I've done slaughters in this area before for other drops and seem to remember seeing more, although that might have been only because I didn't want the ones I got.

If it's taking this long at level 66, I can just imagine what it'd be at level 15 where each critter is a real fight.
Remember there are ice bones under the river in the cave where the litch lives:-)

          • For grandmaster wood elven armor, I killed about 20 drakes in Thundercrest, got 2 fractured drake claws. Should have been about 10 at least.

            • I've been working on the Human Cultural Quests. First off, I am shocked to see that the Human and Dark Elf both require the same zone, same mob, same drop. Very nice work SoE... so much for the cultural aspect changing things up a bit... guess they didn't release enough content and had to double up.

Side note... Human Paladins of Freeport, you CAN do DoN cultural quests through Qeynos. That was something that made me very happy to find out. Being like many Paladins, I completely wrecked my faction with Freeport Merchants killing Sir Lucan Dlere.

So far what I have learned is:
20 Sharks in Erud's crossing/ 4 Lake Pebbles. This one was extremely easy. The fast how to on this is that there is two spawn points on the opposite side of island from the port in. Each spawn point has roughly 3 Sharks. If you tilt your view slightly downward, then swim backwards, this will allow you to be able to get the clear view under water. I saw backwards as you swim slower, thus it is easier to control. You can do the same thing swimming forward, but it's a bit tougher. Also, during the daylight hours, if you hit F9 once to go overhead view from 1st person, then tilt your view a bit ******d using the right click on the mouse and moving it up, you can get a view that, during DAYLIGHT hours only, allows you to see the shadows of the sharks. From there, just target them and head to the shadows. Night is just tough.

Total time for me to complete this step was 117 minutes... roughly 2 hours.

              10 wisps/1 Lightstone:
Easy, kill willowisps on island in Erud's Crossing.
Took me about 40 minutes, silly lightstone wouldn't drop for some reason, only burnt out.

              Expert's Quest
Kill 50 Mermaids, loot 20 ocean ink in Kedge Keep.
If you head to the room where Estrella of Gloomwater spawns, this area makes the farming the easiest. Kill the two near her room on your side, I think there's two in the main room, two across the room, one in the room to the left of that. Back in estrella's head up the hole in the Ceiling, kill the three there, follow the path straight to the back, there's two mermaids in that room. From there, take a left and head down. you'll end up in another room with two more mermaids. By this time, the first one's you killed should have respawned. Each mermaid that drops ocean ink drops two. Makes this part a LOT faster. I had all 20 before I had killed even 20 mermaids.

              Total time: about 3 hours

Next step: Kill 5 Cauldron Sharks, loot 1 shark skin. This was cake. Get a few invis potions and head towards Phinnagels Lair, you will run into some sharks on the way. I found one room with atleast 5 shark spawns in it, but I can't remember the directions as I was just randomly swimming around the room. If you see a gate surrounded by gold, through that is where I found the sharks. Time to complete, 15 minutes.

              Master's Quest:
Kill 80 Chetari/Paebala Rats in Dragon Necropolis loot 4 Old dragon horn.

This one sucked. I went down to the Chetari (was hoping maybe vaniki or zland were up to give a perk to my two friends, ranger and shaman) for helping me out... but no such luck. After 40 kills I still had no Old Dragon Horns. Then three dropped in a row. We proceeded to kill after that, for about 4 hours total... and saw the last one. We probably killed about 120 after the finishing of the first 80. We chose to hunt the main area for the Chetari, the big room with a bunch of spawns. Single pulls were not very possible anywhere, but atleast they were easy kills. Total time, arround 5 hours.

Kill 5 Phase Spiders, loot one Phase Spider Silk. Cake walk, took me about 30 minutes to finish this one, first Phase Spider dropped a silk.

              Grandmaster's:
Kill 120 Lavaspinner's Spiders, loot 80 Arachnid Eye Clusters.
Stay tuned while I try to figure this one out. Could be interesting to say the least.

I still do LDoN's to help friends out occasionally. The major issue with LDoN in it's current state is that the exp is so VERY outdated. Back when exp in LDoN hards was rival to higher end zone exp... people did them a LOT. Now the exp is very poor. I average about 2 gold tops and it may take an hour to finish... very poor return when in MPG, RSS, and RCoD I can ding atleast 1AA and almost be done or be done with a second in the same time frame.

LDoN suffers from the lack of exp. So far from what I have seen, DoN is going to hit the same fate. The exp in those zones still doesnt compare to the higher end Omens/Gates zones, however they are also meant for the mid geared high level folks who can't neccessarily handle Gates/MPG+ in omens. *shrugs* I am just trying to finish the quests asap lol

On veeshan no1 is in those zones anymore.
Also if i read the books correctly (have finished granmaster and ancestral) then they get "used" up with means you have to do the quest periodically.

                  • Continuing saga of my quest for the Halfling expert book:

As of the last post a little further up, I had just looted my last Drop of Mercury. I had to camp due to the late hour so I couldn’t do the turn in.

The next day though, I headed back to Rivervale to give Bill his Drops of Mercury for use in a drip clock he’s building. I’ve got 10, but he only asks for 4. Easy! So what does the little haffer say after the turn in!? “Oh, I’m still short one. Go back and get me one more, will you?” And kill some 5 Elemental Monstrosities while you’re at it. There’s a good boy. Now run along. (Lucky I didn’t nail him properly right there, bald toed little pie eater.)

“No,” he says, “I have no use for this item,” when I try to give him one of the 6 I still have. (Little backstabbing creep.) Gotta be a fresh one, I guess.

So, off I go, pack to Paneel, running on my poor sore warrior’s feet. (Shoulda’ been a druid like all them other haffers, I’m thinking to myself. No wonder they go all that extra runnin' speed. Port here, port there. See if the got the energy for that SoW if the had to RUN all the way everywhere they wanted to go....)

On with my enduring breath necklace and swim down to squeeze back through that tiny crack in the door to The Hole again. (Warrior at heart, but sure glad I wasn’t born a Barbarian, I mumble to myself – would never fit through this hole and darn sure couldn’t just stroll into Paneel to ask for a key.)

Finally pop through the crack. (Gonna have to cut back on them berry pies a bit, Foot, I grumble.)

Oh well, to work now that I’m here. Outta the pool, onto the ledge, and over to the first hall to see how many Warriors I have to clear before I get a Monstrosity. Lo and Behold! Two Monstrocities up! (Bristlebane may be disappointed in his Rallos Zek following Hafling, but maybe he still has a soft spot for me – I say a little “Thank You” to both and start beating on the two. Woot!! First one drops the mercury I need. Only need 3 more monstrosities and I’m outta’ here!

“This Server is coming down in 10 minutes for a patch. Please find somewhere safe to camp.”

Arrrrggggg. Bristlebane, you fooled me again!!!!

I really hate to ask a bad question... but does that mean that you have no friends, let alone any that would be willing to help a friend out?

                        • Logged in after the patch to continue my quest for the Halfling Expert Book. When I had to log out for the patch, I only needed to kill 3 more Elemental Monstrosities (for the second visit to The Hole – See previous posts for more detail).

Since I have to pass through Tox on the way to The Hole, I thought I’d try for a Useless Cap to turn in to the mining skeletons in hopes of a usable Femur for the Armor Pattern Book. I don’t know if the patch changed something, or if it was only post patch spawns, but there were Kobalds everywhere!! I spend about 20 minutes killing every Kobald I saw, which included many Scouts. Collected 3 Useless Caps. Turned them in to one of the skellies, and, WooT!! , Got My Femur!

Moved on to Paneel and squeezed throught the crack in the door to the Hole. Killed 7 mobs total to get my 3 Monstrosities, looting another drop of mercury in the process.

Ran back to RV and turned in a drop of mercury to get my expert’s book. Then, I turned in the Femur I’d just gotten in Tox to get my Armor pattern book! (the Femur from Tox does not have the +2 save vs disease like the one from Runnyeye.

Managed to make an Expert’s Leatherfoot Cuirass along with the intermediate combines. I've submitted the results to the update forum already.

Found a researched to make me a couple waters, but did not have the space for another container of patterns. Had to log before I had time to clear out enough space for a new container, so didn’t have time to try a symbol.

Doubt I'll be able to solo for the Master's book, so it will probably be a while before I have anything new on that.

                            • Ogre cultural

So far in the cultural quests I've been working on.Did the kill HGs in the rathe, this quest the kill to drop rate ratio wroked out so that you finished both around the same time. The GM quest is another matter, when i reached 120 kills in thundercrest isles instant zone missions I only had 27 of the required 80 fractured drake claws that had dropped.I always was ML and no corpses rotted.I cant say how much of this is buggy and what not, as some, i can't say what portion really off the top of my head, probably like 1/3 of the fractureds that ive looted, DIDN'T count toward my quest total.Yes, all were from the instant zone version of thundercrest, and they all mixed in with the stacks of fractureds that did count, so theyre the same thing.
Drops for making books- Having done around 70? missions or so, im kindly to dark reign, and ive done around 15 good missions- just didnt turn in the deal. Ive seen 3 metallic drake scales total, sadly 1 was right after DoN came out and i vendored it.nooooo.Ive only seen 1 glossy drake hide as of yet. So those drops are severely rare.Oh, also for a noobier quest journeymans i think its kill 20 bears and loot 4 grizzly bear hides in the feerot, ive killed the 20 marsh bears and have yet to see a grizzly bear hide. hopefully this info helps.

                              • I had to loot 80 drake claws also for my book and I probably got them in 150 kills or so, maybe less. There are also Razorsharp Claws which are probably the ones that didn't count for you.
