So I have killed 37/120 creatures in Stillmoon and not a single fractured drake claw. At least half of the creatures I killed were Stillmoon Drakes. This seems to be very off....

A small raid (2 groups) went into Dragon Necropolis this afternoon to kill a dragon. I was happy to join in hoping we might kill a few rats along the way so I could begin my 3rd tier Human tradeskill task. We did kill rats, but my Task did not update ... I still need 80 out of 80 rats.
I can't image this is supposed to work that way???

2) The drop rate on Old Dragon Horns appears to have not been changed, and a player can easily finish the 80 kills with zero drops. This has been reported by several players in the serverwide.eqtraders channel over the weekend.
I've killed 600 of these now and finaly got my 1st one. And I started the freeport, so need 9 more to make master items heh.

Yeah Half Elf Part 3(?) Dragon Necropolis
Originally posted by OshranHello everyone. We at SOE are currently seeking to balance and refine the new trade skill pattern book quests across the board. Please reply to this thread with any issues you have noticed. Specifically, we would like to know if anyone has encountered a trade skill task in which the loot element was less than three quarters done when the kill element was completed (for example, after 80 of 80 spiders were killed, only 17 of 40 spider webs were looted). Your character race and the name of the trade skill task would be most helpful. I can't guarantee a quick fix, but I can say that within the next few weeks we hope to reexamine all trade skill quests to ensure they are on par with one another. Thanks,
Oshran-Dev
The spiders for Grandmaster level book, kill 120 spiders, loot 80 eyes. I've found you can get this done fairly easily once i found out there the eye dropped. They only seem to drop in Mission zones right now. I've done the "Lavaspinner Locals" mission 3 times (2 1/2 full spider area clearing) and have 75. I suspect if i hadn't timed out I would have finished it ok. Hopefully this is ok with your all and you won't nerf this.
Other concerns:
Skin/Pelt/Silk Availability: I think what's probably equally important is to make the trade skills even remotely possible. I play a half-elf warrior so I can't forage. And I've learned that there are very few possible places to get Racnar skins for tailoring. It seems that putting these on mobs only raids can get to is a little much. I would appreciate you consider setting up some in places like Western Waste,Skyfire and some non-instanced non-raid zone. So far from what I can tell is they drop in Veesham Peak (raid zone) and Temple of Veesham (raid zone) (?) but I don't recall ever seeing one there.
I looked at gnomes and they can use crystal spider silks and Nightmare silks (from plane of nightmare.) This is a littleout of balance. I can 2 box the spiders but can't 2 box dragons in VP or TOV. I think you need to revisit the location of the drops.
Second thing I've notice from another guide is that there is a great difference between the items needed to modify ores. (Edited because i dug deeper into this part. I stand by my comments but not the example.)
3. I'm hoping that these tradeskills will help bridge the gap for half-elfs since you denied giving them (and trolls) race tradeskills 2 or 3 years ago. Shadowscream is not a reasonable path for me or most people. And it shouldn't be the 'only way' for people to raise their skills. I still think you need a generic path up that provides multi-race class users items/armors for the 212-300 progression for all classes that doesn't required farming greens or assembling raid parties.
I really hope you take a serious look at all of this. I was originally attracted to EQ because of the tradeskills (I started May of 1999) that turned out to not be completed or ready to go. Although you have made great improvements (I'll tell you about making quivers another time for skill ups someday) I think you still have a few things that need to be adjusted.Last edited by Tellis Stormchaser; 03-09-2005, 02:47 PM.

barb journeyman pt 1
task: Chilled to the Bone, part one of the barb journeyman quest
I've been at it for two and a half hours now and have only found 14/20 icebone skeletons. And that's at level 66, with a pet that is essentially long range Death Touch for these mobs. The time spent actually killing anything is negligible. I'm killing everything along both sides of the ice river where it hits the zone wall to the south, between the big, steep hill with the ldon entrance to the lower hills beyond the south tower, past which the lower level critters start. I'm killing everything: mammoths, orcs, spiders, leopards, and the occasional goblin whelp. I'm 99.99% sure there isn't anyone poaching on my icebones, as I'm wandering back and forth along this corridor, along the roam path these critters take and have yet to see another player.
I'm also taking periodic swings around the rest of the zone in the areas where icebones are found, with only one found further up the ice river, so I don't think it's that I'm s'posed to be somewhere else. I've done slaughters in this area before for other drops and seem to remember seeing more, although that might have been only because I didn't want the ones I got.
If it's taking this long at level 66, I can just imagine what it'd be at level 15 where each critter is a real fight.Retiree of EQ Traders...

Acrylia Caverns for wood Elf
I found it to be reasonable, I got like 113 Acrylia Boning from the acrylia I got while I was there. It took about 10 hours of work on one weekend to do the entire quest.
And for heavans sake people these quests are only for the symbols you can make the armor without ever doing any of this stuff. They gave us the ability to make the armor for skillups and the symbols for if we wanted to earn money or make real armor to use.
True some of the other items aren't easy to get for the armor but the GM armor that can be made is Elementalish.
btw I duo'd acrylia sanctum grimlings with a 65 bst and a 70 druid the acrylia will come in handy for other skillups.
It is reasonable that that at least made then next to highest trivial item be a single drop (two for a couple) but not all that bad.

Wood Elf
Journeyman. by the time all the kills were done enough drops were made.
Expert. Bone chips were completed before skiellies were completed. In part 2 the clay dropped on every army beometh.
Master. Killed 81 gremlings but only 13 toes dropped. Far under par. Would need almost 250 to get a full 40 toes.
Second trip-solo. 9 gremlings 1 toe(s)
All in all, times were not excessive for quests. Spawn rate for plaguebone skellies required a return visit or a little camping but it should not be so easy a person just walks in, spends an hour or two and walks out finished. There were always enough gremlings <smile>.Last edited by Treefriend; 03-04-2005, 05:14 PM.Treefriend of Bartoxx

Barbarian master quest
Barbarian Master quest, First night in Maidens eye, killed 32 robes, got only 5 essence of darkness out of 40 required.
Update: second night killed 48 robes, finished the 80 robes but got only 9 more essences, so only 14/40 essence of darkness looted at end. So the drop rate is too low.Last edited by wold2; 03-04-2005, 10:18 PM.Quakr Tectonicus

Expert's Book of Gnomish Culture - Mercury Recovery Quest
50 Elemental Warriors killed
2 Drops of Mercury from warriors which counted
4 other drops of mercury from other mobs did not count toward total - only drops looted from warrior counted.
Follower of Brell now totally KOS to Brell Minions - not happy about that either.

As I understand these are primarly obtained as a ground spawn and very rare drop. I got 1 to drop in LDON in 20 Permafrost adventures. I haven't hunted gone to the Permafrost zone becuase everything I've heard is that 1 or 2 people keep this ground spawn looted 24/7. It's alot of work to find something isn't up.
