Erudite here. Had no problems withthe kerra isle part was simple and fast. Some mobs dropped 3 skins at once. Fast respawn on the Pumas on the little maze island, no problem there.

No problems getting my 20 low quality cat skins in SB, was done way befoe I killed the 50 highland tigers, as the low quality from leopard and Kejekan tigers counted towards the total.

No problem on the one panda pelt was done way before I killed the total for mature pandas.

The blame Bulthars i will not talk about.

Did Master Wood Elf over 3 evenings with hours spent in Inner Acrylia soloing Grimlings. Just now looted my 40th Grimling Toes, and I did a search on my Log file for how many Sanctum mobs I killed.

find "You have slain a sanctum" /c eqlog_Daygard_rathe.txt

      ---------- EQLOG_DAYGARD_RATHE.TXT: 186
40 toes in 186 Kills. And now I have to go take 4 toes all the way back to Kelethin to give to the guy, and I KNOW he's going to send me right back there. ARGH.

      Day.

Agreed, Acrylia Expedition for wood elves stinks. Second night fighting at least 4 or 5 hours each, 80 kills... and only 15 toes. This isn't even HALF the toes needed to complete the task. =(

OK. at level 66, I felt really dumb going into CB to kill Legos and get preserved orc hides. (I know I didn't HAVE to, wanted to follow the progression) So I waited until there was no one in there but me, With Tracking on, Killing all Legos, and any Centis who ph for Legos, only counting the legos though, at 10 kills I had 2 hides. at 20, still 2. at 35 got #3. at 60 LEGOS killed, I finally got the 4th preserved hide. Overall, I know I killed close to 300 orcs, but that's counting the centurion PHs, Crush of course (revenge) and a few others cuz I was bored and alone. (oracles, emissaries, slavers)
Then.. I have to kill 10 oracles? I already HAD... but back to CB since I knew it was empty. only have to loot one scroll, got it on first kill. Only 3 oracles up at a time.. course gotta kill d'vinn and crush some more, but hey.. I sure don't mind... they killed me plenty 3 years ago. I still have 4 oracles more to go on this, will finish today.

Nothing wrong with your second point, but your first one is flawed, because it ignores the fact that the Ancestral, Journeyman, and Expert quest tasks were completely different in Qeynos than what were given out in Freeport. Qeynos' Journeyman and Expert Quests are considerably harder than Freeport's, though the timesink of 10 horns is a bit much. Both numbers should be cut in half, or something along those lines with Qeynos still having to gather fewer items to compensate for having completed more difficult tasks previously.

Not quite on topic, but as a Gnomish tradeskiller my Master level quest has me killing 80 old wurms in Skyfire. While the drop rate appears to be fine, I am completely ruining my Ring of Scale faction. Before I started, I was max ally to Ring of Scale. I am actively working on certain Veeshan's Peak quests that require this faction. So if I want to complete my Expert level quest, I will have to repeat all of the earlier faction work I did.

                Human and Barb quests

Human journeyman book: "Clearing the western sea lanes" (iirc)

I agree that the drop rates are fine for the lake pebbles, I got my 4 about the same time I had killed 20 sharks. However, finding the sharks is a real problem. The only effective way to do it without tracking is to use the trick of staying just partially submerged so that you can see into the water without the game cutting your visability due to being underwater. (if i made any sense there, but most who have swum around know for a while know what I'm talking about) It took me about 1 1/2 hours to find 20 sharks to kill.

Barbarian expert book: "Vengence for the Skenes" (Mines of Nurga)

I only had 10 mt. death salts by the time I had killed my 80 goblins.

General comment regarding the step-wise nature of the tasks:

I also agree about what a huge pain it is to have to return to Halas after killing the first 80 gobs, only to get sent right back to the same zone for the next step. I'm not sure I understand the point of that other than to add extra time to the task.

Anyone know if a mob is charmed given the drop items needed then killed and looted if it will count? Just a though.

looting charmed creatures after handing items will not work; it's been tried already, and most likely was anticipated by the developers.

Looting in different zones? The drop rate on salts is so higher in FM off gobbies than in Nurga. I know on my task I did not have to loot the low quality cat skin off of the same mob I had to kill x amount of to get credit for the loot.

There is no reason for any of the stages to have varying levels of difficulty between cities. A human is able to do the Journeyman's quest in one city, then the expert in the other, and so on. So having the Master's quest be harder because the Expert's quest was easier doesn't work.

The two options should be balanced each step of the way, and not in total. If they are balanced in total with each other and the other races' quests then someone could simply choose the easier option of the two for each of the four steps. In theory this would yield a path easier than it should be.

Since both require killing the same mob, the same number of drops should be required. Koutarou's observations were dead on.

                            Wood elf druid here.

I did the first quest in crushbone. Killing greens was boring, but obviously easy. I killed legos for maybe 30 mins or whatever and finally found my 20 and got the 4 hides I needed, I believe I looted the 4th hide off the 20th lego. On the oracle part, I got my scroll on the first drop, so just finding the rarer spawn was annoying, but obviously easy at level 67.

I then headed to CoM with my wizard husband, thinking it should be relatively easy and boring, but fairly quick as we planned to AoE. Well, in the entire zone, there was 1 plaguebone skelly up. There are not enough undead PHs in this zone anymore to warrant that high a number of mobs killed. I cannot comment on the drop rate. Either reduce the number of mobs or change them to the plaguebones outside in EJ, as there were plenty of them on track.

Acrylia... Dear Tunare, Acrylia... Ok this quest is just horrendous. I've killed about 65 of them now and I'm at 13 toes. My high elf husband did his Fungus Grove part and got his 40 drops way before he finished killing his 80 mobs. His 80 mushrooms were also much easier to get to and to kill. His mobs are green and hit very low, sanctum grimlings are dark blue and hit higher... doesn't seem balanced to me. The drop rate definately needs to be increased. I also think it should not be inner acrylia grimlings that are required on the quest, but any zone grims.

I've already posted about Acrylia Expedition in AC's inner sanctum for wood elves expert book, but here's an update. I've been there for three nights in a row now, and killed roughly 40 sanctum grimlings per night (agreed, they are harder - dark blue to 62, mostly casters). I'm averaging 7 or 8 toes per 40 kills. Still 17 to go to reach 40, after approximately 120 kills.

They need to make these quests/tasks kill any mobs and any mob can drop the item. To limit the kills that count to one type skellie (plaguebone) in COM is crazy. At least make it any skellie but just 1 certain type /bonk Sony.
