Trade Skill Pattern Book Quest Issues

For the wood elf grandmaster cultural chain, I need to kill 120 drakes and loot 80 fractured drake claws in Thundercrest. Any drakes count toward the total, but fractured drake claws only drop in the mission instances. Right now I'm at 90 drakes killed and only 8 claws looted.

Edit: Oops, posted before I read the other posts, my bad. Still hoping they finish the kirin-drake bug mentioned above.

No SG on that list? I have killed 89 Bulthors and have looted 12 **** trunks. That rate continues and I will have to kill 350 or so Bulthars to get the 40 trunks.

Would say the easiest way to help this one would be to get rid of the swirling shadows off their loot table and have it add more chance to the essence.

However those of us that are working on smithing would have a real hard time making stuff that needs those swirling shadows. This would be blow to our farming needs.

If smithing gets hit anything like the way Tailoring did, which I am assuming that it will, you won't have to worry about Swirling Shadows all that much longer.

Vah Shir just now getting into trade skills...

Journeyman - The owlbear part was fine. Got my pelts just about when I had killed the last one. However, the bandits are not a good idea for the next part. They are very heavily camped at most times of the day. I ended up setting my alarm for 3 am so that I could get a camp without interefering with the lowbies.

Expert - Started this one. Wolves in DSP?! There are very few spawns, and some of them are from traps. After an hour and a half of covering the zone and springing every trap I can I am at 14/50. I'm sure I will have my pelts by the time I kill all of them. I'm not sure how much time you are planning on people spending, but I think this is going to take quite awhile.

Master - Was okay for me.

Grandmaster - So many glossy kirin manes. There aren't that many kirins in stillmoon, and most people don't bother to kill them if they can get away with it. Please, anything else but kirins. Needless to say I haven't finished this one.

Human Qeynos Journeyman

For the first task for the Journeyman book, I got 7 (4 needed) Lake pebbles in 20 Kills, so I guess everything is fine!
Hard part was to find those ****ed Sharks!!!
Even with tracking, finding them and fighting them under water is a pain...
Took me 2.5 hours to kill the 20 required with my 32 Druidess...

I agree with you, Balthozzar...
But i found that using an appropriate camera overview allows you to actually see the sharks under water, when you come close enough to them (but before they get into spell range with Extended Range II, so you don't have to be on them)...
Hard part is to engage them, switching back to an over camera angle!

I agree that the drop rates are fine for the lake pebbles, I got my 4 about the same time I had killed 20 sharks. However, finding the sharks is a real problem. The only effective way to do it without tracking is to use the trick of staying just partially submerged so that you can see into the water without the game cutting your visability due to being underwater. (if i made any sense there, but most who have swum around know for a while know what I'm talking about) It took me about 1 1/2 hours to find 20 sharks to kill.

I only had 10 mt. death salts by the time I had killed my 80 goblins.

General comment regarding the step-wise nature of the tasks:

I also agree about what a huge pain it is to have to return to Halas after killing the first 80 gobs, only to get sent right back to the same zone for the next step. I'm not sure I understand the point of that other than to add extra time to the task.

Gnomish 3rd quest:

In skyfire, the task is to kill 80 old wurms and loot 40 wurm meat.

BIG problem with amount of old wurms available. There are maybe 1-3 in the whole zone at a time, spread all over the place. These are rare spawns, and it's absolutely out of whack with other 3rd quest mob types.

Glossy Kirin Manes.

Holy Mary, mother of god!!! anyone tried to get these? can anyone tell me a stillmoon adventure that has more than 6 kirin in it? and there's no respawns in the instances? did Death comes swiftly just now, and there are 7 kirin in stillmoonb... but does the group want to travel the remaining half of the zone to kill them?? Heck no... "let's just do another one and get crystals"....
Tracking the Kirin... there's what, 2 Kirin in the zone? Sickness of the spirit actually takes you to kirin... but you only need to kill one... another 1 is out of the way, and there's 4 more... ok... so let's see... at best, 2 hours or so to kill 5 kirin? Hrrm... 2 in 5 mane loot chance? Hrrm... 80 manes will take 80 hours... of Doing JUST that mission... 40 times.... And that's even a mission you can only get if you have progressed in faction enough for it to show up. All the folks complaining about drakes and goblin loots in Stillmoon, wow.. at least you have some mobs to kill. I got all my 120 stillmoon kills before i got 5 manes. And of course you have to Yell at your group members to NOT loot the items you need.
This doesn't help my social status much... as precarious as it was to begin with.

Luckily I was a druid and able to track the sharks and just as you go level with the water surface you can see the sharks just fine but once fully submerged everything goes black.

Not that it helps much (80 manes is just silly) but the kirins in Thundercrest Isle missions also drop glossy manes. I've gotten a couple that way too (but I'm nowhere near done).

I've only done a couple of Stillmoon instances, but mobs did respawn in them. It just took a while -- like a half hour or so. (I never actually timed it, so that's just an estimate.)
