The barb expert quest: Vengence for the Skenes

(That should be "vengeance" with the added "a".)

part 1: I was 3 salts short of the 20 by the time I had my 50 goblins, but got those 3 salts out of the next 4 goblins, so it's not off by much.

However, part 2 is to kill 10 goblin miners and get 1 green goblin skin. I killed at least 10-15 goblin miners for part 1, plus, well, enough other goblins to total 54, and only got 1 green goblin skin total from everything. So I worry about this step.

          Mercury Recovery

          1) Kill 50 elemental warriors
          2) Loot 10 drop of mercury (from warriors)
--- after that, the next step is activated:
          3) Give 4 drop of mercury to Vindi
          --- and then:
          4) Kill 5 elemental monstrosities
          5) loot 1 drop of mercury (from monstrosities)
          6) give 1 drop of mercury to Vindi

After my 50 warriors, i only had 5 drops of mercury from those warriors. So lots more slaughtering was necessary. Now let's see how long it takes me to get this last drop of mercury...

Oooh, that's a good tip. But should that really be the intended destination for a level 15?

Acrylia Expedition (wood elf - master)
              - Killed 43 of the specified grimlings -----> looted 9 grimling toes, only.

Denizens of the Isles (wood elf - grandmaster)
              - Certain Thundercrest instances seem to have a better drop rate. While doing "Simple Task" mission, I was getting a good 3 fractured drake claws out of 4 Isle drakes. However, later, did "Holy Hour" and killed about 20 or so Isle drakes with only looting 2 fractured drake claws (looted tons of razor claws though).
              Also:
*Denizens of the Isles is BUGGED. Isle Kirins are giving credit as killing Isle drakes (Isle drakes are also giving the appropriate credit). While this seems to give an advantage, it really doesn't because you still have to kill a lot more than 120 Isle drakes to get the 80 fractured drake claws. ALSO, the last step where you need to kill 10 Isle kirins is BUGGED TO THE POINT OF NON-COMPLETION. Again, you get credit for Isle drakes INSTEAD of Isle Kirins, which is no big deal, just kill 10 Isle drakes instead of 10 Kirins, however, the piece you loot is an Impeccable Kirin Horn. The quest is bugged so that if you don't loot an Impeccable Kirin Horn off of an Isle drake, you CANNOT FINISH THE DENIZENS OF THE ISLES QUEST because Impeccable Kirin Horns are not on the Isle drakes' loot tables.

Yes, I will be /bug reporting this in game. Just thought I would post it here and give a heads up. This bug has not always been in-game. It started about a week or so after expansion release.

              Thank you.

                human GM cultural quest

Task .. kill 120 lavaspinners - all zones
                Loot 80 eyes

so far killed over 400 in a variety of DoN zones ...

total drops for collect .. 2 - both from different zones

Add to this the recent changes to tailoring and relative impossibility of my human tunare ranger (and many other classes/deities) getting to 300 trivial in fletching ... stopping the insanity of even bothering with tradeskills till solutions are in place.

Add to this the repeated request for ease of availability of nitram anziok's exclusive materials for tinkering....

Maddoc, many thanks for having responded to the tradeskill issues list far more than has been the case with any of the class top 10 issues lists - but the responses to the changes alongside this new insanity seems to be that SoE now want to alienate the tradeskill community.. despite the promise with every new expansion as it goes live of 1000's more tradeskills (recognizing that we are a valuable part of SoE's customer base). It will not be enough to simply solve these gaps with a new expansion these issues need correcting immediately. Nor are they issues that would be likely to be brought up at any "guild summit" or "class re-envisoning" discussions as tradeskillers do not make up the majority of the player base - just a significant part of it.

                    Wood-Elf Acrylia caverns
                    Kill 80 loot 40
So far 51 kills 11 toes. At that rate will have to kill 185 grimlings to get 40 toes.

                    Update
Killed 101 so far 19 toes. Estimate number to kill to get 40 at that rate 212 kills.

                      Barbarian Grandmaster's book

Have killed 105 "Denizens of Stillmoon" ( they have to have "Stillmoon" in their name to count. Also, as has been noted, they have to be in the instanced zones). Have only gotten 15/80 "roguh patches of golblin skin".

                      This one is brutal ;0

Although any mob with "Stillmoon" in their name counts, ,of course only mobs with the goblin body drop the patch. If you are trying to win the instance, you can only get a certain number of these per instance.

Swept that zone a few times. Though never lucky enough to get a drop rate anywhere near that I have picked up some there.

Have had more drops from the Ice Giants in the castle at the rear of Perma. Though not 'common' they are much more plentiful than these darn Grimling toes I am trying to get out of Acrylia Caverns.

I am on the master level barbarian book quest The Essence of Darkness.Have killed the 80 mobs needed but am only 19/40 on the essence of darkness needed.
Would say the easiest way to help this one would be to get rid of the swirling shadows off their loot table and have it add more chance to the essence.Have looted almost 20 swirling shadows in the time i looted the 19 essences so would be a viable option in my opinion.

                            Halfling Patterns Book

With regard to the Halfling's Pattern Book, the following 4 items are sought by the questgiver:

                            1) Catskull Cap (Dropped by Pickclaw Mindripper in Runnyeye) NO DROP
                            2) Fractured Femur (Dropped by Pickclaw Bonemender in Runyeye) NO DROP
                            3) A Bundle of Optic Nerves (Dropped by Evil Eyes, Lord Soptyvr in Gorge
of King Xorbb, and Evil Eye Prisoners in Runnyeye)
                            4) Bead Necklace

The quest pattern for the required drops appears to be (2) NO DROP items
from one zone (Runnyeye) and (2) drop-able items from another nearby zone
(Gorge of King Xorbb). I've already seen posts suggesting that the quest-giver IN FACT is not recognizing the NO DROP Fractured Femur obtained in Runnyeye, but the quest generated Fractured Femur from the Skellie's in Toxxulia Forest. In addition, if there's a mob in Gorge of King Xorbb that drops a Bead Necklace (as another poster claimed, tho failed to identify the mob type that dropped it), I've yet to find one, after literally hundreds of mob kills throughout zone.

                            Several issues appear involved:

                            A) The use of IDENTICAL item names in DoN for items already dropping in previous zones. The Fractured Femur is a perfect example, as is Goblin Bones (already dropped in LDoN as a tradeskill item) and now appearing in DoN (tho not a tradeskills item). Using the same name for different items is only going to lead to confusion and coding errors, as already appears the case.

                            B) The required quest item appears to drop in more than one zone, as is the case with both A Bundle of Optic Nerves AND the Bead Necklace. Does the questgiver recognize the item itself, or only a special (tho unidentifiable) version of the item in question?

It would seem wiser to make the items required for the Book Pattern quests UNIQUE items, or as was partially done in these quests, NO DROP items across the board to avoid confusing them with other similarly named items.
This would certainly make the players life much easier and less frustrating, and I suspect the programmer's life as well.

                            Just my 2 cents fellas.

                            Dolgar

Oshran posted an update on the EQLive boards. Here's the text.

Based on the feedback we have received, we are making changes to the following cultural armor pattern quests:

                              Crushbone
                              Kedge
                              Erud’s Crossing
                              Gorge of King Xorbb
                              Dragon Necropolis
                              City of Mist
                              Kerra Ridge
                              Solusek's Eye
                              Skyfire
                              Acryila
                              The Deep
                              Feerrott
                              Maiden's Eye
                              Highpass

Most of these changes will be minor tweaks that will make the quest a bit easier and/or bring the kill and loot elements on par with one another. In no case were any of these quests made more difficult than before. Also, a few changes were made globally to all the Trade Skill tasks including:

                              - Reduced counts for the kill and loot elements that involve fighting underwater

                              - Lowered the minimum level requirements by 5 for all trade skill quests (Note: this will not make the tasks any easier, but you will be able to begin them at a lower level if you so choose.). Thus, there are now trade skill pattern book quests available for level 15+, 35+, 55+, and 65+.

These changes will likely be pushed live with the next update (except for the lowered min level requirement, which should already be live). Also, in regards to a few other concerns that have been brought up on several trade skill quest threads:

                              - Target Zone showing as ALL for the level 65 DoN pattern book quests: To place a task in the DoN mission instances we had to set the Zone field to "ALL." Despite this, players should only receive credit for looting items in the instanced zone specified by the NPC in the mission text. We've asked code for the ability to change the Zone field in the task window (for example to "Thundercrest Isle Missions") and it should be an easy addition to the current task system functionality.

                              - The DoN pattern book quest loot items are too rare: The DoN loot items will only drop from mobs within the DoN mission instances. They will never drop from mobs in the base zone. If you are having trouble finding the loot elements needed for your quest, please grab a mission from a mission giver in Lavastorm.

                              - Not receiving kill / loot credit from certain named NPCs (such as the Scion Drakes): This is a more complicated problem. For now, you should always receive credit for killing or looting from the non-rare, non-unique mobs (for example, killing any drake with "Isle" in its name in Thundercrest Isle or killing any spider with "Lavaspinner" in its name in Lavaspinner's Lair). This may change in the future as we are currently revising and expanding many aspects of the task system.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. We are currently focusing a lot of energy on perfecting the new task system interface and I've seen many great ideas suggested on these forums. We are reading and taking copious notes!

                              Thanks,

                              Osrhan
