As near as I can tell there are just four cultural armors per race (cloth, leather, chain, plate). But I didn't get to see the stats on most pieces, I think a few races aren't even in the beta yet. I definitely didn't see any that could hold more than 3 augments.

A bunch of old augments, notably the Omens augments, are expected to change from type 7,8 to type 7,8,12. That would allow 3 augments per piece... this is a real advantage over dropped armor that usually holds only one augment (type 7 or 8).

Notice how important the type 11 augment is to the stats. Also notice that the augment is nodrop instead of just attunable. Thus every person will need 250 in at least one tradeskill to make his own augments.

I read on an article from Caster's Realm that there is a possibility of raising the skill cap on tradeskills to 300.

Has anyone heard any kind of confirmation on this?

Has anyone found the book binding (container I think) in which to make patterns for chain and silk armors? I think it is also used for making symbol patterns but not sure.

                  Dropped Item
                  + <level> <armor_slot> Symbol Pattern
                  + <level> <diety> water
                  = <level> <armor_slot> Symbol of <diety>

Levels are: Journeyman, Expert, Master and Grandmaster

Dropped Item is different for each level (from journeyman up):
                  1. Warbone Chips
                  2. Fire Opal
                  3. Shissar Scales
                  4. Metallic Dragonscales

I haven't figured out how to make either the water nor the symbol pattern despite various attempts. I have been unable to find any books describing the combines, and I cannot find a bookbinding which is needed to get the base items for the symbol patterns (though a few might be available on vendors in pok).

Grandmaster Leather armor is made by:

                    In a cultural sewing kit:

                    Large Spool of <X> Thread
                    1 to 3 Grandmaster's <X> Swatch
                    Cultural Needle
                    Pattern for <Race> <Slot>

                    Example:
The half-elf leather chest piece is made with:
1 Large Spool of Rilsteel Thread
                    3 Grandmaster's Runeseeker Swatch
                    Norathian (sp) Needle
                    Pattern for Half Elven Tunics

in a Half Elf Sewing Kit

Trivial for this recipe is 386
Tatsukaze, 58 Bard of The Rathe

This article reports that skill caps have been raised to 300, then says it is subject to change

                        http://eq.crgaming.com/viewarticle.asp?Article=7733

I'm not sure if I should be excited or cry

There seems to be a lot of mention of new quests, which I love. The biggest thing for me I think though is that being a Half Elf, I finally get a Culture

IF they do change the cap to 300, how many AA do you think you are going to have to spend to do it? What kind of title do you expect to go to from Expert artisan? Grand Master Artisan?

                            Journeyman Artisan is 100-199
                            Apprentice Artisan is 200-249

                            So why couldn't it be

                            Expert Artisan 250-300?

Wouldn't really need a new title.

There are no AAs in this expansion, so the answer to your question (assuming the caps do raise) is 0.

But yes, there are 4 basic types of armor as mentioned. Silk, leather, chain, plate.

Each race will only get to make what somoene in their race can wear. I.E. Ogres only get chain and plate since they have no silk and leather wearers.

There is also a "metal" version of the symbol and "tailoring" version of the symbol with slightly different recipes.
